"Stephanie where are we going?"
I was five.. holding on to my favorite plushy doll, a skeleton with a pirate hat I called Cap'n Munch, and holding on to my hand, was none other than Steph, also the same age..
Back then, I was the baby out of the two of us, much different from the big tough rebel I'd grow up to be. I always cried, was always very timid, and was scared even of my own shadow at times.
"Anywhere but here." said Steph as she pulled me into her room quickly. "We just need to get out of here.."
I was still wearing my pajamas, decorated with little skulls like Cap'n Munch's head. and the orphanage's bedroom was dark... Steph on the other hand, had little cartoon dragons on her pjs..
"Where's Mizu?" I asked.
"Shhhh.." Steph put a finger to my lips. "quietly now.." As always, she was very mature for her age.
I whispered the question again. "Where's Mizu?"
As if on cue, our big sister entered the room, carrying two suitcases under her arms.
She was beautiful. More beautiful than even Gwen. That's the best way I could describe her. Like us, her hair was violet and blue.. however, she wore it in a pony tail, and her hair, despite the odd color, looked very well taken care of.. her face was so kind.. and her body was light and graceful, like a princess. However, you could feel a strength to her, as if she could jump into a boxing ring with Muhammad Ali and knock him out on her first try.
She currently wore some pajama pants herself, as well as a white undershirt as she set the suitcases down and began stuffing our clothes into them, before taking out two wind breakers and putting them on us..
"Mizu.. where are we going?" I asked as Mizu zipped up my jacket for me and made sure I was warm.
"I don't know." said Mizu. "But we can't stay here.. so I need you to be brave okay? Just do as I say.."
"B-but.."
"Hey.." Mizu looked me in the eyes, stroking my hair. "What's our number one rule.."
"Love each other... and stick together." I said.
"That's right.. so I need you to stick to me like glue.. you too Steph.. " said Mizu.
"Y-yeah." said Steph.
Mizu pulled a jacket on over her undershirt and zipped up our suitcases. "Okay, come on.. let's go."
We snuck through the creaking hall of the old orphanage.. slowly making our way through.. so as not to wake anybody up..
But.. as soon as we made it to the living room.. Mizu immediately put a hand over me and Steph's eyes. "Don't look... "
But, I was able to peek through Mizu's fingers... and I caught my breath..
All of the orphanage's other children were hanging from the balcony like stockings, only it was not by some hook.. but by a rope and noose... all of them had no faces.. having been torn and mutilated.. blood dripping from their corpses and pattering onto the floor.
I immediately vomited.
"Shhh.. shhh.." Mizu whispered, hugging the both of use as we began to sob in fear. "Keep quiet...it's okay.."
Then.. it got worse...
I remember it.. that noise... even after my memories of all of this.. of Mizu.. of everything, even Steph disappeared from the accident I remember nothing about.. that noise still haunts me to this day..
