The light of the morning sun creeping through my curtains woke me up before I was ready. I rolled over and pulled the blankets over my head to try and get more sleep but then my phone started ringing. I ignored it figuring it was work wondering if I was coming in but I just felt like disappearing for awhile. But then my phone rang again and I angrily threw the blankets off and grabbed my phone. Without looking at who was calling I answered with an annoyed tone. 'It's nine in the morning. This better be important.' The breathing on the other end sounded familiar. 'It's Nick.' My eyes flew open and my face grew white. 'Wha...what do you want?' I asked trying to gather my words. 'I just wanted to call and ask if you heard.' I took a couple of deep breaths before responding. 'About you getting engaged three months after you left me. Yeah I heard what about it.' I was starting to get more angry with each passing second of this phone call. 'I wanted to apologise for not telling you myself.' On accident I let out a laugh without realising it. 'Good to know. Have a good life, Nicolas.' I hung up before he could say anything and for the first time in six months I was proud of myself for not letting him get to me. I immediately texted Laura to tell her what happened and then a feeling of loneliness came over me. But I couldn't let this be my life anymore. I went straight into my bathroom, started the shower, brushed my teeth and then started to get ready.

'Hello.' Laura answered. 'Laur, we're going out tonight. I need to get out and after that phone call I need to move on with my life.' I told her. 'Adele I'm so proud of you! Pick you up at 8 for dinner and drinks.' She hung up and then I went on with my day running errands. Once I finally made it back home I had two hours until Laura was picking me up. I picked out an outfit, high tops with black jeans, a gray long sleeve shirt, and a black coat. My hair was its normal style, straight with a few waves, and I put on light makeup like usual. Right as I was finishing up Laura walked inside. 'Adele! Let's get this party started!' She yelled from the front door. I grabbed my black Channel purse and my phone then left. 'So where to?' I asked her while she told the driver where to go. 'I figured we could try that new steak place. I heard they have really good drinks!' I nodded, 'perfect!'

After about a thirty minute ride we finally arrived. As we were walking into the restaurant I was looking down at a text I had just received from my mum reminding me that she was stopping by in the morning. When I went to reply I wasn't paying attention and accidentally ran into the man in front of me. 'Oh I'm so sorry. I guess I shouldn't walk and text.' I apologised and then he turned around. He let out a soft laugh, 'no worries. A beautiful woman like you can bump into me anytime.' And he gave me a wink. His deep voice was so seductive but what really caught my attention was his manly beard and those haunting eyes. I didn't know what to say and felt kind of awkward for just standing there starring at him. 'I'm Simon.' He said reaching out his hand. 'Adele.' I replied shaking his hand. When my hand touched his I felt something that I had never felt before and I think he felt the same thing because he didn't let go. 'Adele? Adele, our table is ready.' Laura said getting me out of the trans I was lost in. 'Lovely to meet you.' Simon said as I walked away. I turned around to see if he was still looking at me and he was. 'Who is that?' Laura asked when we sat down. 'I accidentally ran into him. His name is Simon.' All of a sudden I started to blush and brought the menu up to my face to try and hide it. But Laura had already noticed. 'Owww. Someone has a crush!' She joked. 'Oh shut up! No I don't.' I said suddenly feeling embarrassed. 'Wait do I? Is it weird I felt something when he shook my hand.' I asked. 'My dear, you have a crush.' She laughed. 'Laura! Oh my gosh. I feel like a little teenager or something. I have butterflies just thinking about him. Butterflies, Laura!' I gushed taking a sip of my cocktail.

We ordered our food and had some much needed girl talk while inhaling a few drinks. After we finished eating our waiter came over with the check but it was already paid for. 'A gentleman graciously paid for your meal. He's also asked me to hand you this.' The waiter said giving me a folded piece of paper. Inside was a note from Simon; 'Is it strange that I can't get you out of my head? Here's my number incase you feel the same way. Simon x' I showed the note to Laura and we started to giggle like little girls on the playground. I looked around the restaurant to see if I could spot him but I didn't see him anywhere. 'You should ring him when you get home.' Laura suggested as we got into the car to leave. When I got home I quickly changed into a pair of pyjamas, made a cup of tea and sat on the sofa. I searched through my purse to find the note from Simon and then after a few deep breaths dialed his number. Each time it rang I grew more and more nervous. 'Hello.' He said when he answered. 'Simon? It's Adele.' I responded trying to not let him hear the nerves in my voice. 'I hope it's not creepy that I've actually been waiting for you to call.' My nerves calmed and I could feel the butterflies once again fill my stomach.
