Chapter 2: The Uchiha Prodigy [Shippuden]

Kakashi

Jiriya sat across from me his eyes focused unwaveringly. Naruto had finally returned after two and a half years but it wasn't him that we needed to discuss. It was more or less a group of people; the Akatsuki.

"What can they be after? Why now have they chosen to show themselves?" I questioned.

"Their ultimate objection is still unclear, but I know one thing; they want the fox spirit that Naruto carries within him. As to why, well you can be sure they have some evil purpose in mind. That's why I've been going around spreading the word to our allies, something's coming and they better be on their toes" He replied finishing off the place of dango. I nodded in response; it was about as much information as I expected him to have.

"Why don't you come out and ask?" I glanced at him.

"What are you talking about?" He released a sigh as he leaned back in his chair.

"Rin Uchiha" I felt my cup drop from my hand and jumped back slightly when it hit the table.

"Rin" I repeated, the name feeling foreign on my tongue. It's been so long, too long since I've seen her. Even for the past two and a half years, I've attempted to keep myself preoccupied with anything and everything to keep my mind off her. You would think after this long it wouldn't hurt anymore.

"Well, she's made quite a name for herself." He continued withdrawing a deep green book from within his coat and placing it between us on the table.

"Dangerous, powerful, beautiful, and deadly" He said as I took the book.

"So in other words an Uchiha" He chuckled but knew it was true, she was just like her brothers and the rest of her clan. I flipped through the pages hitting Itachi first and slowly flipped the page to Rin; they finally got her.

"Picture, description, name, correct gender almost everything" I noted finding myself lingering on the picture. It was an older one, not recent but it was still her.

"The Anbu must be thrilled they finally filled that page. Though I've heard rumours that the Akatsuki has two new mystery members" I sighed nodding slightly. Seems like they were only growing.

"I also hear there still mourning the loss of Suki Yokai" I released a sigh but nodded to confirm his question. It had come to a shock when I returned with her body. The Anbu lost a great Captain, the leaf lost a great ninja and I lost an amazing friend. The funeral procession had been for her and three others Rin had killed. Now her name had joined the many others on the KIA stone.

"How are you holding up?" I closed the book placing it back on the table between us. I could lie but part of me didn't want to lie anymore.

"I worry about her almost every day. I keep thinking I'll see her walking through the gates. I still hear her laugh sometimes and I just can't seem to forget her." He chuckled then as he reached over and shook my shoulder.

"She's a charmer that one, it's part of what makes her deadly. I would be more surprised if you felt nothing." I sighed lightly as I crossed my arms on the table.

"I know. I just want to know how she's doing, if she's still the Rin I knew. This whole killing thing isn't her; she's always been a protector it worries me." I admitted. I had been on enough missions with Rin to know that much, her concern had always been others and she never killed more than needed. This had to be tearing her apart.

"I'm sure she can take care of herself" I nodded in agreement as I glanced up at the sky a hawk passing overhead.

"I just wish I knew where she was"
