Without hesitation, Caitlin began shooting ice blasts at Barry and I as we stood up cautiously from our previous positions. We looked over at Julian and Cisco, noticing they were trying to escape. I yelled at them to move, while Barry and I covered for them. We sped around Frost, trying to confuse her, but it wasn't working. Before leaving, I saw Julian reach for Caitlin's necklace that was lying on the floor. Before he could get to it, Killer Frost stomped on it, breaking it into little pieces.
"Oh, probably should've made that out of carbyne...Rookie mistake," she said sarcastically, preparing to fire ice at him. Julian stood with his hand up. He came up from the ground slowly:
"You do not want to hurt me, Caitlin."
"You know, you probably should've spent a little more time finding a cure for what ails me."
"I care about you, Caitlin," Julian said as she stepped closer.
"Show me," she said, leaning in for a kiss. At that moment, Cisco shot one of his vibe blasts at Frost, and Caitlin went flying into a nearby table. That bought enough time for us to hide and get our team or safely. We lead the team quickly to a safe spot. HR then gave us the idea to hide in the pipeline, and we stupidly agreed to it. Barry and I waited for everyone to be safely inside before locking it down.
"Swing low Sweet chariot" HR sang behind the door.
"Coming for to carry me home" we all sang in unison. Behind the door were footsteps, and we quieted down. Suddenly, the door opened, and Caitlin was on the other side. We all fell to the floor, as we were leaning against the door.
"Hey, dummies....My palm scan still works," she said, holding up her hand.
"I don't want to have to do this..."
"I know you don't...But-" she said before Wally interrupted.
"Do what?" Wally asked, standing in the pipeline doorway.
"Kid Flash, come to join the fun? Good...now I can get rid of you too," she said, holding up her palms and licking her frosty lips. Ice radiated off her hands as she continued to stare at Wally.
"Caitlin, you can fight this!" I encouraged. "Do it for us! You're a fighter, Caitlin doesn't quit."
"I know...But I don't want to," she said before shooting a blast at Wally and temporarily stopping him. She then stepped out of the pipeline and blocked us in with a sheet of ice. Not wanting her to get away, I took action and phased through the ice. Barry followed me upstairs after freeing Wally, and Wally worked on getting the rest of the team out of the pipeline. Barry and I completed a quick sweep of the computers and cameras before the rest of the team appeared.
"Anything?" Cisco asked, rushing into the cortex with the rest of the remaining team.
"I searched the whole building...She's gone," I said, scrolling through the cameras again. Giving up hope, I stepped away from the computer and joined Barry's side. I looked at the team, who all wore sad expressions.
"Julian, how about next time you decide to release my friend's inner ice demon, you do it sometime in July?" Cisco asked, angrily. There was no way of holding Cisco back, so I let him go.
"I know you're not being serious," replied Julian. "I was trying to save her life."
     "Guys, can we-"
"We should've taken her to a hospital...." Cisco said, trailing off. A tear fell down his cheek as he contnued to look down at the floor.
"Brilliant idea, YES! Expose her meta-human status to the world. That would've been great, wouldn't it?" Julian asked. Cisco looked up and prepared himself for the next comment.
"GUYS!" I yelled. "She's gonna do that anyway if we don't find her. Now, can we quit playing the blame-game and get back to finding our friend?" I asked. Cisco and Julian looked at eachother before looking back at me.
"Maybe...Taking five would be good?" HR asked. I nodded and we all separated. I was about to head to the speed lab when Barry stopped me.
"I got it!" Barry said, throwing his hands in the air. "I know how to save you!" I walked over to Barry, who has now been rejoicing over his latest discovery.
"How many times have we said that?" I asked. "Nothing will work. He wins, no matter what," I said, leaning against the computer desk.
"I'm gonna run to the future," Barry said, turning around towards me.
      "What?" I asked. "That's crazy!"
"Yeah..." Barry said with a nod.
"Wait, what?" Cisco asked, jogging into the cortex. "I ran as fast as I could....You want to do this now?" Cisco asked.
       "How did you--"
"You're leaning against the button," said Cisco, pointing to my hand. I took my hand off the button and continued with the conversation:
"You can't...Caitlin is still out there," said Cisco. "What if she comes back?"
