Is Wad a gang leader? Fluke played the character in the hit drama series.
Wad had a free time before attending the next class so he was playing basketball on the court alone. He was quite a good player when he was on high school but he had not play for a while . and he felt a bit rusty.
Kongpope walked on to the court to meet Wad . He was here to gave him the lecturer notes from the professor that Wad missed.
"Hi Wad. Did not see you on the first class today," greet Kongpope standing on the side of the court.
"Hi Kong," greet Wad back. He dribbled the ball and do a lay up to get the ball into the ring. A success.
He walked to Kongpope. He had enough basketball time.
"I had something to do this morning." He sat on the bench near the court. He opened his backpack , take out a bottle of water and drank it.
Kongpope sat next to Wad and gave him the notes. "Here are today notes. You should give more attention to your study cause exam will come very soon."
Wad nodded.
"I know, Kong. But I am pretty busy this few days. " He accepted the notes and put them into his backpack. "Thanks for the notes. I will give it back tomorrow."
"So it's true?"
"What's true?" Wad gave Kongpope a puzzled look.
" The gossip that you are a gang leader. Thats why you always late at the morning class and sleeping most of the time in there?" asked Kongpope curious.
Silent from Wad. Akward silent for few seconds. Kongpope afraid that he asked the wrong question and Wad will explode with anger anytime soon. Instead he heard laughter erupted from Wad. A genuine laugh out loud laughter.
Kongpope stunned for a while. He never see Wad laughed so freely since he know him. He looked so different from his usual moody self. Is this the same person?
"This is so funny," said Wad between the laughter. " Who started this ridiculous gossip?"
"Dont know." Kong raise his shoulders. " I heard it from Em and he heard it from someone else. So what is the real reason for all the lateness?"
Wad hesitated for a while. He don't like to talk to someone about his personal life . He learned from a young age that it's better to keep everything inside. But he like Kongpope. He was the first real friend he had here. Kongpope did not hesitate to gave Wad, his own SOTUS t-shirt at the first day orientation when the t-shirt out of stock. Kongpope always ask about his well being and lent him notes so he can catch up studying.
"I took lots of part time jobs, Kong," explained Wad. "I delivered newspapers in the morning. Go to classes. Then delivering food at the afternoon and work as waiter in the evening. Saturday and Sunday I also work another part timer."
Kongpope was speechless for a while. No wonder Wad did not had any energy left at the classes and did not participate on the orientation many times. He pratically did not had time to sleep.
" Maybe you should cut one or two of the job so you could concentrate on your campus life, Wad ," advised Kongpope. He looked at Wad worriedly. " You also need to take care of your health."
Wad sighed. "I wish I can. Even with so many jobs, I still a bit behind on the tuition fee payment and living expenses. But no worries, I will figure it out and balancing work and study. I always do."
Kongpope want to asked more but he stopped himself. It look like this was about as much as Wad want to shared with him. He don't want to snoop too much about Wad private life. Wad will tell him more if he wish to next time. So he changed the conversation.
"Maybe you can tell our friends about the part time jobs and clarify the false rumour?"
" Let it be. I don't had the energy to told them about the truth. Then they will asked more question about why I do so many jobs and so on."
"Okay Wad. It's your call. If they asked me, I will just tell them that you are not a gang leader without revealing the reason, " offered Kongpope. " You should socialise more. Make more friends."
Wad agree with Kongpope advice. He will try to make more friends and start fresh after awful incidents in high school.
"About the SOTUS orientation , I know you had hard time accepting the orders from our senior. Some of them totally do not make sense. But some of them built solidarity and unity among us the first year students. Overall , the senior had good intention but maybe a bit rough on execution."
Wad smiled warmly. "Okay, saint Kong," he teased. " I will try to attend the orientation again as long as it did not clash with my part time job. I give it another go." But to trust the seniors words will be very tough for him. He had been burned before by his seniors in high school.
Kongpope touched Wad shoulder . "Got to go, Wad. " He stand up. "*P'Minnie asked me take to help him on a contest for freshman."
Wad had to gave his respect to Kongpope. He totally immersed himself to campus life with all their activities and always lend a hand to help friends who needed .
"Okay. See you later, Kong. And thanks for the whole pep talk. I appreciated all your help too."
"No prob. That whats a friend for." Kongpope flashed his trademark smile and walk away.
Wad sat there for a few minutes enjoying the gentle wind that blowing the area. Then he get up and went to the next class.
