Even after Simon left I could still feel his touch on my lips. I was so infatuated with him that I couldn't think of anything else. And then my phone rang. 'I need details. It's two in the morning, I've been waiting all night for you to call.' It was Laura and she was impatiently waiting for me to tell her about my night with Simon. 'It was perfect. We had Chinese, watched a movie and then we kissed. No big deal really.' I told her trying to downplay how magical the night really was. 'Wait you kissed him or did he kiss you? Details, Adele, I need details!' She yelled. 'I kissed him but he kissed me back. It just felt so right, you know. I'm really happy, Laura.' I said flopping down on my bed against the plushness of my duvet. 'Good for you a baby girl! About damn time you found a real man.' We talked for a few more minutes and then hung up because we were both exhausted. I went to sleep with my heart full of so much happiness that I thought it would actually burst.

The sound of rain crashing against my window woke me from a dead sleep. I turned to look at the clock that read; 6.55. My head hit my pillow and I grabbed the one next to me to put it over my face to try and block out the noise. It didn't help. Might as well get up, I thought to myself when I realised I wasn't going to be able to go back to sleep. After reluctantly getting out of bed and putting my dressing gown on, I made my way into the kitchen for a cup of tea. The only thing on my schedule for the day was the charity event with Laura tonight. I walked over to the sofa and flipped through the channels on tv trying to find something to watch other than the news. Around 9, I was busy tidying up my house when the doorbell rang. I opened it to find a man delivering flowers, 'Delivery for Ms. Adkins.' He handed me the flowers, I closed the door and walked into the kitchen to set the flowers down. There was a card on top, 'how about we make this official? Dinner Friday. Simon x' I picked up my phone, that was on the coffee table, to text Simon. 'Flowers are amazing! Pick me up at 8 on Friday? x' The smile on my face grew the more I thought about seeing Simon on Friday. To take my mind off of him I went into my wardrobe to find something to wear for the charity event with Laura.

'Adele! You ready?' Laura yelled through my house when she arrived to pick me up for the event. I hurried to get everything into my handbag and rushed downstairs. 'This look okay?' I asked stopping by the mirror in the foyer to have a last check. 'You're gorgeous.' Laura said. I settled on a black ballgown with black sequins and barely there cutouts on the shoulders. 'It isn't to fancy?' Suddenly I was feeling a little over dressed. 'Please, you'll be the best dressed there. Plus you might even be underdressed compared to some of those other snobby rich people.' We giggled and made our way to the car. 'You look fantastic by the way. A perfect mermaid!' I told Laura checking out her outfit. She was in a teal and purple dress that was tighter on the top with green sleeves and of course her signature bright pink lipstick. 'Who doesn't want to look like a mermaid? Best compliment ever!' She gushed. When we were teenagers we would always lay in the park and daydream about what it would actually be like to be mermaids. 'Imagine the hair!' We would say. When we got to the event everything was so glamorous and felt like I was defiantly out of place. Laura and I headed straight to the bar and laughed at ourselves the whole walk there at how ridiculous we felt being there. 'Two glasses of wine and keep'em coming.' Laura told the bartender. Out of the two hundred people there we didn't see anyone we knew until I heard a familiar voice behind me. 'You, my dear, look gorgeous.' I turned around and It was Simon. 'What are you doing here?' I asked giving him a hug and a kiss on the cheek. 'Last minute plans with a mate. I didn't know you were coming.' He kept looking at me up and down. 'I came with Laura. Laura this is Simon.' I said introducing the two. 'Pleasure to meet you again.' Simon said shaking Laura's hand. 'Nice to see the man my best friend keeps talking about, again.' Laura told him, making me blush. 'I should get back but I'll see you Friday, yeah?' I nodded my head and Simon leaned in to give me a kiss. 'See you then, my girl.' He said letting go of my hand at the last minute.

I watched him walk away fully enthralled by his being. I had just seen him the day before and I already missed him. 'He's lovely.' Laura said bringing me back to reality. 'He's amazing.' I said not breaking my eyes away from him. 'I defiantly approve.' She exclaimed and then we switched our attention to finding some food. 'Laur, this food is the worst. Pizza and beer instead?' She grabbed my hand and we ran out of the building. 'You read my mind!' There was a pizza place a couple of streets over so we decided to walk instead of hailing a taxi. Feeling the cool autumn breeze against my face was a nice distraction from how hot my body felt thinking about Simon.
