I felt the exhilarating rush of the wind behind me as I sped along the Central City streets. My adrenaline was at an all time high and my heart was beating faster than usual. I was training with Wally, Jessie, and Barry.
Me, being the fastest out of us all, flipped the switch on the last mile marker and sped to our endpoint.
"Chloe's showing them all up today," Cisco said into the earpiece.
"It's not my fault I'm that good," I replied.
"Wally just beat his personal best," Caitlin pointed out. "Chloe's putting them all through the wringer today...Especially Wally. He's never run this fast before. Keep it up!"
"It's me that's making him this fast?" I asked as I continued to run. "How about the fact that his girlfriend's here?....Wouldn't wanna get beat by her, wouldn't you Bar?" I asked him. Barry scoffed and we continued running. Finishing first, I sped to the finish line and waited for my speedster friends. When Barry got to the line, he grabbed me and stood next to me. He placed a vibrating hand to my chest, trying to recreate the Savitar scene from the future. Jessie stood on the sideline and watched as Wally sped to Barry and pushed him over. I pushed the timer on my stopwatch and we all waited for the news from the team. Wally stopped and Barry caught himself. He walked a few steps ahead of us and tends his back to us. Cisco muted all our earpieces so we couldn't hear him. A few seconds later, Barry turned around. He had on a poker face so we couldn't tell what he was going to say next. I instantly knew when his blank expression turned into a grin.
".21 seconds...." Barry said, looking at Wally in disbelief. "Just fast enough to save Chloe!" Barry exclaimed, throwing himself at Wally and giving him a hug. We all exchanged hugs before we sped back to S.T.A.R Labs and enjoyed Wally's victory.
"You did it!" HR exclaimed as he threw his Cofee cup down and hugged Wally.
   "We did it," Wally replied.
"You did it..." I said to Wally. He smiled and nodded his head. "You should be proud."
"How cold I not be proud of my little speedster boy?" Joe asked, scratching Wally's head. Caitlin came in just in time to join the celebration:
"Look who I found," Caitlin said as Julian trailed behind her.
"Hey, guys," Julian said, waving. His suitcase came to a stop at the mouth of the cortex.
      "It's good to see you...."
"Good to see you all....What's with the rejoicing?" Julian asked, noticing the looks of happiness and relief on all our faces.
"Wally has reached the speed he needs to save Chloe...She's gonna live!" Barry exclaimed, hugging me.
"That's great!" Caitlin said, clapping her hands together.
"Jesse, I thought you were heading back to Earth-2." Julian spoke.
"I actually decided to stick around for a little while," Jessie said, wrapping her arm around Wally's.
"Does anybody know what's going on?" Julian asked. "I mean, I got a mountain of paperwork back at the office. I was only there for a few minutes and was already flooded with cases."
"Haven't been there since....I've been consumed with housewife duties."
      "That's right, congratulations."
"It sucks that you weren't there to celebrate it with us. You're a very important member to this team."
"How do you know?" Julian asked. He wore a shy smile.
      "I didn't see you...Did you--"
"All it took was the Cisco express. I was here for the whole thing and gone by the end. I do hope you got my gift, though."
"Yes, we did. Thank you. How could we forget the baby sized microscope?"
"They're never too young to start learning."
"You got that right," I said to Barry. "We're gonna have the nerdiest kids." Barry pulled me in for a side hug before an alarm went off. Cisco ran to his computer and we were all alert.
"There's a three-alarm fire in the Raab building....Fire department is evacuating it now..."
"Let's kick it," I said, heading out of S.T.A.R Labs. Wally, Barry, Jessie, and I stood, looking at the building and thinking of a plan for how we were going to stop the raging fire above us.
"You two cover the lower floors and make sure it's not spreading on the other floors. I'll get back to you," I said before they sped off.
"Wally comm-" I said before I noticed Wally's weird behavior. Out of the blue, Wally starts yelling and
speeding all over the place.
"Wally?" I asked. He continued to speed around and ignore me. "Wally?" I asked again.
"I'M GONNA GET YOU," Wally yelled before he was thrown into a parked car on the side of the street. I then watched as he was getting "beat up" by nothing.
"WALLY!!" I yelled. He froze and his head jerked in my direction. I walked over to him and placed my hands on his shoulders. "What's happening?----What's wrong?