"I know, but we're running out of time...If I can find my future self, I can find out who Savitar is, and how we defeated him. Besides, I can run to the future and be back like I never even left."
"Make that both of us find your future self. I'm coming along too."
"Chloe," Barry said, holding out his hand. I pushed his hand away and walked towards my suit, displayed in it's usual closet. With one thought, I turned towards the team, who had just arrived.
"I'm coming. I need to find these things out. I want to continue helping here...Considering that's not going to happen in the future."
"What do you need us to do?" Joe asked.
"Just keep everybody else away from the pipeline," I said, grabbing my suit.
"The last time you went to the future, it was by accident. How are you supposed to get there now?" Cisco asked.
"With your help," replied Barry. Cisco rolled his eyes before leading us down to the speed lab, where he got everything set up.
"You sure this is gonna work?" Wally asked as he put his mask on.
"I calculated the force from the explosion that propelled me to the future last time," I said. "At your fastest speed, you can create three times that force. It's more than enough to get us where we want to go...You got this, okay?" I asked. Wally replied with a head nod, and we made our way into the pipeline. "Just run as fast as you can. We'll try to keep up." I smiled and Wally returned it. When we were ready, we sped through the pipeline, Wally with a slight lead. We ran around and around until a portal appeared.
"Good luck guys," Wally said before we were propelled through the portal. Similar to past experiences, we waited until we were "spit out" to our destination. We fell on the concrete, but quickly brushed ourselves off.
"Looks like Central City to me," I said as I looked around. Barry scoured the street for any hint of a time change, and neither of us found one. That was, until, one came out of thin air. An article blew against Barry's chest, and he picked it up and observed it. He then showed me, and we smiled.
"We made it," we said, admiring the article. "Now all we need to do is-"
"What is it, Throwback Thursday?" A pair of voices asked from behind us. We turned around to see two old, but new figures.
"Haven't seen that outfit in a while, have we, honey?" Mirror Master asked.
"Haven't seen her in a while, either...Guess we get to relive the past...Y'know, Kick their asses like we used to," said his wife.
"A lot's change since this has become our town."
"Not anymore," I replied, stepping forward. I brushed off my hands and clenched my fists.
"What was that?" Mirror Master asked, angrily. "Did you say something, Flashette?" Mirror master pointed to his wife, who gave me the death stare. Before I could respond, my vision became distorted. It looked like all the buildings were coming together and it had felt like I was spinning. Getting out of that stage of mind, Barry sped me away....He sped me home.
The door was ajar, and we stepped inside, being cautious of what could be lurking. The first thing I noticed was how trashed it was. Furniture was everywhere, and our once neat and tidy home was broken. A tear fell down my cheek as I examined the holes in the wall and broken picture frames that lay on the dust covered floor. One picture caught my eye, though. It was next to where the couch would have been. I knelt down and examined the cracked picture of Barry and I. It was taken on one of our happiest days...A day I will always remember...Our wedding day. A tear fell down my cheek as I thought of what could have been, and a voice stopped us.
"I knew it was you." I stood up and wiped my cheeks. I turned around and joined Barry's side to see Cisco, standing in the room's center.
   "Cisco...."
"Chloe Allen, in the flesh," Cisco said as he walked over to me and engulfed me in a hug. "You don't know how happy it makes me to see that you're here." Cisco broke the hug and looked over at Barry. "Barry Allen," he said, giving Barry a hug. He broke the hug and looked back at us, happily.
"How did you know we were here?" Barry asked.
"I had a feeling...A feeling I have not felt in a long time...I hacked into the security cameras, and I saw you fighting Top and Mirror Master in your O. G. suits with the white emblems...2017 edition, of course." Cisco finished his rant, and focused on his original point. "Being here, this is no accident, is it?"
"We came here for some information. And then--We're going back."
"What's the information?" Cisco asked, circling Barry and I. Before Barry could make out the words, Cisco started for him. "Oh...Time travel. Yeah, yeah. You say something, you might mess something up, right?" Cisco asked. I nodded. "Don't worry, my powers of deduction have improved since 2017....2017..." Cisco said, standing in thought. "'Savitar.' He's what all the trouble is about."
     "Yes," I replied.
"Follow me," Cisco said as he lead us to another familiar place.
We got off the elevator and the smell of dirt and dust filled my nose. As we walked down the corridor to the cortex, plastic wrap and fragments of machines were scattered.
