It's a little after 6am when Nick climbs out of bed and slowly makes his way over to the crib where Willow is lying down babbling to herself.
'Good morning, baby girl...' He says softly leaning down and helping the little girl to her feet. He glances back at the bed where Demi is fast asleep curled up on her side. He lifts the little girl into his arms and makes his way out of the room and to the nursery.
'Merry Christmas, baby... I don't know how exciting this is going to be but I promise next year we'll have a great time.' He says as the little girl gazes up at him. Demi spent the whole day yesterday curled up in bed with her hot water bottle, only ever leaving to go to the bathroom, so he's not sure how today will be. Sitting down on the rocking chair he runs his finger down Willow's cheek before smiling.
'Here's to you, you were pink or blue and everything I wanted. Here's to you, never sleeping through from midnight till the morning. Had to crawl before you walked, before you ran, before I knew it you were trying to free your fingers from my hand cause you could it on your own now somehow.'
He sings softly as he gently rocks back and forth trying to keep Willow settled for a while longer before he'll need Demi to feed her since they've ran out of expressed milk.

Demi smiles slightly as she lies in bed listening to her fiancé singing. Yesterday was rough and it's something she wouldn't wish on her worst enemy; the amount of blood there was, and is, was such a shock to her. She slowly climbs out of bed and begins to make her to the nursery. She looks through the small gap between the door and the doorframe causing her to smile as she sees Nick lean down and kisses Willow's forehead before finishing the chorus.
'Here's to you, every missing tooth, every bedtime story. Here's to barbie cars, light saber wars, sleeping in on Sunday. Had to crawl, before you walked, before you ran, before I knew it you were teaching me the only thing love can, hold hands through it. When it's scary, you've got me.'
She sings quietly and makes her way over to her little family as Nick smiles at her.
'You added to it?' He says and she nods her head.
'The other day before the-' She begins before sighing.
'I was sure the baby was going to be a boy.' She says shrugging her shoulders.
'How are you feeling?' He asks.
'I don't know. I want to get some of those lanterns, the ones you light and they float into the sky.' She replies and he nods his head.
'I can pick some up when the stores are open tomorrow.' He says. He moves Willow over slightly and pats his knee so Demi can sit down.
'Merry Christmas.' She whispers wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing his cheek.
'Merry Christmas.' He says.
______
'This is for both you and Willow.' Nick says passing Demi a large brown box with a ruby red bow on top. Smiling slightly Demi lifts the lid off the box and begins to go through it. Christmas music is playing softly in the background as Demi lifts out items including: a Minnie mouse costume for Willow, silver and mint green sequinned Minnie ears and a pair of pyjamas for each of them.