"Where'd he go?" Wally asked, panting. He began to look around frantically.
"Who? Where is he? Who?" I asked, trying to regain his attention. "Where is who?"
"Savitar...." Wally replied. By that time, the speedsters had met me back in the street.
"Fire's put out and didn't spread to anyother floors. What's wrong?" Barry asked.
"I'll explain later. We have to get Wally to S.T.A.R Labs, now." We sped back and Caitlin immediately gave Wally an examination.
"I feel fine," Wally assured, swatting Caitlin's scope away.
"So now Savitar's mind-punking you?" HR asked. "Oh, boy....This never stops never stopping."
"How long has this been going on?" I asked. Wally didn't respond. "WALLY!" I yelled.
      "Like a week.." Wally mumbled.
        "A week....Why didn't you say anything before?" I asked.
"Because I didn't know what this was...I thought that this was just maybe in my head...You know, I wasn't looking at it like I was keeping it to myself."
"That's exactly what you did, though, Wally," said Barry. "You did keep it to yourself, and with Savitar, that's not something we can do.
This is Chloe's life we're talking about."
      "Yes, I know that-"
"Do you, though, Wally?" Barry asked, getting defensive. I tried to restrain Barry as he got closer to Wally.
"Barry, it's okay, he didn't know," I said, calming him for the moment. Barry sat down and I spoke: "Until now, you only saw him, right?"
"Yeah, this was the first time it was physical."
"But I didn't see him. He wasn't there. It looked like you were beating up yourself. He was just messing with your head. It's all in your mind," I said to Wally. "You're attention was completely on him, like I wasn't even there. I had to yell to get his attention."
"Been there," said Julian. "Done that."
"Okay, why don't I run a brain scan on Wally, see if he was similarly affected to when Julian was possessed?" Caitlin asked, taking him into the medical bay.
"Perfect. He shouldn't even be here, anyway," said Barry, rolling his eyes.
"BARRY!" I yelled. "If it wasn't for him, we wouldn't be able to exercise the possibility that I could be saved. He worked his ass off to get to the speed to save me and this is how you treat him?"
"Look, it's if Savitar's using Wally the same way he used Julian, how do we know he's not spying on us through Wally right now? We don't know how this works. How do we know he can't see and hear everything we're doing?".
"All right, fellows, let's take a quick ten. We're all still the "Four Amigos" here, right?..." Asked HR.
"What?" I asked. "There's more than four of us..."
"You don't have that movie on this Earth?----I'll go talk to him," HR said before chasing after Wally.
     "So what now?" Caitlin asked.
"Well, we know from the future that Savitar gets out of wherever he is, but for now, he's still trapped, so--I need to talk to him again," said Barry.
"No, I knew you were thinking this," Julian said, shaking his head. "All right? And I won't do it...I'm not gonna be your personal walkie-talkie to him."
"We can't anyway, we don't have the stone."
"But, we still have Savitar's spatial frequency from when we plugged in Linda Blair here, so I think we could work without the Stone," said Cisco.
     "Julian, I'm sorry....We don't really have a choice."
"Oh, we do have a choice...I have a choice....And I choose to decline...
I'm sorry."
"Everybody just needs to trust me.
I know what I'm doing," Barry said before we split off. I opened the time vault and pulled Barry inside.
"Are you crazy? Making him do this against his will?" I asked.
"Chloe, it's your life or Savitar's. I promised you I would never let anyone hurt you again and I am going to stand by that promise."
"You can't put him through that. This is my fate. I'd rather accept it."
"You can't think like that! Wally's gonna save you and you're gonna be okay. We're gonna be a family, just like we always wanted to be," Barry said, placing his hand on my stomach. With that touch, I felt a jolt of energy. Ignoring it, I listened to Cisco, who now was speaking on the intercom system.
"Guys, Julian's ready," Cisco said over the loudspeaker. Barry and I opened the time vault door and sped out to meet them in the speed lab.
"Julian, you're gonna be okay," I said, patting his shoulder. He gave a small smile.
"You know the drill....Just let your mind go blank...We'll take care of the rest," Cisco explained as he pushed buttons and switches on the panel.
"Just let Savitar back in the driver's seat once more," Julian replied before he sat down. "Let's just get this over with, yeah?" Julian asked, sliding the headset on his head. Cisco flipped the switch and Julian's head jerked foreword.
