I run into the room and collapse beside Hanna. I almost squish her limp body but I honestly don't care. I look straight at her and start the story. I begin by saying that I am sorry and I can't be forgiven for all the horrible things I have done throughout the years that I have known her.

Then I let the words come out. I tell her about Miss Genson and how alone my life is. Hanna's face changes slightly but he knows there is something bigger to come. The windows are filled with darkness and the light rain was splattering on the window, peaceful but eerie.

I take a big breath of air and confess.

"I was...s. I..di...d..n't know... but." The rain was getting harder and coming down in torrents. The lights flickered when the wind picked up. Low rumbling thunder was outside and the window in the hall rattled with the movements. It was as if a giant wanted to enter but the house was doing its best to keep them out.

Unless it wasn't a giant, what if it was the creepy kids, climbing up the drain pipes, unlocking the windows and creeping down the hallways. I turn back to Hanna my face full of terror. She places her hand on my arm and says in a whisper

"Rubi, you can tell me. Nothing is going to happen." I open my eyes and stare into the amber pools of her eyes. I begin again and tell her doing my best to keep my voice steady and to not to stutter.

Once I have finished I was trembling and wide-eyed. I was certain that I wasn't going to sleep tonight. But Hanna helped me over to my bed and laid me down. She untied my shoe laces and pulled my shoes of. I mumbled with a smile

"Leave the socks." She laughed quietly.
I drifted off into a steady, dreamless sleep with no worry about the past, present or future.
