She and Ria were in Jessey's condo having a controlled fun for an all-nighter. Controlled because she was trying to stop Ria from bothering Jessey considering Jessey has an important project to finish. She wasn't even supposed to be there but Kim and Cyd were busy so she accepted Ria's invite to visit Jessey. It was a sleepover apparently.
It was really nothing but a coincidence that Mika called Jessey while she was there.
"Oh, BF? Napatawag ka?" Jessey answered the call.
"Wait. Lasing ka ba?"
That got her attention and she asked Jessey to put it on loud speaker.
"BF! Hindi naman ako lasing. Hindi pa. Alam ko busy ka pero kung gusto mo ako samahan, punta ka dito sa..."
Mika's slurred voice gave a name of a high-class bar.
"BF, sinong kasama mo?" Jessey asked worriedly.
"Wala, BF. Ako lang," Mika even giggled.
"Bakit? Tatawagan ko si Ly."
"Wag! BF, don't call her. Magkakagalit tayo!"
She frowned. Something was definitely wrong.
She knew Mika seemed frustrated for almost two months now but she never got into detail about it. And even though she knew what was happening from Den, she didn't want to stick her nose in their business. But this? Why was Mika getting drunk?
She gestured to Jessey that she will be the one to go to Mika instead. Jessey has a deadline to meet and Ria was supposed to help keep her up.
Jessey nodded. "Sige, BF. Pupunta na."
"Thank you, BF! I love youuuu!"
Mika ended the call.
She and Jessey shared a disturbed look. After some discussion and Jessey thanking her, she drove to the bar.
Bar scenes were not her thing but Jessey said that in this particular bar, Mika probably was on her own in a private room. So she went straight there. The front and back of the room were walled by glasses anyway so she easily found Mika.
Mika was sitting on a bar stool with quite a lot of shot glasses in front of her. She slowly opened the door that was thankfully unlocked.
Mika turned to her.
"Uy, Daks! Andito ka!" Mika slurred.
She took a seat beside Mika and stopped her when she was about to drink again.
"Daks, ano bang ginagawa mo dito?" she asked with concern.
Mika smiled but there was pain in her eyes.
"Nagcecelebrate ng 8th monthsary namin ni Alyssa!" Mika replied with fake merry.
8th monthsary? She didn't know the 23rd was their monthsary. That meant they became a couple on the same day Mika turned her down. She was bitter and she kept a tab. But more importantly...
"Pero hindi ba nasa-"
"Nasa Tuguegarao si Alyssa kasama si Den? Oo! Baka isinicelebrate din nila ang monthsary namin."
Mika laughed bitterly but she saw how Mika's eyes were starting to shine with tears she kept trying to stop from falling.
Fuck. This was hard.
She actually was aware of what has been going on for the past few weeks. Den told her. She has been observing Mika since and she knew Mika was jealous of Den but Mika was trying to control it. She saw Mika's struggles but she thought Mika was succeeding pretty well. On the other hand, she thought Alyssa was being a complete douche.
