Remember that feeling of being so excited for something, that you couldn't focus on anything? Yeah, that's me right now. It was currently 6:58, and Barry and I were going on a date tonight. We haven't had a real one in a while.
"Where are you two going?" The head lab tech asked us as we grabbed our stuff to go.
"We're going on a date. See y-"
"May I remind you that your workday ends at 7:00pm."
"Sorry for almost leaving two minutes early," I said walking over to my desk and picking up a stack of papers. I organized them and when the clock struck 7, Barry and I were out the door fast.
"Is this too cheesy?" Barry asked dressed in a suit, infront of a heart shaped flower display. "Too much?....okay.....how about this?" He asked, arranging them into my name. I walked up to him and spoke:
"Look Bar, I know you're trying so hard, but you don't have to. I want to have a fun night out and you don't have to jump through hoops impressing me. We're engaged and there's no going back now. You don't have to worry about losing me. And no Flash business tonight. Just two....romantically attracted adults having a night out...........Where are we going?" I asked.
"It's a surprise," he said before taking my hand and leading me to the mystery restaurant. Barry uncovered my eyes and revealed one of the fanciest restaraunts in Central City. He took my hand and lead me to our table. We looked over the menu and my eyes came out of my head.
"Are you planning on becoming an organ doner or something? We can't aff-"
"Buy whatever your heart desires."
"Thanks Bar......" I said before we got the conversation going. But midway through the talking, sirens blared and many noises came from outside.
"What's going on?" A lady asked nervously.
"It seems like there's a robbery across the street," one of the servers replied. Barry and I then looked at each other and knew what we had to do.
"Stay," Barry said placing his hand ontop of mine. He then sped away and came back a few seconds later. The sirens stopped and we were getting back into the date when we got a call.
"Cisco," Barry and I said as we both reached for our phones. "It's urgent......we have to go..." I said before we grabbed our coats and paid for our dinner.
"What is it Cisco-Oh my...why did you open a breech?" I asked walking down the stairs. Joe had his gun in the air and Cisco and Iris looked at it confused.
"We don't know, that's why we called you," Wally said. The breech was moving more rapidly and little flashes of light occurred.
"Someone's coming through! Stay back!" Joe yelled. A few seconds later, out popped:
"Wells," Barry said after he appeared through the breech. Wells had his hands in the air.
"Allen...Chloe..... I need your help..."
"With what?" I asked. Suddenly, something else came through the breech and began speeding around the breech.
"Hi," Jessie said stopping infront of us.
"When did this happen?" I asked, shocked.
"A few days ago. We were getting your speed back and she got hit with the dark matter. Wally hasn't changed yet, right?" Harry asked. "That could be due to the fact that it affects different people at different times......but anyway, I want to run some tests."
"You've come to the right place!" Caitlin exclaimed. "Follow me!" She said as the lead the way to what she called the "Speed Lab."
When we walked in, Barry and I stared in awe at all the speed based technology and gear.
"You guys have never seen this room before, so I'm guessing you went back in time....how many times did you do that after I told you? When did you do it, when we returned to earth 2?" Harry asked.
"Look, only a few things changed."
"Not, that's what you thi-"
"Can we get back to me?" Jessie asked. We all turned our attention to her as she sped around the track.
"Damn....that girl can move...." Joe said admiringly. Wally scoffed and shot Joe a dissappointed look before leaving.
"I'll go talk to him," Iris replied before chasing after him.
The next morning, Barry and I greeted our coworker with a smile, but he greeted us with an eye roll and a point to today's papers. I went to my stack and my eyes were drawn to a headline.
"A man got attacked by a lamppost last night?" I asked in surprise. Barry came over and read the article over. I then got the idea to run it to Joe, so out of our lab I went. I walked downstairs to see Joe coming from an interview room.
"I thought you might wanna take a look at this-"
"Lamppost....yeah, the foster child is in the interview room right now. She's giving us all she has about the case....it's not much. Did you find anything?"
"Other than the fact that it takes a lot of strength to even bend that lamppost, I don't know. It's definitely not a meta with super strength. No signs of bending or broken wires. It just....snapped.."
"No finger prints left on the lamppost and the curvature on the posts suggests equal amounts of pressure were applied to the whole thing at the same time," Julian said coming in.
"She also said she blacked out."
"That and repressed memories are a coping mechanism for foster kids."
"Is it?" Julian replied to my comment.
"It is," I said mocking his accent. Like it was on cue, my phone rang. It was Cisco. I walked away form Joe and answered the call.
