"Kailangan niyo parehas kumalma."
She wanted to slap Ara again that instance. Who was she to have a say in her relationship with Mika?!
But when she looked at Mika, with her back turned on her and her shoulders shaking, she knew she was gonna do more harm if she insisted on talking to her.
So she watched Mika walk away from her hoping that she would just look back. If she did, she swore she would grab Mika and never let go. Mika never did. It was the most painful thing she has ever felt. It scared her because it felt like an end. But no. It couldn't be. Mika and her has no ending. Mika just needed time.
But when she entered Mika's condo, it felt empty. She only had good memories in that condo, memories she shared with Mika. She realized just how much she screwed up.
She leaned on the door and let herself slide down on the floor. She pulled at her hair with both of her hands.
"Fuck you, Alyssa."
Yes, fuck her. She has never seen Mika as broken and as hurt as that moment in the hallway. She hurt Mika again. Fuck. What has she done?
And signs, screw ups, came crashing at her.
"Babe, Den wanted to quit the team," she said sadly while playing with Mika's hair as Mika laid her head on her lap.
"Why?" Mika looked at her.
"Because of me."
Mika sat up. "Oh."
"But I can't let her do that. I won't. I hope you understand if I spend a little more time with her."
Mika met her gaze. "Are you sure that's a good idea? Maybe she needs time."
She shook her head. "I can't give her that. I'm afraid if I let her do that I might lose her completely. I can't. I can't lose my best friend."
It was still fresh in her memories how painful it was when Den said she wanted to leave her. She. Can't. Lose. Den.
Mika sighed. "I understand, Babe."
She hugged Mika. "Thank you, Babe. I love you."
"I love you, too," Mika sounded defeated.
She should have made sure Mika was really alright. But she just assumed because Mika was a kind person. She knew Mika would understand. She took that for granted.
The day after that, she took breakfast to Den, missing her first meal with Mika when they were supposed to be together.
She woke up really early and prepared. She was just fixing herself when Mika woke up.
"Babe, aga mo nagising," Mika said while yawning.
Cute.
She sat down on the bed and leaned down to kiss Mika on the lips. Shortly. Mika doesn't like kissing her when she just woke up. Too conscious.
She stood up to fix herself again in front of the mirror. She didn't see Mika's reaction when she said, "Babe, dalhan ko ng breakfast si Den, okay lang?"
"Nakabihis ka na, may choice pa ba ako."
She heard Mika mumble but she didn't understand.
"Ano 'yun, Babe?" she asked, turning to Mika with worry and confusion.
"Sabi ko, okay. Mag-order na lang ako ng breakfast ko," Mika said blandly.
