Dont be boring.. be exciting and readers will want more. Instead of saying,
"last winter i found out i wasn't actually afraid of heights whilst skydiving"
start with the action and say,
" Adrenaline pumped through my veins as my feet swung up and down on the edge of the air plane's door. And suddenly, i felt a yearning to jump off.. With one hand fiercely gripping the parachute string, i squeezed my eyes shut and forced myself off the ledge. A hysterical laugh escaped from my lips as I floated weightlessly, every second falling through candyfloss clouds."
You've got to admit, even though my writing isn't top notch, that's more exciting.
