So I decided to post this chapter because I'm not sure I'll be able to upload tomorrow and it felt a bit cruel leaving you on a cliffhanger like that for a few days so here you go...
'Nick...' Demi whispers, tears streaming down her cheeks as she stares up at Nick.
'I'm so sorry, Miss Lovato. I can't find a heartbeat.' The nurse says as Demi closes her eyes.
'C-Could you give us a minute?' Nick asks glancing at the nurse as he attempts to conceal his own emotions.
'Of course. I'll be outside if you need me.' She replies softly, turning of the screen she pulls some blue tissue off the roll and places it at the side of the bed.
'Dems...' Nick says as the nurse quietly leaves the room, drawing the curtains before she shuts the door.
'It wasn't supposed to be like this.' Demi cries. Grabbing the tissue he quickly wipes her stomach before pulling her up into his arms.
'I'm so sorry.' He says wrapping his arms around her tightly. She buries her head in his shoulder as her body begins to shake with sobs.

'I don't understand... I've not been bleeding or anything? I've had no cramping since I came in last week.' Demi says lifting her hand to wipe the tears off her cheeks while glancing up at the nurse.
'It's called a missed miscarriage; sometime your body doesn't realise so doesn't naturally miscarry.' The nurse replies.
'What happens now?' Nick asks as Demi's eyes flicker down to her stomach.
'There are three options and the decision is entirely up to yourself; you can opt to wait and allow your body to miscarry naturally which it should start doing within the next week or so or you can choose to have some medical help.' The nurse replies.
'W-What kind of help?' Demi asks as Nick swipes his thumb across the back of her hand.
'There is tablets we can use to induce the miscarriage so you don't have to wait or their is a surgical option where we will remove the fetus.' The nurse replies and Demi shakes her head.
'No surgery.' She says quietly.
'You don't have to make a decision right now. I understand this is very overwhelming and emotional.' The nurse replies.
'I know what I want to do. I want to wait.' Demi says glancing up at Nick who nods his head.
'Okay...' He replies.
'If you choose to wait to miscarry naturally I must warn you it can be quite traumatic... At the stage you're at you may see the fetus when you pass it.' The nurse says.
'W-What? Like the baby?' Demi asks and the nurse nods her head.
'Because of the stage when it appears baby passed away there will be a fetus which you'll have to pass. You'll have abdominal cramps and bleeding which could last for a few weeks.' The nurse explains as Demi covers her face with her hands.
'Babe, maybe you should think about this?' Nick says placing his hand on her shoulder causing her to shake her head.
'N-No. I want to be in my own home where I'm comfortable.' She replies quietly.
'So you'd like to wait for your body to miscarry naturally?' The nurse asks and Demi nods her head.
'Okay. I'm going to get you a few leaflets which have a list of things that you might need as well as emergency numbers for you to phone if you need to. There are a number of symptoms to look out for just to make sure there's no complications and we will need you to come back for a follow up appointment but we can arrange that at a different time.' The nurse says and Demi nods her head.
'Okay.' She replies quietly.
_____
'Dems...' Nick says as they make their way through the front door.
'Nick, I can't.' She replies, tears streaming down her cheeks as she glances at Joe who's sitting on the sofa.
'What do you need?' Nick asks.
'I need to be alone.' She replies quietly. Shrugging her jacket off she hangs it up before quickly making her way upstairs.
'What happened?' Joe asks.
'We lost the baby... Well not yet but it didn't have a heartbeat.' Nick replies.
'Oh, I'm so sorry.' Joe says and Nick sighs.
'I feel so useless.' He mumbles as Joe stands and places his hand on his little brother's shoulder.
'Go take her a cup of tea and just hold her Nick... I'll stay here and look after Willow.' Joe says.
'She wants to be on her own... You heard her.' Nick replies.
'No she doesn't. She's upset and she's pushing you away like Demi always does when she's upset. Don't let her push you away.' Joe says as Nick glances at Willow who's in her jumperoo.
'Thanks, Joe.' He replies quietly.
____
She's lying in bed with her back to the door when she hears him enter the room. Walking over to her side of the bed he places a cup of tea down on the bedside table before moving some hair out of her face.
'I'm so sorry, baby.' He says.
'What've you got to be sorry for? It's not your body that couldn't keep our child alive.' She replies.
'Hey, this was not your fault.' He says using his thumb to gently wipe her tears.
'You don't know that.' She replies quietly.
'Yes I do because you have done everything to keep that little one safe ever since we found out. What has happened is so unfair and it's cruel but none of it is down to anything you've done so please don't blame yourself.' He says and she let's out a shaky breath.
'I lied... I don't want to be alone, please don't leave me?' She asks causing him to lean down and kiss the top of her head.
'I'm going nowhere.' He replies.
