Miranda's P.O.V.

Harry and I finally made up!

I'm so happy! I thought that our friendship was over for good. I can't believe I didn't trust my best friend with this situation. I don't know what came over me. I never liked to share Harry with anyone because I was afraid of losing him. Now that he's famous, I kind if learned to cope with it. He's always surrounded by fans. At least I know that he won't become super good friend with any of them... except for Rachel. I will never be able to like her.

After Harry left for the airport, Austin called me. Yes, called me. That surprised me since he looked more like a guy who would text someone instead of calling. Not that I'm complaining; I got to hear his voice.

"Hey Austin!" I said.

"Hey Miranda! How are you?"

Ah, the usual conversation starter.

"I'm good, and yourself?"

"Great now that I'm talking to you."

I giggled and my cheeks grew warm.

"Well that's good!"

"Yeah. Um, I wanted to ask you something..."

"Yes?"

He didn't say anything for a while although I could hear him breathing. Was he nervous?

"Go on..." I pressed.

"Okay, I wanted to ask you if you would like to maybe go out? A-as friends of course."

I smiled. "So you want to hang out?"

"Yeah."

"Alright, sounds like a plan! When and where do you want to meet?"

"How about the bowling alley at 4 tonight?"

"Perfect! See you then!"

This is the first time we've hung out since my birthday party. I'm pretty nervous. He's pretty cute and cute guys make me nervous sometimes.

At four o'clock, I walked into the bowling alley and found Austin standing by the counter. I walked up to him and his whole face lit up.

"Hey. Y-you look great!"

I raised and eyebrow. "Thanks? I'm just wearing jeans and a tee shirt."

"You still look beautiful."

I smile and looked down for a second. He knew how to make me blush. We got our shoes and lane. He was fooling around the entire time and it was hilarious! He would do a three-sixty before throwing the ball or he would do some weird dance. He could really make me laugh! By the end of the game, I had won by 125 to 124.

"Pfft, one point more. That hardly counts!" he complained.

"Ah, a point's a point. I still won!"

He smiled and shook his head. We left and he walked me home like a gentleman. I hooked my arm through his and we had fun little conversations. He talked about himself a little and I did the same. I didn't want to mention Harry but it slipped. Austin's facial expression change once I talked about Harry but I quickly changed the subject.

Once we got to my door, I stood facing Austin and he put his hands in his pockets. He was finishing up a story. Then it was time to say goodbye.

"Well, thank you for tonight. I had a lot of fun! I would definitely like to do it again some day!"

"You're welcome. We'll definitely have to have a rematch; I WILL win next time!"

We laughed for a bit before I noticed something hanging in my tree. I gasped at the sight. I looked at it, then at Austin, who was smiling.

Miranda, will you go to prom with me?

I squealed a little and laughed.

"I known it's not for another three months but I better ask you now!" Austin said.

I nodded and hugged him.

"Yes, yes, yes!" I said excitedly.

He laughed and spun me around. I squealed and felt all bubbly. Strangely, I had a weird feeling in the back of my head, as if my brain was trying to tell me something. I ignored it and said my goodbyes to Austin. As soon as he left, I ran inside, unlocked my phone and told Sam all about it. This was her response:

-Sam: 5:37pm-

AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH...!!!! :D MIRANDA! I'M SO EXCITED FOR YOU!!!!

And she kept going on and on about how adorable Austin was. She kept saying that he was perfect for me. Again, I had a funny feeling in my head. Once again, I ignored it.

I asked Sam if she had a date and she said yes, but wouldn't tell me. I have a feeling that her date is probably one of the sporty-popular guys at school. i mean, how could it not be? She's gorgeous and pretty popular herself. There's no doubt about it.

She asked me a few more questions before I decided to tell mum. I went downstairs and found her in the kitchen.

"Hey mum." I said.

"Oh there you are! I hear the door earlier but I didn't know it was you; I thought I was hallucinating."

"Nope, just me! I have something I want to tell you."

"What is it pumpkin?"

I took a deep breath. "I have a date for prom!"

She stopped chopping the onion and turned to me.

"It's not that Jeric kid again, is it?"

"No, no. Not even close! It's Austin. You know, the one I met at my surprise birthday party."

"Oh that young man you hung out with today?" I nodded. "Then that's great! I just hope he won't leave you..."

"No way; he's too sweet. I doubt he will."

"Alright, I'm glad! He is pretty handsome."

I giggled. Mum smiled and kept chopping the onion.

••••••

I debated whether or not I should tell Harry about my date. I decides not to. We only just made up and I know since the Jeric incident he's been even more protective of me. I don't need him to worry about another guy just yet. I might tell him a month or so before prom so he won't be able to do anything to him. He'll most likely be on tour until summer anyway.

Instead, I decided to just send him a quick text.

-Me: 7:43pm-

Hey there cutie ;) How was your day? How was the flight? I miss you already :( Wish you could stay with me forever.

I didn't expect a reply right away because he's on the plane. Oh, sometimes I wish he wasn't famous. We could have graduated together and spend everyday together, but he has an amazing voice and I'm glad he gets to share it with the world. Even Sam sometimes wishes she could be like them and show off her voice to the world.

Oh well, c'est la vie!