"So I shut down this place?" Barry asked as we continued walking. We finally reached the cortex, and that was the worst part. More tech had been scattered, and everything had been out of place.
"My friend, you shut everything down. S.T. A. R. Labs, Team Flashes...You didn't want us around."
"So he pushed you away," I replied. Cisco nodded, flipping on the cortex lights.
      "Why?" Barry asked.
"You said it was because of what we represented...That we were a constant reminder to you of what you lost....Her," Cisco said, pointing to me. "But you weren't the only one who lost something," Cisco finished before he put down the broken monitor and walked towards the exit.
"Where are you going?" I asked. "We're not-"
"It's not a good place for me to be...He's here.." Cisco said. "Get what you need here, and I'll talk to you soon. And don't leave without saying goodbye."
"I promise," I said to Cisco before he disappeared around the corner.
      "This is crazy..."
"What?" Barry asked as he walked into the medical room and explored.
"This is all because of me..The team...You're downfall...This is what I left behind...This is what I feared.." I said, slumping into Cisco's broken swivel chair, the only unbroken thing in the room.
"You're not gonna die. This Cisco's gonna help us," Barry said, continuing  to explore. I walked into the med bay, and came out when I heard another familiar voice.
"Why are you here?" Barry asked. I stepped out of the lab and froze at what I saw. Two Barry's stood in front of me, my Barry being the more recognizable. The other Barry wore all black and his jet black hair covered the back of his neck and came down towards his eye. This Barry froze as well, staring at every inch of me. He gulped before I spoke. I could tell that the sight of me made him uneasy, considering that I was no longer around in his life:
"We need your help," I said, walking towards the two Barry's. I joined my Barry's side and the other Barry spoke:
"As much as you try, you can't save her. The only person you can try to save is yourself," Barry two said to my Barry. "Save yourself from all the pain and suffering you have to endure...Although, there is one thing that brings light into my heart...." Barry paused. His eyes welled with tears. "The children."
"You saved them..." I mumbled under my breath as a tear escaped my eye. I relaxed and a weight was lifted off my shoulders. I had been worrying about them because of the whole death scene, but I was just glad they survived.
"They're the only thing that brings me happiness. They keep me strong. Even in my darkest times, they're always there...Yes, I wish I could have been a better father to them, but I did what I could without Chloe."
"We're gonna save her," Barry interrupted. "And I won't have to worry about that."
"No, you can't..." Barry two turned his back and walked towards the backway. "Go home...It's pointless."
"Just tell me who's in the suit!" Barry demanded. "That's all I need. You tell me that, we'll be able to track him down...We'll learn his weakness...We'll stop him before he even tries...Just tell me who Savitar is!" Barry yelled.
"I can't," emo Barry said as he turned around. "I don't know the answer...." emo Barry's head hung low. "Sorry you ran all this way for nothing...You want some advice, go home. Spend as much time together as you can...Because pretty soon, you'll never see her again." Barry two trailed off and Barry and I were left alone in the cortex. We walked down to the pipeline, and I stopped Barry in the hallway.
"I'm so sorry," I cried as I buried my head in his shoulder. "This whole fiasco...Everything...Its all because of me...Because of our love...And I know I shouldn't be sorry, but I am. Seeing you that way broke my heart. I don't know if I can go like this, knowing that this is what happens." I buried my head in his chest and sobbed.
"It's not your fault," Barry said as I looked up at him. "I can only blame myself for this downfall. You heard Cisco, I cut everyone off, not you. You were the one that held everything together...You were the reason why Team Flashes existed. I just wasn't as strong to take on that role," Barry said with a smile. "You're strong, but we're even stronger together...We're gonna get through this," Barry said before kissing me on the top of the head. "Now, let's--"
"You sure you can't stay?" Cisco asked as he walked down the hall and came into view. I wiped my eyes, and Barry and I broke our hug.
"I'm not gonna get what I came for," said Barry.
"Look, we could really use you," said Cisco as we brought our conversation to the pipeline.
      "Cisco I mean it!"
"Mirror Master and TOP are not the only villains in the city...We don't have a Flash here--Not anymore, okay?" Cisco asked.
"As much as we'd like you, we can't. We have to get back to our time and figure out how to save me. If I can be saved, you'll have everything back, okay?" I asked.
