Chapter 1: The Mysterious Mage

???'s POV:
*huff**puff*
'I *pant* have to keep going, I can't *pant* let them catch up to me!' I thought as I ran through the forest I could hear a dozen footsteps behind me and I knew they were close. Even with my stamina and power I can't keep running forever. I was pulled out of my thoughts after I tripped and fell to the ground allowing my pursuers to catch up to me, I shakily stood and faced them...this is so not happening.

Gray's POV:
''Shut up Flame brain! I swear to god if you make one more snarky comment like that I will give you a brain freeze that will even freeze over your fire!'' I shouted as I glared at the pink haired boy in front of me, once again we were locked in an argument that would no doubt get the entire guild locked in an all against all scrap. Natsu materialized fire in his hand as I did the same with my ice,

''oh yeah brain freeze why don't you try it because if you even try to fight me I'm gonna....'' he started but before he could even finish his own sentence someone stepped between us stopping us from going any further

''okay you two cool it...not literally Gray, speaking of which why don't you go for a little walk in the forest to see if you can't calm down that temper of yours. We will keep Natsu here for the same reason. Oh but maybe you should find your pants and put them on first you know?'' Mirajane said with a gentle smile on her face as she and Lucy dragged Natsu off who was still kicking and screaming about roasting my sorry ass.

I looked down with a sigh and yelped when I noticed that I was indeed only in my boxers, damn it where the hell did I put them this time. Ur! Can't believe she made me get into this stupid habit.

After finally finding and putting on my pants I walked out of the guild and into the forest okay I couldn't find my shirt but whatever, it really was peaceful and relaxing...that was until I heard the sounds of fighting coming from not to far away, I ran towards the sounds but kept hidden in the trees just to be on the safe side. There were about six men they looked like they came from a neighbouring village and they were all attacking someone in a black cloak. The person in the cloak was fast and dodging their attacks but for some reason they looked worn out. A fire spell was thrown at them causing them to backflip and the cloak getting burned to ashes, revealing who was under it.

''A girl?'' I whispered to myself as I looked at her, she had long white hair like the snow and her eyes were an unusual shade of violet, she looked exhausted like she had been keeping this up for quite a while. I could sense that she had magic...so why wasn't she using it out of self defence? She didn't look like she could hold out like this for much longer.

''Surprise!'' One of the guys shouted as he appeared behind her she turned around her eyes wide as he shot a shadow attack at her, she crossed her hands over her face in an attempt to block the attack but it just sent her flying as she landed a few feet in front of me breathless and badly beaten up,

''Oh come on! You have such great and powerful magic I know for a fact that you could easily wipe out all six of us with just one attack that wouldn't even use a fifth of your strength, yet you insist on running and dodging out of the way why?! You even refuse to use your magic to shield yourself instead you take it head on! Quit being a coward and fight us mage!!'' the guy who just shot her screamed at her, she weakly raised her head off of the ground to glare at the six men in front of her

''Tch, I won't *cough**cough* I won't fight you I will never help or submit to you or them! *cough!* I'd sooner die before it ever came to that!'' she shouted back between coughs, I noticed that every time she coughed she brought up more blood she was too weak to deal with this...I don't know how or why but I found myself wanting to help her.

''Stubborn girl...fine then you can die and then we will take your power form your lifeless corps!'' the guy shouted as he hurled a strong shadow attack at her I looked back to her but she just sat there waiting for the attack to hit her, she couldn't move or dodge and for some reason she didn't want to use a magic shield. Before I knew what was happening my body was moving on its own, out of the shadows and in front of the girl
