Chapter 19

It was a cloudy morning and the whole army was lined up right next to each other with our nurses were sitting on the benches. "Weird how she has us in these thin outfits- it's so chilly out!" I whispered to Danneth, feeling the goosebumps form on my skin. "Don't know much but all I know is that we're gonna do a lot today. I can feel the determination all around." I nodded in agreement and rubbed my arm to soothe the goosebumps. All of the ladies were wearing black tight hoodie rompers while the men wore a black jumpsuit. I'm glad I'm wearing some tight fishnet stockings and a long-sleeved shirt with it because I really hate showing my skin for various of reasons. While I was checking my goosebumps, everyone bowed and I looked around and saw Universia walking down the field. I looked at her in awe as Dan was elbowing me to bow as well. "Good morning, everyone! Nice to see you all today!~" Universia stopped in front of all of us with Louis and someone else who I haven't seen before. Universia whispered to the young man and he went to sit with the nurses and he looked at Universia with a blank face and hood over his head. "I'm so excited to train with you all today!" I looked at the guy sitting on the bench and I realized he was looking at me as well! I raised a brow at him and the Mistress called me out. "Eudie? You alright?" The weird thing is she wasn't talking aloud, she was talking to me as if it were in my mind. Universia was walking back to back in the field, talking to everyone while glancing at me...

"I'll be fine." I thought to myself and she nodded with a smile. "Let us start with walks around the field and we'll see how it goes! Go talk to a comrade you haven't fully known yet." Everyone nodded and started walking and talking. I felt a tap on my shoulder and I looked behind me - Minako was smiling at me. "Eudie, right? From the elevator?" I nodded with a smile on my face. "Yes! And you're Minako, correct? Nice seeing you again!" She nodded as well and started walking beside me. "More people than I thought. It's like high school all over again. You're fourteen so you must be starting soon." Minako told me and I exhaled softly. "Yeah, I am. Is it really like this in high school?" She shrugged. "I mean, I feel like I'm in the hallway when the bell rings." I hummed in response and I look at the crowd walking with us. I saw Danny talking to someone the same height as him but husky instead of muscular- sorta like a bear. Nina was talking to Universia as she walked with us and Catherine was looking at us with one hand resting her cheek. "In middle school, there's only half the crowd," I said to Minako and she looked up at me, listening. "I'm kinda afraid of going to high school since I'm going to be by myself. I mean I know people who are going to FHS but my best friends aren't gonna be with me...they're going to another school - KHS." I then sigh deeply and Mina pouts. "High school isn't so bad- I mean, you meet new people and there are so many more possibilities to find people just like you! I was afraid too but trust me, there are bigger chances of finding new people! You even see kids you knew years back in elementary! It's crazy." I listened to her and I smiled gently. "Thank you for filling in but I'm still afraid...what if I don't see next week-"

"Don't say that, Sweetie. You're just making it harder for yourself." Mina caressed my arm and I smiled gently at her. "Yeah, you're right. Let's talk about somethin' else- wh-who's your leader? My leader is Danneth Penny. He's...right over there! That tall dude with the muscles." I nodded over where he was walking with someone else and talking to him. "Oh! I see him now! Funny because my leader, Felix, is talking with him! See that husky middle-aged man? That's Felix!" I looked at the dirty blonde man with the beard of a slightly darker shade. He was only a few inches shorter than Danneth and was quite husky and older like Minako said before. "Let's start jogging. Go at your own pace." I heard Universia's voice and everyone started jogging. I jogged at my own pace like she said and I was in the back along with Mina and other comrades. I saw this girl who was jogging in at a slow pace. She had dyed lavender locks that were in a high ponytail and was average height. She had more freckles under her eyes than I did and she had tanned skin to match her hair. She passed us and gave us a small smile as she did. "I saw the same girl earlier this week...I LOVE her hair!~" Mina told me while looking at the lady jog down the field. "Are you a hairdresser, Minako?" I asked her while looking at her own hair and she looked up at me and shook her head with a smile on her face. "Nah. I am a choreographer though- a fancy way of saying that I dance creatively." I lit up and smiled big. "Hey, I dance too!...well used to. I did all kinds of dances, especially the ones that mostly do with hips- whatever that is called. My mom used to do the things you do, that's how I got into it was also therapeutic for me. I've been through some shit and I had to get into a lot of stuff as therapy for me. Painting and dancing were and still my favorite things to do - especially playing piano...also eating food." I chuckled to myself for the last few words and Minako laughed at me and smiled, showing her teeth hearing me speak. "That's so cool! I should teach you some moves sometime!" Mina then gasped and tapped me while we jogged. "You can teach me some! We should totally hang out more!- wait...can we visit each other's rooms?"