"It's good to see you in any time, All right?" Barry asked, patting Cisco's shoulder.
"Yeah. You too," Cisco replied as he stepped back and used his palm scan to open the door. The pipeline was now open, and we put our masks over our faces.
"See you soon," Barry said to Cisco before we sped around the cortex. We continued running, but couldn't see a portal forming. Barry and I then stopped in the mouth of the pipeline, where Cisco still stood.
"You okay? What's wrong?" He asked as we took our masks off.
     "I don't know....A portal won't open."
"We can't get back to the past...What's happening, Cisco?" Barry asked as Cisco grabbed his always- handy tablet off of the pipeline shelf.
"I don't know," he said, typing away.    "We don't have the telemetry for the suits. But don't worry, I'm gonna get you back home. Look, good news, you can always go back to the exact time in which you left, no matter how long you stay here." I nodded and replied:
"Maybe it was Scudder or Dillon...They seemed a little different than the last time we fought them." Cisco laughed, and I was confused as to why.
"Look around you....Everything's different....Except you....Maybe this means we can get the team back together?" Cisco proposed.
"Why haven't you done that?" I asked. "Why couldn't you continue without me?"
"I've tried. Believe me, I've tried. But you see, Caitlin's not the only thing Killer Frost took...." Cisco placed his tablet down and slowly pulled off his gloves, revealing Anakin Skywalker type robot hands. He wiggled his fingers, and a shiver went down my spine.
     "No hands, no vibes..."
"What--what about everybody else?" Barry asked. "Julian, Wally? Joe?"
"I can take you," Cisco said, leading us out of S.T.A.R labs.
We were taken to another laboratory. This one with tighter security. A gate buzzed before we were let into an all secret room, where Cisco told us Julian was working.
"It's been a while, gentlemen," Julian said as he continued his experiment at the counter. I cleared my throat and Julian looked up. "Chloe, I'm sorry...What are you doing here?"
"We need answers. I'm sure you have something for us."
"You expect too much, as you always did...Sorry to tell you, but you're in the wrong place."
"Can I see her?" I asked, walking to the cell like structure in the corner of the room.
     "Who?" Julian asked.
"Don't play dumb, Julian. I may be from the past, but I know that you cared too much about her to let her go," I said before Julian pushed a button and the doors opened. There, in front of me, was Killer Frost.
"Caitlin?" I asked. She sat up from her bed and looked up and down at me.
"I see you've still got those snotty little speedster buns in the oven," she sneered. "Chloe and Barry Allen from the past...What do I owe the pleasure of your visit? Come to see the turnout of Savitar's little stunt?" I walked over to her cell and examined it.
"I wanted to see what happened to my friend...My best friend...The future godmother of my children."
"I am not your friend, Flashette, nor the godmother of anyone's children." She crossed her arms.
"I'm so sorry this happened to you."
"I'm glad this happened to me."
"Caitlin wasn't..." Barry replied, taking a step foreword. "When we go back, we're gonna find you....We're gonna help you."
"You're no match for the God of Speed..." She said before Barry perked up. "Oh...You didn't tell him, did you?" She asked. "Well, secrets always were our thing, weren't they?...When I became Killer Frost, Savitar appeared to me and showed me the way...We made one hell of a team," she said with a wink. I thought about her comment, but couldn't recognize what the wink was for.
"Why would you help him?" I asked.
"Because he gave me the thing that you couldn't: the cure to my illness....Embracing who I really am." She faced the side of the wall and stood silent.
"You know who he is....Don't you?" Barry asked. She looked up and the corner of her lips turned into a smile.
"I'll never tell. But you're gonna be so surprised when you find out...I think your protege went toe-to-toe with Savitar....Maybe can help you out," she said before the cell closed. Barry quickly turned to Cisco, while my eyes stayed fixed on the cell.
"I need to see Wally!" Barry exclaimed as Cisco brought us to him.
We walked up the steps of Joe's house and took in the familiar appearance of our shared childhood home. I knocked on the door, waiting for a reply. When footsteps were heard, I prepared myself for Wally's company, but was shocked when it want him. Instead, it was a nurse.
"Hello?" a nurse asked as she opened the door.
"Hi, we're looking for Wally West?" I said as she opened the door wider.
