Demi

I heard Nick's question & I felt his hands around my hands, but I couldn't answer him, right away. I stared into his eyes, for a minute or two, then he made a face, like he was confused as to why I was taking so long. "Demi? Did you hear me?" He asked & I nodded, still unable to find the right words. "It's just dinner. One date. That's all. And it's not like we haven't been on dates before. If it makes you feel better, we can just go out as friends. No date. Just hanging out as friends."

I shook my head, rapidly. "No." I finally choked out as I looked down at our hands. I cleared my throat. "I have to admit, this feels really good."

"Your hands always felt good in mine."

"Not just our hands." I looked up, from under my lashes. "It all feels good. Seeing you today. Talking to you. Laughing with you. Being here with you. All of it. It all feels good."

"So, does that mean we can think of this as a first date & see what happens?"

"So, does that mean we can think of this as a first date & see what happens?"

"Yes. If we're going to start fresh, that's exactly what we need to do, anyway. It will be like we were two strangers who met on a plane & decide to go on a date."

Nick chuckled, licking his lips. "Yes, met on a plane, go on a date then come back to the hotel & sleep together."

My eyes got wide as I let go of Nick's hands to fold my arms across my chest. "We are not sleeping together tonight. If that's what you're thinking..." I frowned at him, but I was fighting a smile, so he knew I wasn't really upset. I wondered if he even knew that I was serious.

Nick put his hands up, defensively, chuckling. "That's not what I mean, I swear. I meant sharing a room together. Actually sleeping. I just thought it was funny being it's our first date & all."

"Oh." I smiled, bashfully, then sighed. I put my arms around him, so I could hug him & the moment his arms were around me, I felt this warmth come over me, like I was home. It felt like I had never left his arms, that I had been here the whole time. "Good. Now, I'm going to go change." I said, as I let go of him. I grabbed my clothes & makeup bag, then headed into the bathroom. I looked around the glorious bathroom, admiring its appeal. I got my things out of my bag, then got myself freshened up.
