Contrary to what I just said, no family is perfect so if you follow my advise and run away from abuse or neglect in story's, don't go towards the 'perfect' family because, AGAIN, people want to have something in common with the character to connect, and NO ONE has the perfect family. And if you do start to write about a perfect family, add a twist or a flaw throughout the story.
Tip.
Again, just focus on people you know and try to relate your characters with your siblings, grandparents, parents, best friends, pets, random people on the street or people you've stalked from your window <3
