Arms wrapped around yourself as the night's frigid air nipped at your cheeks, causing them to flush red.
Time had escaped you. When you left the school, the sun had gone to bed, leaving an luminous orb floating in the sky. You had stayed at the university for the entire day, assiduously struggling to make a dent in your school work. In addition to that, you had also volunteered yourself for an extra shift at the student store. Money was becoming alarmingly sparse, hazardously so to the point that you would not have anywhere to live by the end of the month. The stress of your responsibilities weighed heavily on your shoulders, crippling your mercurial hopefulness.
The chilly wind blusters around you again, but that is not the reason for your visible shudder. An ominous sensation amplified with each step that took you home. There still had yet to be any text or calls from your stalker today. A very small part of you had frolicked with the notion that he had finally gotten bored in tormenting you. Or that somehow his evil doings caught up with him, and your grievances had silently been given retribution. But even you knew that was just wishful thinking. He was out there. He was biding his time, contriving the next point of attack.
A nagging, fretted voice in your head is imploring you to turn back. The voice grew louder and louder as with every block you crossed. Was it paranoia or...a bad premonition? At this point, who was to say?
You sighed, and flipped your phone open to re-read the text you had received earlier from Izaya. From: Izaya Orihara
I'm sorry if I came on a little strong today. It's just I like you so much, and I guess I couldn't help myself. (◞‸◟;)When you had obtained the message, you were still were greatly troubled from your encounter with him. His aura was definitely cogent, his seduction rattling you tremendously, and yet Shizuo's warning inhibited your mind. You might have ignored the cautionary had you not seen the scathing glimmer in Izaya's eyes. His enquires about your day felt and sounded more like an interrogation. How his voice dipped lowly, leaving a lingering impression of baleful connotations.
Feeling uneasy, you didn't reply back. Impetuous, the informant sent another other text at another time of the day.
From: Izaya Orihara
Too busy to text me back? Well, that's fine. :) I'll come see you tomorrow alright?Confusion and guilt suffocated you. Izaya Orihara may have been eccentric, and intimidating, but he cared for you and you for him. How could you fear someone who has willingly been your crutch? Why question the loyalty of the only friend you had in this city?
With your thoughts deeply somber, you once again lacked a sense of direction, and innately bumped into a bystander in your path. You let out a small 'oof', stumbling backwards at the impact, while the person sways forward.
Nippily, you recover. "Gah! I'm so s-sorry!" you exclaim, bowing to express your repentance.
'I really need to stop doing this!'
The voice that responds is calm and cool. "Don't worry about – ah, hey it's you."
Lifting your head, you discover the man who had been with Shizuo this morning. Brown suit, dreadlocks, and glasses with his hands tucked away in his pockets. What was his name?