"C'mon in...I recognize you from Joe's photos. Barry and Chloe, right?" She asked as we stepped inside, and noticed the changes in the interior. There was less furniture and an incline going up the side of the stairs.
"Yeah."
"I haven't seen you around much. It's good that you're taking time to see your brother....Joe tells me you live far from here, in another city. That makes sense, considering I don't remember seeing you much when he was first being treated...There he is," the nurse pointed to a wheelchair in the center of the room where the dining room table should be. "I'm Beth, just call if you need anything," she said before flashing us a smile and walking off.
"Hey, buddy....I brought a friend," Cisco said as we approached the figure in the wheelchair. As hard and painful as it was to look, it was Wally. I knelt down to his side and observed him. His hair was longer, and he had looked a little undernourished.
"Wally?" I asked. I got no response, and Wally stared off into the wall. Barry joined my side and we both watched him.
"Hey, it's me....It's Barry....Can you hear me?" Barry asked. Getting worried, Barry turned to Cisco.
"What happened to him?"
"Chloe died, and that sent him into this rage...He went after Savitar by himself one night, and Joe found him the next day with a shattered spine." I bit my lip and looked away from Barry, trying to hold back the tears. "No one knows what he saw that night, but whatever it was...He's been like this ever since."
"I'm so sorry...." I whispered. I stood back up and sighed. "We need to find Joe. He'll know what to do."
"You guys aren't really on--"
"Now, Cisco," I demanded. Cisco then brought us to a cemetery, which was also the same one Barry and I's parents are buried in. Cisco told us Joe was here and left, leaving us to talk to him ourselves. I could spot a figure in the distance, and it wasn't until we got closer that I realized it was Joe. He was standing infront of my gravestone, placing a fresh bouquet of flowers ontop of it. I was overcome with grief as I saw that my stone was inbetween my parents'.
"Hey, Joe," Barry said as we approached him. Joe's back was turned, and it remained that way.
"Why are you here, Barry?" Joe asked.
"We just wanted to see you," I said before Joe turned around slowly. "Just wanted to see how you were doing." Joe wore a look of surprise and gave me a hug.
"I know you're not "my" Chloe, but I am glad to see you." Joe broke the hug, and all the happiness he had was suddenly gone: "What do you two want?" Joe asked. "I know my Barry wouldn't have come here, so why did you?"
"What happened to us?" I asked. "The team...You and Barry..."
"Your life was taken, as well as my son's. It wasn't short after the funeral that Barry left...The last piece of what I had was gone...Along with my two grandkids...I didn't hear from Barry for a while, and he shut me completely out of their lives. Now, as much as I miss seeing you, Chloe, you're both need to leave." Joe gave me a final look before Barry sped away, out of rage. I followed him, and he brought us back to S.T.A.R Labs.
"You promised!" Barry yelled into the cortex. "You promised her that you would be there for Joe!" Barry yelled. A second later, emo Barry emerged from the damage.
"You don't understand..." He said, softly.
"I don't understand what?" Barry asked, angrily. I tried stopping him, but this hit him hard. I didn't want to get in the middle of it, so I let him get his emotions out. "That you abandoned Joe? That you abandoned him and everybody else? You made a promise! You promised her you wouldn't-"
"I couldn't keep it! Not after everything I lost....I was just as broken as Joe was! Maybe even more! To make it worse, I was left to raise two kids alone. Sure, there are many single parents out there that do it, but I couldn't. I feared the day when they got to old and that I had to tell them why their mother never returned home. The look of sadness that was in their eyes is a look I will never forget. Based on the circumstances I faced, it was the best thing I could do for them!"
"I don't care about--"
"You will!" emo Barry yelled. "You want answers, Barry? How's this? You will go back...You will do everything that you can think of to save her....You're even gonna create time remnants of yourself, but he's gonna kill them all, mostly. And then on the night of May 23rd, Chloe will die in your arms."
"NO!" my Barry yelled. He rubbed his hands on the back of his neck and his head was down.