"Bow before my greatness....Be in awe, as you are in the presence of the Almighty..." Said Julian in his Savitar voice.
"Enough with the religious nonsense....You were just a human....Like me...." I spoke, stepping foreword.
"I'm nothing like you, Chloe...You're cruel, you're selfish...From my perspective, you're the big bad..."
     "Stupid," HR scoffed.
"Still here, pretender?" Savitar asked, directing his attention to HR, who was slowly creeping toward the exit. "Still trying to find your place?"
"I found my place...It's standing here with these people, against you."
"You know, the sad thing is that you live...You survived my wrath...
The coward."
"How ironic....tWhere are you? You said that I trapped you in the future, where?" I asked.
"The only place that you could think of....The only place that could hold me."
"How long have you been imprisoned?" I asked.
"Long enough to lose my mind several times over...It's only my will that keeps me on this side of sanity."
"You know, it's funny...When I think of sanity, I don't necessarily think of Savitar," said Cisco.
"Well, that's because you're small, Cisco....You've always been small.
Reverb told you that you could have been a god...But instead, you'd rather work as tech support."
"You want to tell me why we're enemies?" I asked, stepping in. "Why do you want to kill me so bad?"
"Because we had to be...Only one of us could live...You thought that Thawne and Zoom were your biggest foes, but but it's me...It's always been me, Chloe."
"Man, what did we ever do to you?" I asked.
"You took everything from me!" Savitar yelled. "I never asked for any of this...I am only this way because of you.
All of you!"
"When do we meet?" I asked.
"Not long now...You're there when I become who I am."
"You're saying I caused you to get your speed?--I created you?" I asked.
     "Oh, no...I created myself.
Only I can bring out my greatness."
"Your greatness? Well, you're still trapped, wherever you are, and I don't know how you're gonna escape.
I mean, we got rid of the Philosopher's Stone."
"Did we? I am closer to my freedom than I have ever been...Every step, every move that you make, it only brings me nearer to it....I only need one more thing."
"Man, do you love to hear yourself talk," I spoke.
"Chloe, trying to show that you're not afraid? But I know you are.
I'm sorry that you have to die.
But it's you or me. And despite your feeble efforts to change the future, you can't, because I am the future, Flashette. You've had to suffer worse than anyone. You've endured pain your whole life. Your mother, your father, even your child....Trust me, you'll never get over this." Savitar said before I pulled the plug. Julian's head fell forward before he peeked up and spoke:
"Well, Well? Good chat, was it?"
"I-I don't know if I can take another one of those..Anyone else with me?..I almost filled my drawers," said HR.
"Okay, so other than Savitar taking scaring-the-bejeezus-out-of-us to a whole new level, did we actually learn anything?" Cisco asked.
"When I mentioned the Stone, he questioned whether or not we'd really gotten rid of it......We did....We threw it into the Speed Force."
"That's like throwing it into outer space," said Barry.
"Uh, maybe we didn't...I mean, maybe there's more to it..."
"A second Stone?" HR asked.
"Or maybe the Stone that we had was part of a larger piece."
"How about the Acolytes?" Barry asked. "Maybe they know something we don't."
"Hey, what about that one guy--Craig?" I asked.
"Yes, the Acolyte that you dropped in on when you went all cold?" Cisco asked, pulling up his chair to his computer. "His car's GPS has him located somewhere near Mount Buccelato."
"That's miles away. What what would he be doing over there?" Julian asked.
"There's one way to find out," I said before I sped to the scene. There was a Savitar looking statue, surrounded by a fire pit and a circle of people in long robes with hoods.
"What do you see?" Cisco asked through the earpiece.
"Some serious 'Temple of Doom' stuff...They have a box," I said, listening to their chant.
"God of Speed, soon your enemies will fall and you will rise once more on Earth."
"It looks just like the last one that held the Stone," I spoke into my earpiece.
"You were right, Chlo," said Barry, taking over the earpiece. "What are you gonna do?" He asked.
"I'm gonna go see what's in it," I replied before speeding over to the cluster and talking to who appeared to be the leader.
"What exactly were you guys doing up here?" I asked.
"Worshipping His Greatness..." The member replied, pointing to the statue.
