Opposites Attract

Chapter 8

Duncan POV:

I watched in horror as the man said those vile things. I noticed that Arran's eyes were darkening rapidly and the building of flames where his irises were supposed to be. I tuned back into the conversation when I heard Jessica's voice crack and I also saw her eyes darkening and the irises coming to life with flames. The next thing I knew Jessica screamed and glass flew around her like a tornado. I was worried about her so I dove into the storm and grabbed her shoulder. I'm still not exactly sure what happened but I just kept thinking about everything I loved about her to how much I loved her. Then the glass just rebuilt into what it was previously with no cracks and Jessica fell back into my arms. I murmured to her to let Arran handle it and listened to what the vile man said. I also noticed how Kylee winced as the blade dug in.

(Now the POV we've all been waiting for...)

Arran POV:

When I saw the man holding Kylee, my Kylee, like he was and threatening all of us I was overcome by anger. Anger so hellish that Satan would have cowered from my glare. I couldn't hear anything over the roaring of my blood in my ears. I vaguely recall Kylee and Jessica and, flying glass? I didn't care. All I could focus on were the girls' tears and their voices breaking. I saw the vile man's chest going up and down. I could hear his heartbeat, I could clearly hear his blood being pumped around his body. The next thing I knew the room blurred around me and I found myself standing right behind the man. "I suggest you take your vile hands off of her or else I will bury this knife into the empty, dark chamber where your heart should be." I demanded. Kylee and I briefly communicated with eye gestures. She subtly nodded let go of the man's arm that was holding the knife and I dug my blade in, not feeling any remorse. I watched as Kylee rolled and turned around quickly and threw a blade without even looking and it landed in his forehead.
