When he held onto my hand, even if it was only for a minute or two, my whole body tingled. I couldn't believe that this was the one thing I was missing from my life and it took my heart being broke to find it. 'Thank you.' I told him as he opened his car door for me. He smiled and nodded and then closed it before getting in on his side. 'So how do you feel about Chinese?' He asked as he pulled out of my driveway. My face lit up, 'excellent choice.' I could feel him starring at me at the red light but I didn't want him to know so I started to smile and then turned towards the window. When we arrived at the restaurant, he parked his car and once again opened my door. 'I think you're the only man whose ever done that for me.' I told him as he reached for my hand walking inside. 'Only being a gentleman.' He replied nonchalantly.
Dinner was wonderful. We spent almost three hours at the restaurant drinking, eating, and laughing. He showed me pictures of his daughter and then said next week was his week with her so we wouldn't be able to see each other. 'I just want to make sure it's serious with us before she meets you. Not that I don't think you're great, I just want to be careful when it comes to her.' Being a dad was so important to Simon, you could tell anytime he mentioned his daughter, so I knew I would meet her when he was ready. When we left the restaurant he asked if I wanted to go to a bakery around the corner. 'They have the best pastries in town.' He said. I was just happy to be spending time with him. I closed my eyes as we got closer to breathe in the smell of the desserts. 'Wait till you taste one!' Simon laughed when he saw me. We walked into the bakery and apparently he comes here a lot because they all knew who he was. 'Hey, Simon. Where's my little friend?' The girl behind the counter asked. 'I get her on Sunday.' He told her. 'This is my friend, Adele.' He said pointing towards me. 'I thought I would make a good impression and bring her in so give me a box of your best stuff.' I started to blush just hearing him say my name. 'Here you go. It's on the house!' The girl said handing Simon the big pink box. 'Thanks, Charlie. I'll bring Scarlett by next week.'
We took the pastries back to Simon's car and sat there in a comfortable silence. He handed me a mini lemon tart with a sugared biscuit on top. 'Do you want to take these back to my place?' I asked taking a bite. 'Wow, this is amazing! Like seriously good!' I told him captivated by the delicious taste of the pastry. 'We can if you like. They're pretty good, right. Best place around hands down.' He replied. After he finished his first one, he started driving back to my house. One the drive back my hand kept slowly getting closer to his, where it eventually landed. He turned to look at me and I just smiled and looked away. I could feel him rubbing his thumb over my skin and the need for him kept growing. I desperately wanted to kiss him but was kind of scared to make the first move. When we arrived back at my house I unlocked the door and Simon followed me into the kitchen. 'It's beautiful.' He said looking around. 'Thanks. Do you want a cup of tea or I might have some beer?' I asked rummaging through my fridge. 'I think tea goes better with pastries.' He responded with a laugh. I fixed us both some tea and then we went to sit on the sofa in the living room. 'You know what goes good with pastries and tea?' Simon gave me a funny look and shook his head. 'My Big Fat Greek Wedding.' I grabbed the remote and got up to put the DVD in. I'd be lying if I said I didn't turn up the sexiness when I was bending down in front of him knowing he was watching me. 'Have you ever seen this?' I asked setting the movie up. 'I don't think so.' He replied and I could tell by his breathing he liked what he saw. 'Well get ready to laugh your ass off!' I excitedly said as I sat back down on the sofa next to Simon.
As the movie played, Simon and I started moving closer and closer together without even realising it. Before I knew it one of his arms were around my shoulder and I had a hand on his leg. I felt so comfortable with him, which was odd for me because this was only our first date and I had just met him the night before. I watched Simon while he laughed at the movie and fell in love with the way his mouth feel open when he laughed and his nose would crinkle up. His fingertips felt soft and comforting as his hand trailed up and down my shoulder sending shivers up my spine. 'I'm pleased that my first time seeing this movie was with you.' Simon said leaning his head closer to me. I turned my head and our faces were only inches apart with our breath the only thing filling the space between us. His eyes drew me in and I felt like I could lost in them. 'You know how beautiful you are, right? I feel like this is a dream sitting her with you.' He said taking his other hand to move my hair behind my ear and I closed my eyes when I felt his skin touch my face. This was a perfect first date. I opened my eyes and decided to take my chance to lean in and connect our lips. It was a soft gentle kiss but I didn't want it to end. 'It's late. I should go.' Simon said getting up from the sofa and helping me to my feet. I walked him to the door, 'tonight was amazing. Thank you so much.' I told him wrapping my arms around him. 'I'll call you in the morning.' He said kissing my forehead and then leaving.