"In that moment she takes her last breath and begs for her life, it'll feel like an eternity...Trust me, it will break you...You will be so broken you won't know what to do...You're lost without her...She's the love of your life, Barry...She was the love of my life..." Emo Barry paused and rubbed his eyes. "Luckily, your team was able to save the only two remaining parts of her that you had left...And soon after that, there'll be nothing left at all but stopping Savitar. So, no, you won't be there for Joe, and you won't be there when Caitlin becomes Killer Frost...When Savitar destroys Wally....You won't be there for any of them...The only ones you were really there for were your kids...But one day, you'll stop him. You'll lock him in the Speed Force forever...But at that point he already won because everything that you've ever loved is gone. Including yourself....So go home. There's nothing for you here," emo Barry said, giving me one last glance before disappearing once again.
"Chloe, I--"
"Bar, it's okay," I said as I began to walk out of the cortex. "I'm gonna find Cisco," I said as I walked off and found him in the pipeline. "Did you figure out what's keeping us here?" I asked as I walked back upstairs with him. "We need to go home."
"What? You're leaving? Now?" Cisco asked as we entered the cortex.
"He's not gonna help us, Cisco. He's too broken, and if Caitlin's working with Savitar, we need to get back. We need to before she's lost to us forever."
"What about everyone else?" Cisco asked. "Don't you want to help them?"
"I can't help them."
"I should've known...No matter what I do, you're gonna abandon the ones close to you."
"Cisco, it's not like that. We just can't stay here...." I said as a thought popped into my head. "But you want us to.....me to. You think having me here will get the team to come back. You think that me being here will make it feel to everyone that I never left."
"It wasn't Mirror Master or Top that did something to us, it was you, wasn't it?" Barry asked, suspiciously. Cisco sighed and his shoulders fell.
"Yeah...I disrupted the resonance field created when you run," Cisco said, pulling a small device out from behind his computer. "I might not be able to use my powers, but I still know something about tech."
"Why would you keep us here?" I asked. "We're not the Chloe and Barry you know."
"I miss my friends."
"Cis..."
"If you want to go, I'm not gonna stop you. I don't know why I expected you to be the same Barry Allen and Chloe I remember." I looked at Barry and we both nodded. Having the same thought, we shared it with Cisco.
"We can't go back knowing that things stayed like this. You want to help us try to fix it?" I asked. Cisco's sad expression turned into a smile, and he spoke:
"I thought you'd never ask."
"Let's do it," I said as I clapped my hands together. Barry and I sped around the city with help from Cisco, bringing back the team members.
"What the hell is going on?" HR asked as he looked up to find Joe and Julian standing infront of him. "I was about to check one of the most important boxes a man can check in his life!" Whined HR.
"You were, Mr Book Salesman?" I asked. HR noticed me from behind, and turned around.
"Chloe?" He asked. "Is this a trick? C'mon guys, this isn't finny."
"It's me, HR," I said, holding out my arms. HR ran to my arms and I hugged him.
"It feels good to hug you, again," said HR. He broke the hug and smiled.
"From the past, obviously. The twins were the only children you two had."
"I know," I said, looking at my feet.
"2017 Barry and Chloe Allen. A pair we'll never forget together."
"Cisco told us that you all haven't been a team in a long time. And I know that I'm the reason for that. My death shouldn't have driven Barry away from you all. I mean, it should've driven him closer. Especially because of the twins. Wouldn't want them wondering where their uncles and grandpa was, would you?" I asked. They all nodded.
"I'm here now to tell you that no matter what happens in the past, I will not abandon you," said Barry. On that happy note, a loud beep interrupted us, and Cisco ran to his computer.
"It's my meta-human app. Mirror Master and Top are at it again."
"Let's get 'em," I said as I sped into my suit.
"Us, as in Team Flash?" Joe asked.
"You have a chance to put some hope back into your lives. Do you really want to miss this?" I asked.
"You ready for Team Flashes to take down the bad guys again?" Cisco asked. The team happily joined Cisco by the U shaped computer table.
"WAIT!" HR yelled, running over to the opposite side of the room. He spent a few minutes searching, and then joined our sides with his famous Drumsticks. With a laugh, we were off. We sped to the scene, and I greeted them with a comment about Mirror Master's previous statement.
"I don't know. Your outfit looks a little tacky from over here," I replied to Mirror Master's previous comment about TOP's clothes. "I am old-fashioned."
"We told you to stay away, Flashes," said Mirror Master.
"We try not to listen to criminals...Or stupid people in general," added Barry.
"Hearing all right?" I asked into my earpiece.
