Chapter 25: a different perspective.

It's Saturday night and Jake is throwing a party at his house. After school yesterday Tommy and Storm came to my house and explained to me why they hadn't told me they were official before they told anyone else. Storm just assumed Tommy had told me straight after he had asked her out or that I was part of his plans. Whereas Tommy had tried calling me while I was on my run. But my phone played up and the call didn't get through. 

Half of our year level is at this party it's quite the rager. There's several games of beer pong in progress and lots of people dancing. I'm rather excited, Zander arrives in half an hour, the suspension of him and Eva getting together was beginning to get too much. Apparently they've been talking a quite bit on social media so they're pretty close. No match making is required they're already doing it themselves. Right now our combined friendship groups are just sitting by the pool with our legs dangling in the water. Sharing two deep inner thoughts each.

Eva's Point Of View:

My phone buzzes suddenly and pull it out from the pocket of my denim jacket. After reading the text a couple of times I leap to my feet. "Zander is here," I tap Beckett's head knowing he'll want to see his cousin too.

"Go get 'em," Opal winks at me before sending a flying kiss my way.

"Don't be nervous love, you've already established that you are both interested in each other. So you'll be able to build upon that. He's an awesome guy and I couldn't be happier at the thought of you guys together. I know that you will make each other super happy," Beckett squeezes my shoulder.

That's a lot take in to be honest. Usually I go about relationships rather quickly. But considering the hurt of Hue cheating on me and the fact that it is quite soon after that whole scenario. I just want to take my time. I want to build a solid friendship without rushing into anything. I know that Zander isn't like all the other guys I have dated over the years. But it's better to be careful that regret anything isn't it?

Beckett and I make our way through the throng of people. Zander had told me he was waiting on the front porch so he wouldn't get lost. It is a tad difficult going against the swarm of people trying to get into the house whilst we're trying to get out. When we do finally escape the heat and loud music, I spot Zander crouched down petting Jake's chocolate Labrador, Calvin.  Ah a man after my own heart, dogs are weakness. I love my three dogs so much, a Pomeranian Husky called Amelia, a Yorkshire Terrier named Winston and a Havanese puppy called Lola. Zander looks good, he is wearing a greyish light blue tee with rolled up sleeves and washed out black jeans.

"Zander my maan, lookin' fresh! So good to see you. I was starting to get withdrawals. You gotta come stay more often dude," I watch the two guys exchange a series of bro shakes then hugs. It's rather funny to watch I must admit. Beckett's always a laugh and seeing him with Zander shows he's the same around everyone even his family. Initially Zander is so animated in his conversation with Beckett he doesn't realise I'm here. But when he does, his eyes light up.

"Heeey, I didn't see you there." He steps towards me and wraps me up in a long hug. There's no point in civil conversation when we have begun to talk a lot during the day. In his arms I inhale his scent and he smells even better that I though he would. There is a mix of some sort of Calvin Klein cologne and body wash specifically made for athletes, the kind my younger brother uses after basketball training. Which makes sense since Zander plays soccer, "it's nice to finally to see you and talk to you in person.  Ah you're so damn beautiful, I'm not trying to flatter you. It's just the plain truth," He holds me at arm length looking into my eyes.

I hear Beckett chuckle and I am brought out of the cute moment, where it felt as though-  as cringey as it sounds, Zander and I were the only people in the world.
