Orochimaru

Rin may have fared as the better choice for this mission. Kabuto was of course exceptionally skilled but he didn't have the Sharingan. He didn't have the one thing that could put this pesky little nine-tails brat under control. I wouldn't say that I was paying the consequence but having to regenerate a new skin every time he hit was becoming a problem. Though this power was incredible, the hatred and anger this child managed to hold within him was unfathomable. The battle itself had destroyed most of the landscape and none of my jutsu had worked. I was also near my limit. As predicted this body was rejecting faster than the last, but no matter. I still had Sasuke and because of that I still had Rin. I got up slowly and hid my surprise when a leaf ninja stood a few paces from me.

"What do you want?" I asked and he faked a smile.

"I come bearing a message from Danzo to you, he says..."

"Hold it!" I interrupted.

"When you speak to me I suggest you chose your words carefully or else you'll die" It wasn't a warning or even a threat. It was a fact.

"But sir I am only allowed to relay what Danzo has instructed me to. If that displeases you then do what you will." I smirked slightly. His fake respect was beginning to annoy me and this wasn't in his favour considering I was speaking to a clone. He closed his eyes as his smile grew and I took this moment as I turned shooting a sword from my mouth. It slammed through his chest and his eyes widened as the clone melted then exploded into black ink.

"When addressing someone of superior rank proper etiquette dictates you face them directly," I stated as the ground broke open and he climbed out.

"Well then speak up." He held my gaze, the fake smile gone.

"The truth is my master Lord Danzo has longed to meet you Lord Orochimaru ever since you nearly destroyed the leaf and that is the message that Danzo wanted me to convey." I tensed slightly ready for a fight as he reached behind his back. In seconds he was on the floor with Kabuto above him, a kunai to his neck and his belongings on the ground.

"What do you think you're doing?" Kabuto asked looking up.

"Let's not be hasty Kabuto, calm down. I believe our ranks may have just increased by one." I replied.

"You don't really think we can trust this one!?" He demanded.

"The contents of that envelope might convince you, it's from Lord Danzo" I bent down and took the envelope then slipped it open. I felt my eyes widen slightly as I looked it over.

"Kabuto let the child go. We're going to be taking him with us." I told him and reluctantly he slipped off.

"What was your name?" I asked.

"Sai" I almost laughed but turned as my lips pulled into a smirk. Rin's latest target was Sai; if this was one then he wouldn't last long. She normally didn't take a target involving the leaf but by coming with me he was traitor. Rin had no problem killing traitors.

Sasuke

I ran my hands under cool water the burn marks still stung and it was a relief to just let them cool. Training had been cut short. I wasn't entirely sure what happened. It had started with a headache and then escalated to the point where she couldn't focus. I thought her curse mark was acting up but it remained dormant. Then came the pains, she couldn't even stand and soon to follow was the fever. I tried to help her, I had wanted to but her dark chakra had begun to fluctuate and I had only just made it out of the room before it covered the area. That's where the burns came from. I shut off the faucet and walked back to the training area. I cautiously pushed open the door and threw in a kunai. I watched it waiting for it to rust but nothing.

"I-It's over" A voice called softly from within. I stepped inside then and tried to keep my pace slow as I walked to Rin's side. She was on her side and I noticed her flinch as she rolled her back. There was sweat on her face and she was panting slightly and when she opened her eyes I could see how tired she was.

"Are you okay?" I asked.

"Yeah" She replied softly. I sat down beside her then and touched her forehead. Her fever had cooled.

"What happened?" She shrugged slightly and stared at the ceiling.

"I'm not sure." She said and it was silent for a bit.

"I saw Naruto" She finally said and I met her gaze as she turned her head.

"At least I-I think it was him. That's how the headache started, I just. I kept seeing flashes of him, or of this thing. I-I think he was slipping into the nine-tails form." She tried to explain.

"What would Naruto or the nine-tails have to do with what just happened?" I asked and she fell silent.

"I don't know" She admitted. I sighed lightly and pushed aside her bangs.

"Maybe the surgery wasn't as successful as we thought?" I offered and she sighed but nodded.

"Yeah, that's probably it." I noticed her eyes falter slightly.

"You'll just have to take it easy for a bit"

"I'm sick of taking it easy; I thought I was done with that stupid disease" She argued and for a second I thought she would cry but no tears came. She was just angry.

"Well they came close at least, and that's something. Plus we don't know if this is actually your illness." She sighed.

"Since when are you so optimistic" I sighed lightly as I slipped my hand in hers.

"Because I'm tired of seeing you so frustrated" I replied honestly. I noticed her smile briefly before she slowly started sitting up. I leaned forward supporting her back but she stopped and I stopped her before she could push me away.

"I don't need help."

"It's not often both Kabuto and Orochimaru are out. Just let me be your  brother." She stared up at me a moment and sighed.

"Fine" Was all she said and I suppressed a smile as I helped her stand. I supported her weight as we left the training room and walked through the halls. I pushed open the door to her bedroom a slipped inside before helping her to bed.

"Get some rest, we'll pick up training again in a few hours," I told her as I closed her door. I took a seat across the room at her desk, it was best to keep an eye out when her dark chakra was unstable. She looked towards me and smiled slightly.

"Thank you, Sasuke" Was all she said before she rolled to her side so her back now faced me. I leaned back in my chair and took the book off her desk flipping it open to where she had bookmarked. I glanced back at her and sighed. I guess if I were to have a weakness then Rin was one I was allowed to have. After all, she was one powerful weakness.
