Jeongguk smiles down at V who is asleep. "What made this boy so tired?" He brushes up the fringe on his boyfriend's face and kisses his forehead. "I'm just gonna go out for a while."
Jeongguk walks along a dark alleyway with heavy footsteps. He knows someone is following him, and so he looks back, but there is no one he could see.
"I know someone is there. Show yourself."
A figure comes into his view, a silhouette of a slim woman, with bony wings springing out from her back.
Jeongguk suddenly bends on his knees and bows down, paying respect to the vampire whom he assures is the Queen.
"My Queen, why have you come upon this place?"
Jeongguk's face was sent to the ground by her powerful hand. He straightens up and keeps both hands to the front. The Queen did the same again, and so did Jeongguk, until his face is painted with red stains of torment, until Jeongguk's hands are shaking and his eyes shedding little tears.
"Are you just gonna sit there?"
The Queen grabs Jeongguk by the collar and lifts him up.
"FIGHT ME," with angry eyes, she screams at him. And she continues hitting Jeongguk and kneeing him on the gut. "Fight me, Jeongguk—"
First time ever hearing his own name from his mother, Jeongguk—and so did the Queen—halts on his actions.
Jeongguk smiles at her the most sincere smile he could ever make.
"J-Jeon Jeongguk?" she stutters.
"That's me. Do you... remember me now?"
The Queen's hands fall to the sides. Saying Jeongguk's name brings back the littlest memory. She could remember saying it before, and she's afraid about this. It's like saying the boy's name for the first time but not.
"Have we met before?"
"I told you I'm your son."
"I do not have a son."
Jeongguk feels dazed.
The Queen's eyes turned back into poisonous ones but Jeongguk just stayed still, looking into her eyes as if studying how it blinks from time to time.
Jeongguk smiles again. No matter how much he's hurting he couldn't blame her for anything. And her eyes are red too. It made him too comfortable and safe he forgot all the pain he's feeling.
Maybe it's the real feeling after seeing someone you've been yearning too much.
And then Hoseok's words came back to him.
It could be possible that V isn't her own child.
"Then who is V to you?"
The Queen tried strangling Jeongguk and yet he didn't move nor tried clawing on her hand.
"Tell me. W-Who... he is to you, Your Majesty."
Tears were slowly drawing near her. It's reaching for her hands, for her heart. She feels too much warmth from him and it's almost suffocating her, almost burning her.
Jeongguk is too warm towards her.
Jeongguk reached for her hand and he smiles. It's like a wish granted, like he's almost there, almost too close to getting her back.
"Have you been t-taking care of your picture? You... look so beautiful there, and you haven't... changed a-at all."
No one has ever called her beautiful.
Time keeps on ticking and her hand keeps on tightening around the boy's neck. He's still crying, the wind is blowing, and he's running out of breath.
Despite being unable to breathe, Jeongguk does nothing. And here he was able to tell her the words he always wanted to say.
"I love you, mum."
All those words killed her.

"Does anyone know where Jeongguk went?"
I was practically going on and on about Jeongguk, asking the boys of his whereabout, but no one knows.
"Are you nervous?" Hoseok asked.
"No, I don't feel anything."
"Then don't worry. Maybe he just went out to hunt."
"I won't ever stay calm unless I see his face."
"Wow, you're really Romeo now."
"Prince Romeo," Namjoon laughs.
"I just had a deep sleep. Why does he have to go everytime I'm asleep?"
I scratched my neck before heading to my room. He did go out. The window is wide open and God, why does he have to leave it that way. That was why I was freezing and I didn't even recognize.
I sighed to myself. What if he went to the palace?
Damn it.
I put on a thick jacket and headed outside, going through my window but not leaving it open.
I call for his name because who knows? He can be just in the woods.
"Jeongguk, answer me!"
I ran towards the woods, passing by big trees, hearing the bugs out, but I never thought I'd feel someone's presence.
"Jeongguk, is that you?"
My heart starts to ache. It's starting to feel the same way Jeongguk is feeling.
"Answer me," I call out, quietly this time.
I can see a figure—two figures, both kneeling down, both hiding in the dark. I heard one gasping and that's when I draw nearer to quickly embrace Jeongguk's weak and shaking frame to take him farther from the Queen.
"What did you do to him?" I screamed in anger in hopes of her telling me the truth. But by the time I caught glimpse of her eyes, I started to feel more pain in my chest.
She's crying and I've never seen her cry before. In fact, I never knew her. I know her as my mother but I don't know of the things she likes and the things she hates. I do not know what she's fond of and what her perfume smells like. I don't know the true curve of her smile and the real shape of her face. And it's all because I never wanted her. But right now... right now I feel like I'm going too soft for her, like I just want to forgive her.
But I know that's all because I wanted to give Jeongguk a chance.
I gently helped Jeongguk stand on his feet, my eyes still fixed on her eyes looking back at Jeongguk's. He's trembling and I just want to know why he is, but it seems like they have the world on their own, like I'm not here with them.
I placed Jeongguk's arm around my shoulders to keep him still, and then I asked her, "What happened?"
It was the first time my voice sounded so gentle for her.
