(Kevin)"Where the hell is he??" I said to myself. It was lunch time and Double D wasn't sitting at his usual spot with the other dorks. As a matter of fact, neither was Jones.
I sat by myself at my own table, drumming my fingers and scowling. I pulled out my phone to look at Edd's messages again.
[7:15am] Edd: Good morning my pumpkin. I would like to thank you for the gift you gave me. It was quite exquisite. Can't wait to see you. I love you Kevin.
[7:30am] Edd: Kevin? Are you alright? Why aren't you replying to my message?
[7:45am] Edd: My apologies for disturbing you again Kevin. I just wanted to resend my gratitude for the gift. It was truly beautiful. I guess I'll chat with you later. Have a good day Kevin.
It broke my heart that I couldn't talk to Edd. It was Nat's stupid idea to not talk to him while we get things ready for his surprise birthday party. He said something like, Absence makes the heart grow fonder. Complete bullshit I know, but Nat's stupid ideas have a tendency to work out in the end... sometimes.
I continued to stare at the text messages. The dork said that I gave him a gift. I frowned.
*Who the hell gave him a gift? Why would he think it came from me?*
I shook my head. I could probably guess that Jones gave him the gift, but I still don't understand why would Edd would think it was from me.
Whatever the case, I know that my present will definitely have him smiling. I came up with the idea to gather up everyone from our childhood and surprise Edd with a chocolate cake.
He told me what happened with his nanny and how every year since then, he has spent his birthdays either alone, or with dumb and dumber. This party will show him that he had never been alone and he never will be. I want to give him back his love for chocolate. It will definitely mean so much more than some bullshit gift.
I glanced back at my phone. I missed Edd and his gap-toothed smile. I haven't seen him all day, which is not something he would do.
*Maybe I should text him back*
As soon as I got done sending a message, Nat caught me off guard by snatching away my phone.
"Now I know we aren't doing something stupid that could ruin the plan...are we?" He asked with his eyebrow raised. He was slightly tossing my phone in the air.
I immediately stood up and stuck my hand out.
"Give me back my fucking phone Nat. It's too late anyway, I already sent him a text." I said.
"Awww why? So not choice bruh." He whined. He reluctantly tossed me my phone. I rolled my eyes.
"I can't just ignore him Nat. He's my... boyfriend." I whispered at the end. I knew that Double Dork wasn't ready to let the whole school know about us. I wasn't even sure if I was ready, I mean, I know that I was pushing the envelope with being in charge of this party. But, I also know that whatever happens, I was prepared to face it, as long as Edd was by my side.
"Is it really necessary to ignore him completely in order to throw him a surprise party?" I asked.
Nat shrugged his shoulders. "I've seen it in movies." I rubbed my face in annoyance.
"Speaking of, where is the cutie?" Nat asked.
"That's why I messaged him. Come to think of it..." I trailed off. I was thinking about Nazz.