"Oh yeah...Let's see how far he gets without this," I said, taking the box from his grip and opening it. The box was empty.
"He's ten steps ahead of you....There's no stopping Savitar.
If I were you...I'd move up the due date...." He said before I took the box and sped to S.T.A.R Labs. Cisco began reading it immediately and I took Caitlin aside to ask her some questions.
"One of members of Savitar's fan club mentioned that I should move up my due date. I know that's not possible, but it reminded me that I haven't done anything medical for this pregnancy. I know for sure that I'm having twins, but do you know how long it takes?" I asked.
"Well, your previous pregnancy ended up not turning out so well, due to unexplained reasons. I know that one was pretty much similar to a normal pregnancy because you only had one baby. Plus the fact that you had a significantly less amount of the speed force in your system. Now that you're having twins, the rate of cell growth, development, and regeneration is going through the roof. Plus, you now have double the amount of the speedforce than you started off. It's not too far away."
"Thank you!" I said as I skipped out of the medical bay and waited anxiously for the results of the box. "How's it going?" I asked as I looked over at Cisco, who had been scanning the box.
"So far not so good...Can't get any readings off of it. It's the same as the last time."
"Are we sure this isn't the same box?"
"Well, it can't be....I mean, I threw the other one into the Speed Force."
"Yeah, but you said the explosion sent you to the future....What if it did something to the box too, you know?"
"I hate to say it, Chloe, but, after all my years of research, I've never heard or come across another box or Stone. I think this is it," Julian said, crossing his arms.
"If that's true, we need to consider the possibility that Savitar has that Stone."
"I'm gonna check for radioactive isotopes or gravimetric force residue, 'cause if it's the same as the last time, We're in big trouble," Cisco said before picking up his monitor and searching again. I looked over at Caitlin who wore an expression of worry.
"You okay?" I asked. She looked up at me and gave me a shy smile.
    "I'm worried...." she replied.
     "Yeah, I understand."
"I keep coming back to the thought that--I could be the cause of all this..." she looked down at the floor. Everyone around perked up.
"What do you mean?" Cisco asked, putting his monitor down and looking over at Caitlin.
       "Savitar's prophecy....'One will betray you'..."
"You may well have invited Judas into the group, Caitlin," Cisco joked. "It's not you."
"It's impossible to tell...." She said, meeting everyone's gaze. "Savitar could be controlling me, and none of us would know about it...None of us, not even me....But this time, we know who it is...."
     "How?" I asked. Caitlin hesitated.
"Because I'm the one who betrayed everyone," she replied before reaching into her pocket and pulling out a little piece of what looked to be the philosopher's stone.
"How long have you had this?" Barry asked, angrily.
"Ever since you threw the box into the Speed Force..." Caitlin mumbled. "It's such a small piece...I didn't think it would really matter."
"Why would you even risk it?" Cisco asked.
"Because I thought I could use it to get rid of my powers...."
       "And can you?" I asked.
"I don't know...I haven't been able to figure out how to use it yet..."
"Okay, well, look, gang, I think we can all agree that this is a simple case of the other side Killer Frost side of Caitlin clouding her better judgment, so--"
      "No, HR...This wasn't her....It was me....I'm really sorry, guys..."
"Right now, we just need to figure out where Savitar is," I spoke to the team.
"Yes, I think that's a fantastic plan! How are we gonna do that?"
"Uh--" I said, looking over at Julian.
     "No."
       "One more time."
"No....You want to summon Savitar again? I am not a human Ouija board, Chloe...You can't just keep --"
"It's the last time, all right? And only long enough to see if maybe we can track his location."
     "Is that possible?"
      "No."
"Julian, we gotta end this, for everybody's sake...."
     "I'll see you downstairs."
"Okay, well, you guys can count me out, all right? Cause I didn't bring an endless supply of boxers to this planet," HR said before following us all down. Cisco hooked Julian up to the usual equipment and we waited for him to flip the switch. Once it was flipped, Savitar was back, hopefully for the last time:
"Back to worship me once again?" Julian asked, sitting upright in his chair.
"We just wanted to let you know that we're gonna defeat you...."
       "Unlikely."
"You told us that you're trapped....imprisoned for all eternity...
You're never getting out of wherever my future self locked you up....You'll never know freedom again."
