'Demi, we need to try get back to some sense of normality. I know what's happened is horrible but we need to get out this house.' Nick says as he sits on the edge of the bed where Demi is curled up on her side.
'No one is forcing you to stay here, Nick. You're free to leave at any time you want.' She replies quietly. It's the 2nd of January and they spent New Year pretty much the same way as they spent Christmas.
'Stop pushing me away. All I want to do is help you.' He says and she shakes her head.
'Can you stop me bleeding so I'm not constantly reminded of the miscarriage every time I go to the bathroom? Didn't think so.' She replies causing him to sigh.
'Demi, I am not going to let you do this. I promised you we'd get through this together and that's what we're going to do. You are not slipping away from me.' He says.
'Nick, I appreciate-' She begins and he shakes his head.
'I'm not saying you need to be over this, I don't even think I'm over this but we need to try and deal with it... Get dressed we're going for a walk.' He says as she bites her bottom lip.
'I don't want to.' She replies.
'Tough. Willow needs out of this house and you're coming with us. You can continue your little pity party when we get back.' He says watching her blink back tears as she stares up at him. He knows to anyone he'd sound like a cold hearted bastard but he also knows that if he isn't tough with her Demi could spend weeks in bed and he isn't about to let her slip away from him.
'You're making it very easy for me to hate you right now.' She says climbing out of bed as tears stream down her cheeks.
'The only reason I'm doing this is because I love you.' He replies.
'Could've fooled me.' She mumbles before walking off to the bathroom.
______
'See isn't this nice?' Nick asks as they walk down the street towards the local park.
'I don't know if I'd go as far as to call it nice but maybe I did need to get out the house.' Demi admits glancing down at Willow who's staring up at her.
'I'm sorry if I was a bit harsh earlier I just hate not being able to do anything to help you. I hate not being able to make things better for you.' He says and she shakes her head.
'Just having you around makes things a bit better...' She replies quietly.
'We don't have to go to the park if you don't want to. I just wanted to get you out of the house.' He admits as she reaches out for his hand.
'Let's just see if it's busy.' She says and he nods his head. He can feel her hand physically shaking as she links her fingers through his causing him to pull her closer to him.
'I love you so much.' He says quietly as she glances at Willow strapped to his chest in a baby carrier.
'I love you.' She replies.
'What do you say we get away from here for a while?' He suggests leaning down and kissing the top of her head.
'And go where?' She asks.
'Anywhere you want, love.' He replies.
'Could we go visit my parents?' She asks and he nods his head.
'Of course we can.' He replies. As they reach the entrance to the park Nick feels Demi's grip tighten on his hand as they see the groups of people in the park; taking photos and signing autographs is the last thing she wants to do right now so the thought of being recognised terrifies her.
'Home?' Nick asks and she nods her head.
'Please.' She replies quietly.
____
'You can go back up to bed if you want?' He says watching her hand her jacket up.
'No... I just need to go change and then maybe we could do something fun with Willow.' She replies.
'Are you sure? I don't want you to feel pressured into anything by what I said earlier.' He says and she shakes her head.
'You're right. Me lying in bed all day everyday isn't going to help me deal with this. We've still got a beautiful baby girl that we didn't lose and I think we need to spend some time as a family because we are so blessed, Nick.' She replies glancing at Willow who's head is resting against Nick's shoulder.
'We are.' He says and she kisses Willow's cheek.
'I'll be down in a minute. Why don't you pick something for us to do.' She says smiling slightly. She makes her way upstairs and Nick bounces Willow on his hip as he watches her.
'Looks like we might start getting mommy back, Willow.' He says smiling.
