Shah Rukh Khan-1996

I had woken up and she had left. My bed felt so empty without her there and I prayed I hadn't hurt her in any way. I had gone to check on her in the afternoon to find her apartment empty and when she didn't return that night I assumed I'd read the whole situation wrong. I had taken her honour and scared her off all in one night. I should have just stopped at the kiss but she had seemed like she wanted more, or maybe that was just how I wanted to read her? When she didn't return to her apartment for a whole month I was sure I had hurt her, pushed her to far, scared her away. That was until I found her note saying she was going away to film for five months and that she didn't want to wake me. I felt like such an idiot but that night had felt like I had finally got her back and then lost her again. In fact every time the lift pinged I hoped it was her but deep down I knew it wasn't. Five months is a pretty long time but it's longer when you're waiting for your love to return. I feel so incomplete without Kajol here, even though all she used to do was bring round take-aways. I'm trying to read over my new script when I hear the lift ping. I lower the script down and place it on the coffee table in front of me. For some reason this lift ping seems different. I push myself off the sofa and creep towards the door unlocking it slowly before pulling it open. I stick my head out and look down the hallway in the direction of the lift.
"Namaste," she calls down the corridor a broad smile on her face. I step out of the apartment and fling my arms open-how they have longed to hold her. She drops her bags and runs towards me. I lace my arms around her waist lifting her off the ground and spin her around as she giggles.
"You don't understand how much I have missed you," I whisper into her ear holding her close to me. I feel her smile against my neck and scrunch my face up to prevent me from crying.
"I missed you too," she murmurs, "I would have called but I don't have your number." I pull back from her and kiss her forehead. She looks exactly like she did the day I fell in love with her only she does look happier. The lift pings again and I release her stepping back towards my apartment as she moves towards hers.
"I've got your bags Miss Mukherjee," Akash chirps rolling a suitcase behind him as he picks up the bags Kajol dropped by the lift doors.
"Thank you Akash," she smiles as he deposits them in her apartment. She pulls some notes out of her pocket and hands them to Akash with a wink. We both watch as he steps into the lift with a wave before the doors slide shut. I saunter over to Kajol's door leaning against the door frame.
"I've missed you," I say again. I just want her to know that I'm not going to let her go again without a fight. She smiles at me drumming her fingers against the door.
"I need to freshen up," she says, "then we can get dinner?" I feel a mischievous smile playing on my lips.
"Why don't I help you freshen up?" I flirt watching as Kajol starts to bite her bottom lip. Almost being caught by Akash the doorman has made me feel like a rebellious child. Kajol pushes me backwards towards my apartment letting her door shut. I've noticed we never seen to be in her apartment which is odd but as long as I get to see her I don't care where we meet. I place my hands on her waist and pull her towards me placing my lips on hers feeling a rush through my body. She kisses me back as we stumble through my door and I slam it shut with my foot. I pull her towards my bedroom and into my ensuite. She pushes me off her feeling slightly more comfortable since the first time we slept together. She smiles at me turning the shower on and testing the temperature before pulling the zip on her kameez as far as she can get it. I wrap my arms around her waist and walk her into the shower feeling the water splash down my face and soak into my clothes. I pull the zip down before pulling the top half over her head throwing the wet fabric into the bathroom with a slop. I let my lips trace her back as she giggles making me smile. I slowly work my way up to her neck and leave her a love bite feeling like a naught teenager as she spins round in my arms and places her hands on the soggy fabric of my top.
"I've got to see my parents tomorrow," she giggles referring to the love bite. I smile at her.
"Nothing a little make-up can't hide," I laugh kissing her lips again.

The phone vibrates against the wood of my bedside table midway through the scene I'm practising with Kajol. She looks apologetic as she reaches for it and sighs. She presses the green button and brings the phone to her ear.
"Haan ma?" She tries to sound happy to hear from her but I can tell she's not. I write a mental note to ask her about how things are going at home as she rolls her eyes and sighs.
"Nahin ma," she elongates the words closing her eyes and resting her head in her free hand. I place my script on the bed next to me and crawl over to her placing my left hand on her waist. She smiles at this and tries to bat me away as I kiss her neck. She starts to giggle which makes her mum start shouting down the phone in a way which makes her words merge into one long buzzing sounds. I continue to pester Kajol as she tries to calm her mum down which makes Kajol laugh even harder.
"Ma you're breaking up," Kajol mutters between her laughs before hanging up the phone and throwing it onto the carpeted floor. She places her hands on my shoulders and pushes me onto the bed straddling my waist.
"You're so annoying," she pokes my sides making me grin. I feel like an idiot for thinking I'd hurt her and that makes my grin fade slightly.
"I thought I'd hurt you," I mumble watching a Kajol's face become etched with confusion.
"Hurt me?" She repeats my words pursing her lips.
"I woke up and you'd left? I thought I had hurt you physically, emotionally, mentally and then after a whole month I found your note and felt like an idiot," I slap my forehead at how stupid I sound. I feel Kajol put her hand over mine lifting it off my face. I open my eyes to see her smiling at me.
"You're my idiot though," she laughs before climbing off me and picking up her copy of my script. She gestures for me to start reading again and I sit up.
"I love you," I smile feeling free after saying the words I've longed to say.
"I love you too," Kajol kisses my cheek and I feel a tingling sensation like fairy dust settle over me.
