Chapter Ten

Monday, Devon wasn't at school. I wanted to tell him that I wouldn't tell his secret.

" Holly, Holly, come back to Earth now." I heard a voice calling my name. 

My head jerked up. Mr.Smith, my science teacher, was calling my name for like a millionth time.

" Huh?" I asked as the whole class laughed at me.

" You were daydreaming." Mr.Smith whispered to me.

Sorry. I mouthed back.

" Now class, don't forget that your project is due in two weeks." Mr.Smith reminded the class as the bell rang for school to be out.

" Wait, for a minute." Mr.Smith said as he stopped me.

" We'll wait for you outside." Jackie said smiling." 

I nodded as I as my friends left.

" Holly, do you know why Devon is absent today?" Mr.Smith asked curiously.

I shook my head no.

Mr.Smith handed me a piece of paper. " Can you give this to Devon." Mr.Smith asked me.

" What is-" I started to open it.

" STOP!" Mr.Smith yelled.

I jumped a little and snapped the paper shut.

" Don't look at it or tell or show it to anyone except Devon." Mr.Smith instructed me.

I nodded as I ran outside where my friends are.

" Holly, do you know why Devon is absent today?" Mr.Smith asked curiously.

I shook my head,no. Mr.Smith handed me a piece of paper. 

" Can  you give this to Devon?" Mr.Smith asked me.

" What is-" I started to open it.

" Stop!" Mr.Smith yelled.

I jumped a little and snapped the paper shut.

" Don't look at it or tell or show it to anyone except Devon." Mr.Smith instructed me.

I nodded and ran to where my friends where waiting for me.

" Hey Holly, what did Mr.Smith talk to you about?" Jackie asked smirking.

" N-Nothing, he just told me to stay awake in class." I stuttered.

Mikayla laughed," I bet it's the first time she slept in class." 

" She didn't sleep in class, she daydreamed." Maegan corrected.

Jackie rolled her eyes. Maegan can be a geek sometimes.

" Why isn't Devon here?" Mikayla asked changing the subject.

" Maybe he's sick?"Maegan suggested.

" Holly should know." Jackie said looking at me.

All my friends stare at me.

" I don't know." I lied as I thought of last Friday night at Devon's house. 

" Hey Holly, wait up!" I heard Mike yell running toward me

" Hey Mike." I said smiling.

I heard my friends giggling beside me. 

" Um, we forgot that we need to go to the bookstore." Mikayla said giggling as they ran the other way.

" Weird." Mike said laughing. " How did it go at Devon's place?" Mike asked suddenly angry.

I shrugged. " It was alright I guess."

Mike sighed," You know,I was worried about you." Mike confessed.

I blushed.

" Um I mean I was angry when he just pulled you away from me when we were talking." Mike said embarrassed.

When I got home, just as i opened the door, the phone rang.

ME: Hello?

Other person: Hey Holly.

ME: Who's this?

Other person laughed: Forgot me already? It's Joe.

ME: Oh, Hi Joe.

Joe: Can you meet me at the park?

ME confused : Sure?