"Harry's stalling here. He wants us to test Jessie so we can talk her out of wanting to be speedsters like you two....But...I mean she has a pretty good shot. Her vitals all stayed in perfect range and she does have some serious speed. All she needs is a little training and she's good to go."
"Maybe. I'll talk to you later. Gotta go. Julian needs me," I said before I hung up. I walked upstairs where Barry and Julian were talking.
"I don't know what the element is yet Mr Allen, but I do know that's this is different from any other meta human samples I've studied."
"So you think Frankie....the scared and shy little girl downstairs has the same element in her DNA as Clariss?" I asked leaning against the door. They both quickly turned their heads and Julian cleared his throat:
"Well I wouldn't be comparing samples if it weren't a possibly, wouldn't I?" He asked. "And it's a good thing for all of us I did," he said before stepping away from his microscope and heading downstairs. Barry and I followed.
"You did it!" He yelled from the top of the stairs down to Frankie, who had been standing in the entrance of the precinct. "The lamppost!"
"No...no..."she said putting her hands up to her head and covering her ears. "Stop!" She pleaded.
"You Liar!" He yelled. "You're a meta human. You put your foster father in the hospital, didn't you?" He asked.
"No....no...no...." She begged, leaning foreword with her hands still covering her ears. A feeling of worry grew in my stomach and I could tell Barry had the same feeling.
"Didn't you?" Julian yelled before Frankie snapped back up. She lifted her head up slowly and spoke:
"I wanted to do a lot more than hurt him. Now, I'm gonna do the same to you," she said before she put her hands by her sides and opened her palms. The pipes of the railing then came loose, as well as the CCPD plaque on the wall. It came off completely and I could see it about to fall ontop of Julian. I changed quickly and sped him out of the way. I then went outside to catch Frankie.
"Frankie!" I called to her as she sped walked away.
"That's not my name. Frankie's gone. My name's Magenta."
"You're like this because of Alchemy. This isn't you. He changed you," I said as I watched the glow in her eyes disappear and a look of sadness appear on her face. That went away as the glow came back.
"I can help you. Come with me," I said holding out my hand. A cop car had also appeared and I saw this angered her. She thrusted her hands upward, raising the car into the air.
"Frankie, Don't!" I yelled as she held the cop car over our heads.
"It's me, or him," she said. She hesitated before throwing the car upward and it came crashing down. Luckily, Barry came in and sped the cop to safety before the car hit the ground.
Barry and I sped back to S.T.A.R Labs because at that point Frankie had escaped.
"Her name's Frankie, but she's calling herself "Magenta."
"And Magenta's a whole different person than that shy, kind girl we all met."
"According to her medical records, split personality is what she's been dealing with her whole life. Julian's yelling must have triggered it," Caitlin said.
"She must be faki-"
"She's not, Harry. I saw the struggle. Magenta is trying to take over completely. She's been in foster homes her whole life and her homes haven't been good ones.
"Yeah, in her current one, the father that's in the hospital, has a lot of bad charges on his record. Many disorderly conducts...and a lot of-"
"She got her powers from Alchemy. She knew his exact name when I said it. She had to have existed before in the other timeline."
"I'm sorry, but who is Alchemy?" Harry asked.
"Dr Alchemy is a.....magic man who can restore the powers of those who had them in Flashpoint," Cisco said sarcastically.
"What's Flashpoint?" Jessie asked.
"The name for the alternate timeline that was created."
"Okay, so another side affect of your timeline," Harry said.
"And with her powers, she can do major destruction. I'm gonna go and see if I can track her down," Joe said before walking towards the exit.
"I'm gonna talk to him about Wally," Barry whispered to me before he ran off to Joe.
"I'll help you find her. Let me go carbload!" Jessie exclaimed before running off to the speed lab.
"Snow.....Can you talk to Jessie? Chloe? Anyone?" Harry asked.
"I'll try Harry," Caitlin replied before she walked down to the cortex where Jessie had been. I talked to Cisco for a few minutes before Jessie came storming into the cortex.
"I knew it. You didn't want me to have this speed. That is why we're here, right? You wanted to test my powers so I could be-"
"Safe."
"Safe......yeah....I've heard it my whole life. Because I'm not.......Barry..."
"You're right, you're not Barry. You're my little girl."
"News Flash, I'm not so little anymore," she said before speeding off, leaving Harry in a gust of wind.
"Let me talk to her this time," Wally said patting Harry's shoulder and exiting the cortex.
