"Ew get your toes out of my face," I squeal punching Luke's leg as we sit opposite each other in the hammock.
"That's sweet revenge baby. You did it after not having a proper shower in four days," Luke states squeezing my ankles. This boy is honestly so weird. I don't even understand. He's like a seven year old. We have been sitting here since 3pm and it is now 5.
What the heck have we been doing? We just had turns babbling about our love lives. Then we discussed the best ice cream sundae toppings. Our conversations go in so many different directions. I'm supposed to be going to Luke's house for dinner. We're both procrastinating because we're too lazy to get off our fat asses. We sit there for a few minutes making funny faces at each until Luke's phone starts ringing. I sit silently as he answers and mutters a few yes's and no's.
"That was Ma she wants us to get cheese on the way home and offered for you to stay the night. She wouldn't take no for an answer. She is expecting us home in 15 minutes so we should probably head off. I will wait in the car for you while you grab an overnight bag," He declares sliding out of the hammock causing me to fall out. I give him a serious look but follow him inside. He grabs his car keys and heads outside while I run around the house grabbing overnight things.
Thirteen minutes later we walk in the front door of Luke's huge house with cheese and a bottle of fruit juice.
"Oh Penelope I haven't seen you in so long. How are you my sweets?" Kalani- Luke's Mum says when I place the cheese on the kitchen bench. She is right. I haven't been here in months.
Last time I was here was when Luke and I studied together for our algebra exam. I usually come here a lot. It has been football season so Luke has been at training quite often. I give Kalani a big hug.
"Mmm smells good what are you cooking?" I ask still keeping one of my arms wrapped around her side as I sneak a look at what is on the stove.
"I am making stuffed peppers, at the moment I am just frying the chicken, onions and mushrooms," she says. Ah yum, this woman is the bomb at cooking I swear. "Luke why don't you guys take Penelope's stuff to the spare bedroom? Show her the new addition to our house."
Luke nods and follows his mother's demands, taking my duffel bag from my hands and leading me towards the spare bedroom.
I have stayed in here a few times when Luke's had drinks at his house and I have been too tipsy to go home. I'm usually a good girl and stick to my three drinks then fizzy rule but when Pina Coladas are in the equation that rule goes out the window. Luke isn't the type to throw raging parties, I mean he goes to those parties but he doesn't take that behavior home. He's the one who invites over a few people and the couples sit together on the couch the rest of us either sit or lie on the floor, we talk and listen to music and play board games. Because it's always more fun when alcohol is involved especially twister. Oh Golly.
"You were the last one to sleep in here," Luke opens the door for me. The room is just the way I left it three months ago. My pink headphones I had forgotten sit on the bedside table.
"Am I the only girl or guy you ever take home?" I wink.
"Shuddupp... I had Eden over during the weekend when you weren't answering my calls. I just don't often have people over to stay the night anymore. I seem to go out instead," He chucks my bag on the bed.
"Why's that?"
"That's what Mum wanted me to show you, close your eyes and hold my hand," Luke begins to leads me further down his long hallway. I hear him open a door. The room we step into is very warm and smells like baby powder. "You can open your eyes," Luke whispers.
