(Edd)
*Can these stares get any more intense?*
It has been almost a month since Kevin confessed his love for me in front of the entire school, and every day at school people have been staring at me with no hesitation. Although the amount of bullying I have received since then has somewhat decreased, my uneasiness has increased tenfold.
*This is a good thing right? Then why do I feel so much dread? As if something bad is going to occur any minute....*
"Yo Sockhead! Snap out of it!" Eddy interrupted my thoughts.
"Eddy why do you still have to resort to that ridiculous pet name when I am not even wearing my beanie anymore?" I questioned.
"Because I've been calling you that for years, and I refuse to change now." He stated. I let out a small sigh.
Ed, Eddy, and I were standing by Eddy's locker, while he was grabbing his usual dirty magazines for class.
"You need to worry about important things besides why I call you Sockhead.....or why these idiots keep staring at you." He commented, closing his locker. My eyes widened in surprise as we started walking towards Ed's locker.
*He must have noticed the concerned expression on my face*
"And what would that be?" I gazed at him while Ed was trying to get his books from his messy locker.
"Like trying to figure out how you going to ask shovel-chin out for prom."
My jaw completely dropped.
*I had utterly forgotten about prom!*
Prom was one week away, which meant school was almost over. Only a few weeks to go. There weren't any exams to fret over because seniors had the opportunity to take theirs early, so there wasn't really any point to attend school except for the fact of hanging out with friends as much as possible. Until adult life inevitably tore them apart...possibly for good.
Prom was the whole reason why Kevin, Nathan and Miss Nazz couldn't walk with us to school this morning. They had to attend a sports department meeting about the last game of the school year. I wanted to take the initiative in asking Kevin to prom first, since he always take the initiative in anything we do. It was the last chance for me to do so before graduation.
*Kevin...what will become of us after the school year has ended? Will we go our separate ways?*
I haven't even thought about life after High School, which is terribly unlike me. I thought about going to Dartmouth because of their wonderful engineering program. But of course my parents want me to attend Harvard and continue their legacy in the medical field. I let out a loud groan.
*Good Lord, what on Earth shall I do?*
"You're overthinking things again, aren't you?" Eddy asked.
"....perhaps a tad bit." I wearily admitted.
"Just take it one step at a time Double D." Ed said. I smiled at him. They began to walk me to Mr. Peterson's class, a routine that has been effortlessly repeated.
"Well I know Eddie is going to try to ask out Miss Nazz, but what about you at? Who would you like to ask out for prom?"
Suddenly Ed grew quiet, and he slowed down his pace just a bit, but it was enough to grab Eddy's and my attention.
