~Next Morning~

~Falene’s POV~

You opened your eyes and looked into the mirror. You leaned forwards placing both hands on the edge of the counter. Your light blue eyes stared straight back at you in your reflection. Something was different in them that you didn’t recognize and couldn’t place your finger on. It was like looking into the eyes of a stranger only this stranger knows you better than you do. You let out a breath of air and turned on the cold water. You cupped your hands under the cool stream and let the water pool in your hands. You splashed the water onto your face and repeated it twice more.

“Falene?” Miyu asked as she knocked on the door. “Are you in there?”

“Yeah.” You said turning off the water and reaching for the towel.

“Ren and I are going to head out for a bit. Do you want to come?” Miyu asked. You knew she wanted you to say ‘yes’ but today you just weren’t up for it.

“No. Not today.” You said being able to picture her disappointment.

“Oh, okay. We’ll be back in a few hours then.” She explained. You heard her hesitation before she walked away to leave with Ren. She hadn’t said it but she knew something was up. There was something you weren’t telling her. And she was exactly right. You didn’t tell her about the assignment you were given. What were you supposed to say? ‘Hey Miyu, I’m going to go kill Train today and will probably in turn end up killing Sven and Eve. Care to join?’ Yeah, right. As soon as pigs fly and hell freezes over. You sighed and pushed off the counter.

‘Okay Falene,’ You thought. ‘You can do this. You can kill him. You two aren’t that close, how hard can it be?’ You walked to the door and turned off the light as you left. You entered the living room and glanced around. As usual, it was quiet. Ren and Miyu often went out during the day to sight see and window shop. You let out your air and crossed the floor to the coffee table and looked at the candle at the center of the table. It was tilted to a weird angle from how you usually had it. You tilted your head to the side and then straightened the candle. Your hand went to your holster and you pulled out your gun. “You can come out now.” You called out. There was only silence except for the simple ticking of the grand father clock. “You don’t wanna come out? Alright, have it your way.” You started edging to the entertainment center with your gun in hand. “Marco.” You said and your answer was silence. “Marco.”

“Polo.” A female voice said and you spun around bringing Ares up to your face just as a shot was fired. It hit your gun and you heard her laugh. “Not bad.” She said, you looked at her in shock and lowered Ares from your face. Your jaw dropped a bit and she lowered her gun to her side.

“Kotori?” You asked and she smirked.

“Hello, little sister.” She said flipping her hair off her shoulder. You looked at her incredulously.

“What are you doing here?” You asked and she smiled.

“What, I can’t visit my little sister?” She asked putting her hand on her hip.

“Well, I guess that’s okay but I’ve been moving around since I was 16 and you’ve never visited me before.” You stated and put your gun in its holster. Kotori shrugged and put her gun away too.

“Things change.” She said sitting down. You narrowed your eyes at her and crossed your arms.

“What kind of trouble are you in?” You asked and she sighed.

“Why do you always assume the worst?” You gave her a look and she slouched in her chair. “I’ve gotten myself into a really bad group of people.”