"All will be revealed soon, Flashes....You will face my wrath...
You will beg for mercy, and you will get none." Cisco stopped the machine and Julian looked back up at us.
"Did it work?" Julian asked. I nodded. At that moment, Cisco's computer beeped and we rushed to the scene.
"We got a hit," Cisco said, frantically typing at his computer. "It's just that that 'hit' is all of Central City."
     "That's not a hit."
"The whole city?" I asked. "Well can we get a little more specific? Pinpoint a location at least uh, something?"
"I think maybe we can get a little bit more precise, but I'm gonna have to give it the old meta-human try." Cisco walked over to his table and grabbed his vibe goggles. "Okay," Cisco said as he placed his goggles on his face. He pushed the little button on the side and they were activated. After a short moment, he removed the goggles and turned to me. "I can't see anything....."
"What did you see?" I asked. Cisco put his finger to his chin in thought.
"All I could see was white flashes...."
"Kind of like how when I see Savitar, all I see is a white flash?" I asked. "Like a camera going off."
     "Yeah.....Savitar's speeding through this....storm.."
"That's not a storm....That's the speed force. Remember when Barry and I were trapped in that alternate reality after trying to get our powers back? When you tried reaching us, you were in the center of this....Tornado. We later found out that was the speedforce. That's the reason why only speedsters can see him."
"If he considers himself a god, why us he hiding?"
    "He's not hiding.....He's trapped...."
"Where the future you trapped him," said Cisco. I nodded.
"And that's why Savitar only appears for a few moments at a time, because the Speed Force just sucks him back in...It all makes sense now."
"But we threw the Philosopher's Stone into the Speed Force," said Caitlin.
"We gave him the very thing he needed to escape...Except, he said he still needed one thing. I don't think he can come out because he doesn't have the whole Stone."
"Guys--Wally went after Savitar," Jessie said as she sped into the cortex. We all turned her way.
"What?" I asked. I looked at HR.
"He started hallucinating. He thought he was talking to his mom."
"No, that's that's not her. That's Savitar...Where did he run off to?" I asked.
"I don't know," she replied. "He was freaking out....He said that he needed to stop Savitar from getting out, and he sped off."
"The Stone," Julian said, looking into the box. It's gone!"
"GONE!" I yelled. "Barry, we gotta find Wally. If Savitar gets ahold of the Stone, then He'll escape for sure." Cisco jogged to his computer and began typing away:
"I can't find him....He turned off the suit's telemetry." Cisco paused and we all thought of another plan. His computer beeped and my attention was turned to it. "There's a massive power surge that has just been detected."
"Where?" I asked as I sped into my suit.
"The old Kob Factory. Pulling up security footage," Cisco said before the footage went online. Wally was being sucked into a portal and was begging for help.
"Oh, my God..." I exclaimed before I sped to the factory. Wally had been hanging out of the portal and was reaching for my hand.
"Wally...NO!" I yelled as I reached my hand out. Whatever I tried to do wasn't working. The portal had a hold on him and I couldn't do anything about it.
"Aah! No! No! Help me, Chloe!! Aah!" Wally continued before he was sucked in and the portal disappeared. The factory was then still and quiet. That changed when another portal emerged. Hoping it was Wally, I was disappointed when it wasn't.
"I am free!" Savitar exclaimed as he jumped out of a portal and kissed the ground. "Ground...Air I can feel again...I can breathe again...I've beaten you, finally."
"Where's Wally? What just happened to him?" I asked.
"Like the Greek myth of Atlas, who could not put down the sky until someone took his place, Wally has taken my place in the Speed Force.
You know me....I love a good myth."
"He took your place? What do you-"
"When you created Flashpoint, you unwittingly provided me with the means for my return."
      "Wally...."
"You gave me the idea to turn Wally into Kid Flash, to make him fast enough to replace me in your prison. His youth and ego were my allies.
So taken with his fame and speed, he never saw he was running right into my trap."
"How do I get him out?" I asked.
    "Wally's gone," he replied.
"HOW DO I GET HIM OUT?" I asked, angrily.
"Suffering in an endless void for all eternity...Another victim Chloe Allen failed to save."
"No! I'm gonna kill you! If you had the strength to end my life, you would have done it in the future."
