Chapter Fifteen

"Ow!" Jackie yelled.

" What's wrong?" Mikayla asked confused.

" Yesterday , a spider bit me on the neck." Jackie shouted.

" Is your neck swollen?" Maegan asked.

Jackie nodded a little. " I couldn't even move my neck." Jackie complained.

" Did you go to the nurse?" I asked looking at her neck.

" I did, but all she did was put ice on it like she always do." Jackie said rolling her eyes.

After school, I was walking home with Mike.

" So hows your project going?" He asked me.

I shrugged." Devon and I haven't even started on it now that I think about it."

" Really?! The project is due tomorrow!" Mike shouted.

Before I can agree, I heard a car honk. I saw Joe in the car, waving at me.

" Um, gotta go Mike. I'll see you later." I yelled running toward the car.

" Wait Holly--" I heard Mike call before I got into the car.

" Where are we going?" I asked curiously when Joe started driving.

" My house. Devon wasn't at school today because he was working on your project." Joe answered.

I nodded.

" You know, it's not nice to date two guys at once." Joe said grinning.

" What-?" I gasped. " I'm not dating Mike or Devon right now!" I screamed.

Joe laughed. " Whatever you say." 

I looked out the window. I didn't want to let Joe see that I'm blushing.

After a few minutes, we were at Joe's house. I saw Melody at the door waiting for us.

" Hows it going Holly?" Melody asked smiling.

" It's going great." I replied.

After Melody and I finished talking, Melody lead me to Devon's room. She knocked on Devon's door three times before I heard the words " Come in.".  Melody opened the door and I could hardly see anything because Devon's room was so dark.

" Devon, why don't you turn on the lights?" Melody asked as she flipped the up the light switch.

" I like it dark."  He replied.

" Holly is here to work on your project." Melody giggled before she walked out of Devon's room leaving me here.

I sat down beside Devon and picked up a picture of a volcano laying beside him.

" You could've called me so we can work on it together." I said looking at him.

Devon nodded. " I wanted to start on it so you don't have to worry about it." 

" It's our project." I replied.

He smirked. Devon and I worked on our project till 10:00. My phone rang suddenly and startled me.

" Hey mom." I said quickly after I checked the caller ID.

" Hey honey, tonight dad and I  will be going out of town for a few days. Are you at a friend's house now?" My mom asked.

I nodded and thought of Melody. " Yea."

" That's great ! You can stay the night. But if you don't want to, I can call your aunt and you can stay over there." My mom suggested.

" My friend would say yes." I said standing up.

" Alright, I need your friend's house number, name, and address." My mom said proudly.

I gave Melody my phone and she answered all of my mom's question.