"Loud and clear," Cisco replied into the earpiece.
"Should've done as you were told. Judging by our previous meet up, the odds aren't exactly in your favor."
"I'll take that bet," I said, getting into fighting stance.
"Give him a little ride," said Mirror Master to TOP.
"With pleasure," she giggled before sending me on a trip again. This time, worse than before. Buildings were folding, and I couldn't move at all. TOP was close to winning again. That was until we had company. With a click of a button and a large gust of wind, I was back to reality. Looking over to my right, three speedsters were now in our view, ready to help.
"Thought it was about time I did something," said Emo Barry. "Plus, these guys could use the energy break." I looked down at the small speedster figures infront of me. I smiled at the sight of my children. Not getting too off guard, I looked back at Mirror Master and TOP, who were ready to fight.
"The odds seem a little in our favor now, right?" I asked.
"Kids-"
"What are you-" I asked, stepping foreword. Emo Barry interrupted me.
"They're okay. This isn't their first bad guy," emo Barry assured as I sighed. My Barry placed a hand on my shoulder. "Kids, let 'em have it," emo Barry commanded as the kids charged at the two. One went after TOP, and the other chased after Mirror Master into one of the mirror portals. Waiting for Mirror Master to return, one of the speedster children brought TOP to us in handcuffs. I sped her to S.T.A.R Labs, still waiting for Mirror Master. Beginning to get worried, I looked over at Emo Barry, who was waiting with a smile.
"How are you--" I asked as a loud crash occurred. I looked over to see Mirror Master flying through midair, while the other child was clutching onto Mirror Master's chest. Mirror Master fell to the ground with a thud, and the child got off his chest and brushed himself off:
"Too slow," the child said as he handcuffed him. Mirror Master mumbled angry words under his breath, and they were all ignored as we sped to S.T.A.R Labs.
"In a bizarre twist, and the first sighting in years, eyewitnesses claim not one but five Speedsters were responsible for apprehending Sam Scudder and Rosalind Dillon, AKA Mirror Master and Top. I'm sure I speak for all residents of Central City when I say this: Flashes, if you're watching, it's good to see you again," the reporter finished with a nod. Cisco clicked off the TV and threw the remote down.
"Team Flashes is back at it again!" Cisco exclaimed.
"I think this was a good first step, Cisco, but yeah, we have a ways to go...Especially me," emo Barry said, looking at his children, who were speeding around the hallway. "I heard what you said, and you were right. You wouldn't have wanted this. You would have wanted us to stay a family, and I broke that promise to all of you. You made me realize, even though Savitar's gone, I've still been letting him win. I was wrong to do that...If you're all willing to try to be a family again, I think I can, too," said emo Barry. Silence came over the crowd.
"I don't know which one of you to hug first," said Joe, looking around the room. Barry pointed to me, and Joe hugged me first. He eventually went over to Barry, and than emo Barry.
"What do you say, HR?" Julian asked. "I'm in, and I can only assume that Joe is too."
"Yeah, I got a lot of coffee tastings and some book readings lot of women left to charm, but I'm in," said HR. "You know what? Free coffees for the gang at HR Jitters. Maybe 10% off. On me, let's go!" HR exclaimed before the team followed him.
"Take the kids with you!" Emo Barry called. Joe sent him a thumbs up, and it was just Barry, emo Barry, and I left.
"Thank you...Not just for everything you've done now, but thank you for making us a family again...Thank you for those to beautiful children."
"They've been raised right," I said to Barry with a smile. "And they certainly beautiful. One has more of Barry's features than the other...But, aside from that, I know I wouldn't let them out fighting crime until they're over 10...With the exceptions, many rules, and---"
"You've given them a gift. They need to do it for as long as they can. Soon, there's going to come a time when they have to take over for me. Wally's gone, and Jessie's nowhere to be seen, so it's just me here. Besides, you saw what they did out there. Their 8 year old asses killed it out there. They did all that with minimal training. It's in their blood, and that's why you don't have to worry. They're a lot like you two."
"That's what afraid of."
"Well...Their mommy was always a fighter, so I thought I'd teach them to be too. They do it in your memory. Though they are young, they are incredibly smart for their ages and understand a lot of what most kids don't. Ofcourse, we can't give anyone any indication of how they differ from the ordinary children. We've already had memory wipe three elementary gym classes."
