Josh pov

Topanga was waiting impatiently on me outside with her arms crossed over her chest, looking very serious. I walked over.

"Josh, we should probably go outside, you know, just in case she hears us. I agreed and nodded, Maya didn't need to hear this. I walked with my sister in law outside. It was getting cold. Winter was on its way.

"Josh, why did you think this was a good idea? We trusted that you could take care of her and now you treat her like this? She is going to be crushed if you hurt her Josh? Why would you do this to her?" She bashed out, clearly thinking I was some sort of horrible person that took advantage of the younger girl living in my apartment. I hate to admit it but it sounded pretty bad, but it's not like that. If there would have been anyone except for us I would think it was weird too. The anger started to fill up inside me while I waited for an opportunity to speak.

"Topanga, it's not like that, you know that." I said trying to keep this civilized. Topanga just looked at me with a tired look in her eyes.

"I really don't know what to think anymore Josh. I left a girl I see as a daughter with you because she's traumatized and l couldn't see her or even call her for months. When I think it's finally ok to visit her I understand that she and my brother in law has been together. How could you do that to her after all she has been through? She almost died!" Topanga cried out. It felt weird seeing Topanga cry. Topanga had always been so strong.

"She didn't die because I saved her. I could have died saving her Topanga! I did it anyways because I love that girl with all my heart and the thought of losing her was more frightening than my own death! I have loved Maya since I met her, I didn't know it then but I am sure as hell now. I love her and she loves me." I said with a cold face. I was not going to cry, I am strong. I have to be strong for both of us. Maya and I hadn't started this relation under the best circumstances but that didn't change the fact that she was my family.

"Josh I'm sorry I know that you saved her and thank god for that but she is still like my daughter and I will need some time to process this." Topanga answered while putting a hand over her forehead like she was having a headache. I went up and hugged her and after awhile she hugged me back. She pulled back with a smile.

"I think I should go and meet my daughters now." She laughed and headed towards my dorm, not wanting to waste any more time.

As soon as I got back I understood something was wrong, I heard loud voices coming from my apartment. Topanga and I started to run towards it. The scene we met was a mess. Riley screaming at a guy, who looked pretty upset too, trying to defend himself, it was my old roommate. Looking around I couldn't find Maya.

"Riley, where is Maya?" I screamed towards my niece trying to be heard over the fight.

"She left Josh, she got scared by this asshole. I'm sorry." Riley told me with tears in her eyes. Shit.
