Dawn X Reader

"...I've got something to tell you..."

"Yeah, what is it?"

"I'm...moving."

"..."

"..."

"Ok."

The boy bit his bottom lip anxiously. "You have nothing to say to that?"

The unidentified girl turned away. "Well, I can't really do anything, can I?"

The boy scratched his cheek, his cheeks dusted in a light blush as he laughed awkwardly. "Eh... I guess not."

The two sat in silence on a cliff hanging over the ocean as the sun slowly set, it's orangey glow illuminating the land. The sky glowed a purple pink. The seagulls sang a soft melody and the rushing of waves sounded in the tranquil moment.

"(Y/N), promise me something." The boy, now identified as you, turned towards the girl, the innocent glimmer in your youthful eyes. "Promise me, that you will become an awesome pokemon trainer, and venture around the world. Promise me that you will come back here, at the same city, on the same cliff, overlooking the ocean," the girl gestured to the ocean as a breeze picked up and brush against her dark blue locks. "Promise me, that we'll see each other again. After 20 years." She turned to you and gave a huge grin, her large blue eyes staring into your own (e/c) ones. "Won't you?"

A large smile grew on your face as you returned hers. Locking your pinkie with her outstretched one, the two of you pressed your thumbs against each other, sealing the promise. "I promise, Dawn."

The sky slowly darkened and the breeze simmered, the grass coming an end to its dance and the flower petals closed to turn in for the night. With the last cry of the seagulls and the constant swishing of the waves, all you could feel was a strong force pushing against your tiny body and a chin resting on your shoulder. Your arms instinctively wrapped around the girl's frail body and tightened them, pulling her closer to you as you nuzzled your sniffling nose into her smooth dark blue hair that gracefully streamed down from her head. The two of you sat there for a few minutes, enjoying your last moment being in contact with each other.

"I'll miss you," a soft sob came from the girl beside you. You patted her back, trying to be a man like your father told you to be and comforted her.

"I'll miss you too."

Two drops of tears slipped down and sparkled in the moonlight as the night sky replaced the previous one. The town further down glimmered faintly before the lights came around, brightening up the area as people gathered in their small huts for dinner. It was a peaceful day.

That was years ago. You had fulfilled part of your promise, becoming a pokemon trainer. You had collected and befriended many pokemon that now accompanied you on your journey, earning quite a lot of gym badges on the way. "Pika." You turned your head slightly and smiled at the sight of your partner on your shoulder, a smile on its features. You had accidentally stumbled into the little guy once when you were playing outside and found him injured. So, being the kind person you are, you brought him back to your house and treated him. The pikachu became your partner in crime after receiving the pokedex and advice from Dr Oak as you started your Pokemon adventure. His signature yellow and black colour body hopped onto your mop of (h/c) hair as it danced around cheerfully. You gave a playful 'hey!' and played with the laughing Pikachu. You remembered the promise, but the person that made it with you...not so much. The day to meet was nearing, and you had no choice but to break the contract on your side. You were heading to the north up with your team, away from the meeting spot. So you could not go there.

As you calmed Pikachu down and had him sleeping on your shoulder, you returned back to the nearby pokemon centre, heading to meet up with your teammates.

Dawn, on the other hand, had also successfully became a pokemon trainer, journeying across the world with her teammates Ash Ketchum and Brock, with Piplup by her side. She did remember the promise, but seeing as the direction of her journey was heading away from the region, she might not actually be able to keep the promise. It has been 20 years already. It was the year to meet up. However, Dawn had no recollection of who she made the promise with or what they even look like. It really had been too long. With all the people she had met, she doubted that she could remember every single one of them. "Dawn! Hurry up!" Dawn woke up from her reverie and realised that the team was already waiting for her at the front.

The sky had its usual blue colour shine as the sun brightened the earth. The fluffy white clouds drifted along with the wind, having the top all white and bottom grey, creating more depth to them as the sun shone on them. Many different shapes formed as children from many area tugged on their mothers' hand and pointed to the sky in awe. Wild pokemons laid on the treetops and rose from the ocean surface to get a better view of the beautiful sky that had loomed over the earth for many years.

The two of you gave one last glance at the sky as you proceeded on your ways, separately. Dawn ran towards her friends with a cheerful grin as you walked through the path with a soft smile.

"Even though we forgot each other, and might never see each other again..."

"...but what we know is..."

The two of you gave a laugh of happiness.

"We will always be under the same sky."

Whoo! It's done. Quite a sad story. I got the inspiration while admiring the clouds in the sky and seeing such a beautiful scene that many people take for granted. I started to play Mystic Messenger and followed what 707 said. Really worked. You should try relaxing and staring at the sky for once. Anyway, hope you enjoyed it. Peace.
