(Kevin)

He refused to say anything. He didn't say anything when I finally convinced him to come out of the bathroom. By that time, everyone had left. He didn't say anything on the ride home or when I followed him up to his snow-covered house.

When we got to the door, he abruptly stopped and turned around to face me. He immediately looked down at his feet.

"If it's not too much trouble Kevin, I think I would like to be by myself for the night." His voice was so quiet...so emotionless.

My heart was breaking. It felt like it could shatter into pieces. Why does it feel like I ruin everything?

"... Did I do something wrong Eddward?"

"No!" He blurted, quickly looking up at me. My somber green eyes stared into his panic-filled icy blues.

"If I didn't do anything wrong, then why did you run out the room like that?"

He remained silent. His eyes were looking everywhere else except at me.  I couldn't take it anymore. I started to get pissed off. I grabbed both of his arms.

"WHAT THE HELL HAPPENED TO YOU DORK?" I yelled.

"Kevin please...My birthday had always been a tiresome and emotional day for me. Your surprise party was amazing. It was the best present anyone has ever given me. It just...overwhelmed me. Please understand." He said. He really did look tired. His eyes were dull and listless.  His skin was ghostly and sick.  He looked almost broken down.

I wanted to say, no,I don't understand. I wanted to carry Edd into his house and take care of him, be with him. I wanted to help him, but I didn't know how. I slowly let go of his arms, and sighed deeply.

"Okay dork. Have a goodnight." I forced out the words.

"Goodnight Kevin."

Double D turned back around and reached for the door knob. Without thinking, I put my hand on his shoulder.

"Wait!" I shouted.

He slowly turned around and looked at me with those dull eyes.

"How may I assist you?"

"Well," I said, nervously rubbing the back of my neck. I felt the heat coming from my cheeks.

"Can I at least get a kiss from my boyfriend?" I asked.

I see him hesitate for a minute. Then I noticed the slight flicker of sadness in his crystal blue eyes. It was so faint, I could have missed it if I wasn't paying attention.

"Of course." He replied, giving me a smile. I couldn't tell if it was genuine or not.

I caressed his cheeks with both of my hands and then I gently planted a soft and passionate kiss. I felt him press his body against mines. I held back a moan. I tried to be delicate, trying not to push him too far, even though I wanted go deeper. My efforts were slightly wasted because his lips were trembling underneath mine.

I pulled away and looked in his eyes. They definitely were sad now.

"I'll talk to you tomorrow, okay dork?" I asked softly, rubbing his right cheek with my thumb.

"Okay" he responded. I held his face for awhile, not wanting to leave.

This night was not suppose to go like this. He was supposed to be having fun. He was supposed to be happy. He was supposed to love chocolate again.

I eventually let go of his face. I watched him as he went inside his dark and empty house and lock his door. Then I put my hands in my pockets and started walking towards my house.
