'How you doing without Nick?' Dallas asks as Demi lifts Willow out of her highchair.
'I mean I'm still alive... I'm coping, it's not easy but I'll get there.' Demi replies shrugging his shoulders.
'Have you thought about going out to see Nick?' Dallas asks, her hand resting on her stomach.
'We're going on Saturday. He wants me to think about singing with him while I'm out there.' Demi replies.
'Oh that would be good... Something tells me you aren't sure about it?' Dallas says and Demi shakes her head.
'It's been six months, Dal... I've just had a baby.' Demi replies.
'And you look absolutely amazing.' Dallas says.
'But I don't feel it. I feel- I don't feel fat but I feel bigger if that makes sense? I'm not saying that's necessarily a bad thing but I'm just not sure I'm ready to get up on stage in front of hundreds of people.' Demi replies.
'I'm sure he'll understand, Demi. He loves you and he'd never want you to do something you weren't comfortable with.' Dallas says causing Demi to sigh.
'I know... I just- I don't want to let him down. He seemed so excited about the idea of us performing together again, I'd hate for him to think I just didn't want to do it.' Demi replies.
'I'm sure you will performing together again one day but if you're not ready, you're not ready.' Dallas says as Demi's phone rings. She glances down at the screen and smiles.
'It's Nick.' She replies quietly. She hits the accept button and holds the phone to her ear.
'Hey...' She says smiling.
'Hi, beautiful. What are you doing?' He asks and she glances at Dallas before passing Willow to her.
'Not much. Just sitting with Dallas... Think we're going to watch a movie or something.' She replies.
'Oh really? I can try phone back later if you want.' He says and she smiles.
'No, it's okay.' She replies.
'Have you thought anymore about what I said last night?' He asks.
'I have... The performing I'm still not sure but I am thinking about it.' She replies.
'And coming on tour?' He asks.
'I'll come out when I'm supposed to but I might stay for the rest of the tour.' She replies.
'Okay. How's Willow?' He asks.
'She's good. She woke a few times last night but we slept in this morning so it was fine.' She replies.
'I'm gonna let you go get back to Dallas. I might be able to FaceTime later.' He says.
'Okay. I love you.' She says quietly.
'I love you too. Give Willow a kiss from me and I'll speak to you soon. Tell Dallas I said hi.' He replies. They both hang up and she sighs as she places her phone on the table.
'You should go be with him.' Dallas says.
'I can't. I need to stop being so dependent on him.' Demi replies.
'Why? You're in a relationship with him, you have a child together; I think it's pretty understandable that you want to be together.' Dallas says and Demi shakes her head.
'We've been together six months and I already feel so lost when he isn't here... I can't let myself get dependent on him, not after what happened with Wilmer.' Demi replies.
'You weren't dependent on Wilmer.' Dallas says and Demi laughs a little.
'You don't know the half, Dal. I was left without a house when I split from him, I was left feeling so empty and alone... If things go wrong with Nick, I can't go through that again.' Demi replies.
'Look at me, Dems... You and Nick have been through so much these past six months and you've both had to lean on each other for support. You were always bound to become a bit dependent on each other but that's okay. You can let your guard down with Nick... He's not going to hurt you.' Dallas says.
'I can't just up my life and leave to be on tour with him.' Demi replies.
'You can. You've got no interviews or anything for the next few weeks; Willow will love being with her daddy and Nick's made it clear he'd love having you there.' Dallas says causing Demi to sigh.
'I'm just not sure, Dal.' Demi replies.
____
'What do you want to do, baby girl? Shall we go stay with daddy or will we just visit?' Demi asks as she gently bouncing Willow on her knee.
'If we're going to stay with daddy then mommy needs to pick you up some stuff for our travels.' She adds smiling. The little girl gurgles and stares up at her as she grins.
'Do you like the idea of that?' She asks running her finger down Willow's cheek as the little girl leans forward and snuggles into Demi.
'Mommy loves you.' Demi whispers kissing the top of Willow's head as she gently rubs her back.
_____
'So what's going on with performing? Is she going to do it?' John asks and Nick shrugs his shoulders.
'I'm not sure. She said she's still thinking about it.' Nick replies.
'What would you sing?' John asks and Nick shrugs his shoulders.
'Close, I think. She loved singing that on the Future Now tournament Nick replies.
'Okay. How's she doing?' John asks.
'Okay, I think. It's an adjustment getting used to being apart, especially now Willow is here.' Nick replies and John nods his head.
'Why didn't she just come with you? There is plenty of room for her and Willow.' John asks.
'I think she felt like she needed to prove that she could do it on her own; I don't know. I told her she didn't need to prove anything but you know what Demi's like.' Nick replies.
_____
Demi smiles slightly as she glances down at Willow sleeping peacefully in her crib. Her life has changed so much over the past six months and she can't imagine it being any other way. Nick has brought her more happiness than she ever could have imagined but still she finds it hard to let her guard down with him. She knows he loves her, she knows he'd never intentionally hurt her but still something stops her. Turning away from the crib, she grabs her phone off the bedside table and glances down at it before gasping.
'Shit.' She mumbles.