"Just be careful with them, okay?" I asked. "Don't think that I won't haunt you if something happens to them."
"You have my word," said emo Barry, placing a hand ontop of mine.
"As much as I love talking about our children, we have to stop Savitar first before we can have a future with them. How did you stop him?" Barry asked.
"I had help---A physicist, Tracy Brand. She made the Speed Force trap for me. She figured out the technology four years ago."
"Four years after I died...Which by then, it would be useless." Emo Barry walked over to a table and handed me a small, round device.
"This has all her information on it. Maybe when you go back, you can find her, and she can decipher it for you."
"I hope so," said Barry.
"But if not, just make good memories, y'know. Have one night of just you two, and just focus on eachother. Have that one night of raw passion that I wish I had. Just make some good memories with eachother, and hold onto them as tight as you can." I hugged emo Barry and he hugged me tightly. We broke the hug, and he looked down at me: "I know it's not my place, but can I just-" emo Barry asked before I kissed him. He cupped my cheeks and I smiled into the kiss. We broke the kiss after a few seconds, and I placed my hand up to his cheek.
"I knew there was still some light left in you," I said, stroking his cheek with my thumb. I smiled, and he smiled back. He melted to my touch, but this tender moment had to end. I pulled my hand away and he looked at us with a smile, something I never thought I'd see this Barry do.
"Good luck," emo Barry replied before speeding out of the cortex. We then called Cisco, and he met us in the pipeline.
"Weird, it feels just like 'Back to the Future'," laughed Cisco as he fiddled with some tech.
"You always loved your movies."
"But that would make me Doc Brown. You're not gonna give me some kind of letter, are you?" Cisco asked. Barry and I both laughed.
"No, we will not, but we will certainly do something about your hands. You're too good of a superhero to lose those powers." The pipeline door opened and I pulled my mask over my face.
"You know you're my BFF's, right?" Cisco asked.
"I know," I said with a smile before we gave our final goodbyes and sped around the pipeline. Once we sped around enough, our portal opened up and we jumped through. After that, we were home.
"Whoa!" Cisco exclaimed as he was thrown back from his spot. He peeked over the edge of the desk and stood up when it was clear. "Wait, did you--Did it not work?" He asked. "Do we need to try again?" The rest of the team filled in when they heard our voices.
"No, it worked. We travelled Eight years from now. We talked to all of you guys' future selves. We didn't get exactly what we came for, but got a lead," I said, holding up that small device Barry gave me.
"Anything on Cailtin?" Cisco asked, anxiously.
"She was working with Savitar. We need to find her before she becomes too far gone."
"All right, I'll get to CCPD," Joe said as he scurried out of the room.
"Yeah, and we'll, uh we'll dive in here, right? Right, team? Team Flashes!" HR exclaimed as he walked over to Cisco and peered over his shoulder. Julian joined them, and it was just Barry and I.
"Home?" Barry asked.
"Yeah, I need some sense of comfort after this crazy day." With that, I was home with Barry. I threw my keys down and went immediately to my room, where I changed and laid down on my bed.
"What are you thinking about?" Barry asked as he got out of the shower. He finished drying his hair off and joined me.
"What's not to think about...So much has happened...Seeing what our children became...Seeing what the future holds for you...It just makes me think. What would things have been like if I lived? How would everything have turned out? Obviously not the same, but-"
"We would've had the future we've always pictured," Barry said, facing me. "But let's not talk about the future...Lets talk about now. Let's talk about you and that emo Barry guy."
"Barry Allen! Are you getting jealous over your future self?" I asked. "It's just like me kissing you, except from a different time. He was too broken and I could see that he was dying for my touch again. I wanted to give him an opportunity he would have never had. I know you would've done the same."
"You're right, but I just hope that he was right...About everything...Tracy and Savitar....And seeing the children...I looked like I was together, but it was just a touching moment. I'm just glad they're okay, and you will be too," Barry said, giving me a kiss.
"Not so jealous now, are you?" I asked.
"A little...Maybe if I had more, I wouldn't have anything to be jealous of."
"More? Like what?" I asked as I changed.
"I'll show you," Barry said as he changed positions. He was now straddling my legs, being cautious. It only took a few seconds before things escalated. All I can say was that we took emo Barry's advice.
