She touched the pendants of her necklace that she wore the whole duration of the SEA games fondly. She smiled to herself as she was doing so because she actually missed wearing her wedding ring.
A couple of weeks after Mika and her started dating, they got a box where they put their wedding rings so that they could wear the other pendant without having to worry that others might see it. They kept it there and wore it only when they were not together. But they both decided to wear it for the SEA games because they both felt it was their lucky charm.
Time passed so fast.
They were now in a function room celebrating because they won the bronze medal. Yes, it's still a bit far from gold but it was something worth celebrating. There were a lot of food, music, and mini games for them to play. Everyone was having fun.
She was just sitting at one of the round tables and watching Mika, Kim, Jho and Bea taking turns in singing in the small podium. Mika met her gaze and she smiled. Mika also touched her own pendant and winked at her. She felt giddy at that.
Who would have thought that they would end up like this? Like love sick fools who can't get enough of each other. She was not complaining. She was blessed to have Mika in her life. She would be as foolish as she needs to for Mika.
It was foolishness that got her there in the first place.
7 months ago, she was foolish and she got drunk. She got married. 7 months ago, they were talking about getting a divorce. They were supposed to be getting a divorce soon as per their original plan. And later, she plans to talk to Mika about it. Mika has also been hinting that they should talk about it.
They will talk but they will not get a divorce. Not anymore. The feelings stuck and so will Mika. Mika will be stuck with her.
She was pulled out of her reverie when she felt someone sat beside her and saw that it was Den. She smiled at Den and Den smiled back.
After their trip, something changed. Den's clingyness and sweetness lessened to her surprise but it was kinda a good thing because Mika got less jealous. Still, she didn't like the change because it seemed like Den was avoiding her but when she confronted Den, Den only said she was overthinking. Then, Den acted clingy and sweet again but it seemed forced.
"Congratulations satin, Besh," she said.
"Yes, Besh, congratulations. We did it. But for now, quiet ka muna. It's about to start,"Den replied with a giddy(?) smile.
"What's about to start?"
Den didn't answer and the lights went out except for the light in the small stage. Everyone seemed surprise. Then, a song started playing. It was "Buko" by Jireh Lim. She would know, she heard it frequently because it was one of Mika's favorite.
It was Mika's favorite.
She glanced at the stage and only Mika was left there. She looked confused. Another light lit up and Ara was there. Singing. Holding a bouquet of flowers.
Fuck. No. It can't be.
Her whole body turned cold and her heart and brain were panicking, alerting her of the dangerous situation.
Mika was there on the stage surprised and anxious as she realized what was happening. And when their eyes met, she swore Mika was just as scared as she was.
Mika looked at Ara as Ara walked towards her. She saw different emotions playing on Mika's face but the love and pain shouted out the most. Love for Ara. She was sure. She could see it. She could feel it.
Was it pain for them, for their relationship because it was ending? Because that what it seemed like to her and it hurt like hell.
The song ended with Ara standing in front of Mika in the podium. She forced herself to calm down, to wait for Mika because she knew she had the habit of overthinking. Surely, Mika loves her more than she loves Ara. Surely, Mika would choose her.
