(Kevin)"Kevin! Come help me set up the table for dinner!" My mom shouted from downstairs.
"I'll be down there in a second!" I answered. I was looking at myself in the mirror. I was frowning.
*This is a special occasion and I just look so fucking plain*
Today makes it one month that I have been dating Double D. What I thought was a phase turned out to be a complete relationship, and I was happy about that. I invited him over for dinner for our anniversary. Well, after my mom kept asking me about it.
* She has to know about us. Why else would she want to invite him over?*
I turned away from the mirror and start to head downstairs, when something caught my eye. That photo of my mom and Double D's mom was sitting on my dresser. I grabbed it and headed downstairs.
"I thought I was going to have to set the table up by myself." Mom teased, putting the plates on the table.
I rolled my eyes and smiled. "Whatever Mom... Hey can I ask you a question?" I asked
"Sure pumpkin."
"... What happened to you and Mrs. Vincent? How come you guys don't keep in touch anymore?"
She froze with her hand on a fork she had put down.
"I have no idea what you're talking about pumpkin." She said and turned around to finish cooking.
*She's trying not to look at me. *
I scowled and walked over to her. I raised the photo that was in my hand.
"Edd had this picture of you guys. You and her were best friends. What happened mom?" I asked. I had to know why.
She sighed. "Your father happened Kevin." Mom slowly turned to face me.
"Olivia was going through a rough time in her life and I wasn't there for her. I was with Chuck at the time... Let's leave it at that." She returned to her cooking.
"That's it? You abandoned her? Wasn't she your best friend? Why would you do that to her?" I was mad. I couldn't believe she would do that to her own best friend.
"Just leave it alone, Kevin."
"But--"
"I said leave it!" She yelled.
Just then, the doorbell rang. Neither of us moved. I was too pissed.
* I would never abandon my friends.*
"I guess I will get it." Dad said coming from down the stairs. He walked over to the door.
"Edd! Welcome, come on in." He said.
"Thank you Chuck." Edd said, walking in.
"Eddward sweetie! It's so good to see you!" Mom ran past me to give double d a hug.
