Chapter 5

Kyler

I groaned as the phone rang.

Ugh.

It was way too early for a phone call.

I refused to pick it up on principle.

It stopped ringing.

Turning over, I settled back into sleep.

Ring. Ring. Ring.

Damn it.

I blindly reached over to the bedside table to find the phone, slapping my hand over it and bringing it to my ear.

"This had better be good."

"Have you been online?"

Scottie.

I felt tension seeping in.

He wouldn't be calling me at this time if it wasn't important.

"What? No, I've been asleep. Why?"

"Well, you better get on and take a look," he said grimly.

Feeling much more awake, I got up and went to my desk, waking up my laptop. I had a bad habit of only shutting it down when it was slowing, but at least I didn't have to boot it up now.

I put Scottie on speaker and set the phone down next to me as I opened the browser.

"Anywhere in particular I should go?"

"Just google yourself."

Wonderful.

I put in my name, trying to brace myself for whatever it was and hoping it wasn't actually that bad.

The search results came back almost instantly.

My stomach sank as I saw the headlines.

What had sparked this?

I clicked on the first link and a picture popped up right away.

A grainy night time picture.

Of me with Logan. In the middle of our heavy make out session.

Obviously taken from on Lindsay's property because it was zoomed in from the glass doors that faced the backyard.

"See it?" Scottie asked.

"Yes," I said tightly. "I see it."

He sighed.

"I'm sorry this came out like this. Do you want me to release a statement? Or not give a comment?"

"Don't you have any questions?"

"Hey man, I don't care who you like. It frankly shouldn't matter,even though it often affects your career- I was just trying to protect you from that. Really, whoever did this is a real piece of work."

He had that right.

And I was actually pleasantly surprised by his reaction.

"Alright. Here's the statement I want you to give- 'Yeah, he's gay. And?'"

He chuckled.

"Got it. If anyone has a problem with this, they'll look like a small-minded bigot anyway. Though, as your agent, I have to warn you- this might affect your box office draw, which could affect what parts you're given in the future."