"But Chloe Allen doesn't kill....She's  good girl...The girl Joe raised...The woman Barry loves...You have everything...And deserve none of it. I'm going to destroy this city like I did in the future, so you can see the truth, Chloe...And then, you'll treat me like a god."
"You're not a god!" I exclaimed as I charged at him. He pinned me against a nearby wall. "Who are you? Show your face. If you're so almighty and powerful, why don't you show me who you really are? Make me afraid of you. Show me the man under the mask, huh?"
"I am the future, Flashette. I want so badly to kill you, and I will.
But you have to live a little while longer," Savitar said before his claw came out, similar to that glimpse from the future. He put it up to my neck and scratched it across my jawline. I could feel blood trickle down my neck. "Long enough to experience your death." Through this fight I remained weaker to him. My punches and powers didn't phase him, and I remained pinned against the wall. I knew he wasn't going to kill me just yet, but I didn't know what he'd do. He brought the claw slowly to my shoulder and I tried my hardest to resist, but it all happened so fast. He pierced my shoulder with the claw and I winced in pain. He dropped me to the floor as his claw remained in my shoulder. He sped away, leaving me on the cold ground of the warehouse.
"Chloe...Chloe...stay with me...." Cisco spoke into the earpiece. I began blinking slowly and eventually gave into the darkness that overcame me.
I was woken up by the sound of monitors rapidly beeping and the team shouting above me. My eyes quickly opened to find the team standing over me, shouting demands.
     "Bar..What's going on?" I asked.
"The blade from Savitar......It didn't hit your organs, but it did shatter your clavicle."
"Hang in there, Chloe, hang in there."
"We have to take it out," said Caitlin, putting on her gloves.
"Do it!" I exclaimed as I rolled over in pain. "Get it out of me before it does any more damage."
"Any medicine I give you your metabolism will burn through."
"Just do it, okay?" I asked. "It's what's best...Just do it!"
"Hold her down," Caitlin said as Barry placed his arms across my body and gave me a look of worry.
"Okay," Caitlin said as she paced around the room, doing some last minute prepping.
"Gonna be okay, mate," Julian said as he patted my hand. He held my legs down at the bottom of the bed.
"You're gonna be okay," Caitlin said, coming back to my side. "Bite down on this." She handed me a roll of gauze and I removed my hand from Barry's grasp to put it in my mouth.
"I'm so sorry..." Caitlin said before she started the countdown: "Three, two--One--" she finished before she ripped the blade out.
"AAHH!" I screached before I lurched foreword on the med bed. Caitlin patched up the wound and I fell back. I was out once again.
"How long was I out?" I asked Barry as he perked up.
"Not long....Are you in much pain?" He asked.
"Not the worst I've been in, but it stings a little."
"How's it going in here?" Cisco asked as he peeked his head into the door.
"Good," I said, smiling. "How are you feeling? Are you gonna be okay after what happened to another one of your suits?"
"I'll manage. I have at least 4 suits left of yours. You certainly don't go through as many suits as Chloe, Barry."
"I really don't," Barry said, glancing over at me and pushing my hair out of my face.
"Hey," Joe said as he walked into the medical bay. "How are you feeling?" We all looked as he walked foreword and joined me at my bedside.
"Better...Look, I'm so sorry for what happened to Wally. I just wish-"
"It's not your fault....Do you know where he is? I mean, is he in pain? Is he 'One will suffer a fate worse than death?'"
"We're gonna get him back. I'm gonna do whatever I have to, just have to go make sure he returns here safely." Joe patted my shoulder and walked out.
"I'm gonna go catch up with the rest of the team...Rest up.." Cisco said before he walked out.
"Barry..." I said, turning to him.
"You're not getting him back all by yourself, you know that right? Wally is a member of the team and the team is going to help you out with this. You're putting Wally's situation on your hands, but remember what you tell me. 'You can't put all of the world's problems on your shoulders'" I looked at him and smiled. I took that into consideration and scooted over in my bed. I patted it and Barry laid down next to me. He wrapped an arm around my waist and I snuggled up to him. I buried my head in his neck and Barry rubbed my head. Barry then sighed and
hesitated before speaking: "Besides, it's not all your fault..."
"What do you mean?" I asked, sitting forward and looking at him.
"My fear's the reason for all of this."