Barry then returned into the cortex and we spent some time researching all we had on this case and Dr Alchemy in the other room, (not the whole time....) and Barry and I met Jessie and Wally at the elevator when we were given shocking news.
"What the hell were you thinking?" Barry asked Wally. "Jumping into he street like that, use your head."
"Nothing happend, chill...okay?"
"What happened if Jessie wasn't there?" I asked. "What would you have done?" Wally then exited the room and Jessie and Harry were heard arguing from the other room. She was yelling at him about her powers and she sped past us, leaving Harry once again. We sped in and Caitlin had the last word.
"Maybe she wouldn't turn you away if you tried to help her navigate her powers, rather than assume they'll destroy her," Caitlin said before she left and Barry and I headed down to the speed lab.
"Many mistakes were made Harry. Everything is changed due to us changing the timeline."
"I can relate. Ive been making a lot of mistakes lately as well. I try to make up for them, and I end up making more. Now my daughter won't speak to me."
"How do we keep from messing things up, when all we want to do is help?" Barry asked.
"I don't know Allen, but you once told me to "trust that in the long run, the decisions you make are the right ones." Barry chuckled. "I was always too good and quick at forgiving myself, and you were never good enough."
And at that moment, a loud alarm could be heard from upstairs. Barry and I sped upstairs and checked it out.
"What was that? What alarm?" I asked.
"Iris' panic button. I installed them on everyone's phones. We kept getting kidnapped-" Cisco said.
"There's an improvement in this timeline," Barry mumbed to himself.
"And it's coming from the hospital. Frankie's Forster father is there and she's coming for him."
"Iris went to see him........wait....is that a....tanker?" Jessie asked as it appeared on the screen.
"Yeah. She's gonna kill him and everyone in the hospital if we don't act fast. We gotta go," I said before Barry and I sped into our suits.
"You don't have super strength. You can't stop her."
"Start thinking," I said before I sped to Frankie's location. Barry and I sped to the location and saw the tanker. It was suspended upside down in the air and we had to act fast.
"We're not gonna be able to stop it. Unless....we create a wind funnel. Not by arms, but running. It sill propel the boat upward."
"Like a figure 8. It'll act like a propellor. Let's do it!" Barry said before we both started running. As we were speeding, Jessie started running alongside us.
"Hey. I thought you could use some help. I got this," she insisted before she took over for us as we went down to the  ground to fight.
"Magenta, I know Frankie's still in there. Destroying all those people in that hospital isn't gonna give you what you need."
"You don't know what I need!" She yelled. "I want them both dead. He said I was pathetic and weak. He told me I was a horrible person."
"He's trying to do that to make your life as miserable as his. It isn't because of you."
"I want him to stop hurting me."
"This isn't they way. He couldn't face his mistakes and move forward so he took them out on you. You can fight this. You're a good girl Frankie," I said. With that, the tanker was lifted and the glow disappeared from her eyes. She fell into my arms.
"I'm so sorry," she cried into my chest.
"It's gonna be okay," I said reassuring her and holding her in my arms. When Jessie came down from the hospital roof, we made our way back to the team.
"No one else or hurt, right?" Frankie asked.
"Except John. He's gonna be in jail in the rest of his life for what he did to you."
"I can't believe that I'm responsible for all of this and I can't remember a single thing about it."
"What do you remember?" I asked her.
"I had dreams. As they went on, they became more painful. It wasn't long before I heard Alchemy's voice in my head. He said he could make me powerful again and this happened."
"This isn't because of you. It may be the darkness inside of you, but if you face it, it makes the good side easier to win."
"So you're gonna just let me go?" She asked.
"We found you a good home in Keystone, with a family that will never hurt you."
"And what if she comes back?"
"Fight her. And if you need, I will be there in a heartbeat."
"Thank you....all of you...." Frankie said as Caitlin walked her out of the cortex.
I then got called to CCPD and Barry and I were on our way:
"What's up Joe?" I asked as we walked into our lab.
"Iron Heights sent us this yesterday. They wanted to keep it under wraps and hide it. It was a security issue, but check it out," Joe said before clicking play on the video.
"Clariss...." I noted as he appeared  on the screen. It showed him being bartered around his cell by Alchemy.
"Dead before he even hit the ground."
"Possibly a ghost. Do you believe in ghosts, Allen?" Julian asked Barry. Julian than left the room and Joe spoke:
"Could this be a result of Flashpoint?"
"It seems like everything is these days."
