Simon and I spent almost four hours on the phone talking about our life, our dreams and fears, and past relationships. I opened up to him more than I ever did in my year and a half long relationship with Nick. It felt good to have someone wanting to know every little thing about me and to actually be interested in what I was saying. I learned about Simon as well, like how he's fourteen years older than me, was married with a daughter, and had been single for the last four years because he wanted to just focus on his child and work. It was kind of admirable hearing him gush about his daughter and then get embarrassed when he realised twenty minutes had passed. 'I think it's sweet.' I told him when he kept apologising for it. After the phone call was over I laid in bed and replayed the whole night in my head over and over. The more I thought about Simon the more I smiled. I couldn't stop thinking about him. He was invading every part of my mind but I didn't care. Finally, I fell asleep but for the first time in six months with a smile on my face and excited to wake up the next day.

The next morning I woke up to a text from Simon, 'I loved talking with you last night. Maybe we can do dinner tonight? X' A smile instantly appeared on my face and I felt so giddy. 'Sounds great. Call me later? xx' I put my phone back on my bedside table and skipped into the bathroom to get ready for work. For the first time in months I was excited for life and was even singing in the shower again, which I couldn't even remember the last time I did that. Lately I've only been crying whenever I took a shower but not this time. After the shower I continued blasting music while I picked out an outfit and did my hair and makeup. When I was finished I called up Laura to tell her everything that had happened. 'It's not even nine, Adele!' She said clearly still asleep. 'Good Morning, sleepy head!' I yelled through the phone. 'Someone is in a good mood. I take it you've talked to Simon?' She asked. 'Only for four hours last night and we're going to dinner tonight. I have date! Can you believe that?' You could hear the excitement in my voice and I couldn't hide it no matter how hard I tried. 'Seriously? I'm so bloody excited for you! Ahhh! You have a date!' She quipped. 'Will you come shopping with me? I want to look really good for him.' I asked. She gladly accepted and I told her I would pick her up around noon.

Before I met up with Laura, I had a work meeting and on the drive there I received a call from Simon. 'Hi, Simon.' I answered trying not to sound overly excited to hear his voice. 'Morning, Adele. I really enjoyed our conversation last night.' He said. 'Me too. So dinner tonight, huh?' I let out a soft laugh. 'Please. Can I pick you up around 8? I know just the place for a proper first date.' I honestly don't remember if I've ever been this excited for a date, ever. 'I'll text you my address. See you then.' And then we hung up right when the car arrived at the office. 'Have a good day, ma'm.' My driver said as he helped me out of the car. 'You too, Joseph.' All through the meeting the only thing that was on my mind was Simon. I even kept writing his name over and over instead of the notes I was suppose to be taking. 'Adele! You're glowing. You haven't been this happy in so long.' My colleague Jonathan said when he came up to me. 'I'm just really happy.' I told him gathering my things to leave. 'Clearly.' He said laughing when he saw what I had written all over my notebook.

Once I picked up Laura, we stopped by a little corner café for some lunch before we started shopping. 'It's so refreshing to see you this happy.' Laura said while we were eating. 'I feel the same way.' I told her finishing my sandwich and crisps. After lunch we walked around the local shops trying to find the perfect outfit. 'What about this one?' Laura asked holding up a burnt orange georgette dress with lace. 'It's perfect! I think I even have shoes that will go with it.' Without even trying it on I bought it right away and then we headed back to my home. Since it was still too early to get ready, Laura and I sat on the couch watching reruns of the Kardashians and drinking tea. When it was time to get ready I did my makeup while Laura offered to do my hair, I put on the dress and looked in the mirror. 'Adele... Simon is going to be one lucky man.' Laura said giving me a hug. 'I hope so.' I said tearing up. 'What's wrong, babe? You look great.' She said when she saw me crying. 'I know. I'm happy that's all. It's just such a relief to finally be myself again.' I told her gently wiping my eyes while trying not to ruin my makeup. While I was finishing getting ready there was a knock on the door. 'I'll get it.' Laura hollered. She opened the door and it was Simon. 'You must be Simon. I'm Laura. Adele will be right down.' He reached out and shook her hand. 'Good to meet you.' He said and then his head turned when he heard me coming down the hall. 'Wow. You look beautiful, Adele.' I instantly started to blush. 'Thank you.' I said in a shy voice. 'Should we get going?' He asked holding the door open for me. 'I'll call when I get home. Love you.' I told Laura giving her a hug. 'Have fun you two crazy kids.' She yelled as she closed the door behind us. As Simon was walking me to his car he discreetly moved his hand to mine and intertwined it.
