July 23,

Dad came home drunk again. He didn't yell at me like he usually did.  "Did you make dinner?" He asked in his slurred speech. I nodded and pointed to his plate on the table that was already warmed. "Where's my steak?" He growled looking dead at me. I paused like a deer in headlights. I had completely forgotten about the steak. "Oh,I forgot Dad. But I'll make it right now!" I said quickly with fear in my eyes. He grabbed my arm with his left hand and swung back with his right, his fist connecting with my face immediately. "You cook what I tell you to cook!" He yelled pushing me. I fell to the floor with tears in my eyes running upstairs and into the bathroom. 'He's never going to stop' I thought to myself. I have to runaway. All I needed was myself and my diary. I held on to the small book as I just laid in the tub for the rest if the night.

...
An hour later, I woke up.
My face was stinging, the moonlight shined in the cracks of the bathroom window. I jumped to my feet carefully peaking out the door to see if my dad's door was open. Thank god..it wasn't. I opened the door and ran to my room silently so he wouldn't have a reason to wake up. I locked my door behind me, putting on better jeans along with my sweater. I grabbed my phone making sure that he couldn't track me again like last time, I sighed and took one last look at my past life. I hopped out my window and closed it. I only had 800$ to my name but that was good enough. 'Time to begin my future' I mumbled and ran into the forest behind my house.
