Seventeen

         I walk into school the next day with my decision. I scan the halls for Cassie first. I find her by her locker.
"Hey." I say
"Hey." She says
"I made a decision." I say
"Really?? Who?!" She exclaims
"You'll find out don't worry." I say
I smirk and walk to my locker. Jack comes over to me.
"Hey." He says
"Hi." I say
I take a deep breath, but I get cut off.
"Jack! Over here!" Someone calls
"Be right back." Jack says
I nod. I open my locker and get my books out. I look over at Jack, he's talking with his friends. I sigh and walk into class.
When 2nd period comes along, Jack finds me in the hall again.
"Hey. Did you want to tell me something?" He asks
"Um yeah." I say
"Ok what?" He asks
I take a deep breath. But then I see Max watching a little farther down the hall.
"Actually..it can wait." I say
"Uh okay.." Jack says
He hurried off to class. I sigh and walk over to Max.
"What did you tell him?" Max asks
"Nothing." I say
"You we're going to tell him that you chose him right?" Max asks
"Yeah...." I say
"Julia, its fine. I've seen the way he looks at you, he really likes you." Max says
"Yeah. I just don't know how to tell him." I say
"Just say it." Max says
I nod.
"I'll always be here for you." Max says
"Thanks." I say
He nods. We hug. I let go.
"I should get to class." I say
He nods. I walk to class.
Max's POV
During study hall, I find Jack sitting on the steps doing his homework. I join him.
"Hey." I say
He looks up.
"Hey." He says
"Tell me about yourself." I say
"What?" He asks
"Tell me something about yourself." I say
"Uh okay...um my full name is Jackson." He says
"Oh. I didn't know that." I say
He nods. His phone goes off, he picks it up. He looks at me.
"Be right back." He says
Jack hurries down the stairs, I look around. Everyone is doing their homework. I slide over and click on Jack's phone. I go into his messages. My eyes widen. I scroll through all the messages, he's been texting 3 different girls, saying that he loves them. No, Julia can't ask him out. But if I tell her what I found I would get in trouble. I take his phone with me to find Cassie.

I find her down the hallway by her locker.
"Cassie!" I say
She looks up.
"Oh hi max." She says
I need to tell you something." I say
"Okay." She says
"You know how Julia is gonna ask Jack out?" I ask
"Wait she's gonna ask Jack? Wow I didn't know that." She says
"Well look what I found on his phone!" I exclaim.
I show her the messages, she takes the phone from me.
"What the..." she trails off
"I can't tell Julia because then she'll get mad that I was snooping." I say
Cassie sighs.
"Where's Jack now?" She asks
"I don't know his phone went off, he looked at it then said he'd be right back." I say
"We can't let Julia ask him out. But we can't tell her what we found." Cassie says
"Well we need to do something!" I exclaim.
Ryan and Ashley come over to us.
"What's going on?" Ryan asks
I show them the messages.
"Isn't Julia gonna ask Jack out?" Ashely asks
"Yes! But look, Jack's cheating on 3 girls!" I exclaim
"What do we do?" Ryan asks
Cassie stands up.
"We can't tell Julia what we found, she'll get mad at us for snooping." Cassie says
"But she can't date a player." Ashley says
I click the phone off.
"Jack 10 o'clock." Ryan says
I turn around.
"Oh Jack you left your phone." I say giving it to him.
"Oh thanks I was just coming to look for it." He says
I nod. He clicks his phone on.
"Were you looking at my messages?" He asks
"Julia doesn't deserve a guy like you." I say
"Wait what?" Jack asks
"She was gonna ask you out." Ashely says
"She was??" He asks
I nod.
"But now that you're a player we'll let her know." Ryan says
"I was only texting these girls in case Julia didn't ask me out." Jack says
"Then where did you go when you told me be right back?" I ask
"To the bathroom?.." Jack says unsurely
"Yeah right." Cassie says
"Only one girl that I'm texting goes to our school and she's in class right now. I truly went to the bathroom." Jack says
"If Julia was really going to ask me out I'll stop texting these girls I promise." Jack says
I look at everyone. They seem unsure.
"Please give me a chance." Jack pleads.
"One chance. That's all you get." Ryan says
"Fine. One chance." He says
"Don't blow it." I say
