Home.
I found myself sitting in my car outside of my house back in the states. Celeste was sound asleep in the back seat. I saw Mia's car out front.
Mia.
I missed her so much. She was like my best friend and I left her.
I wasn't scared to go in. I just knew things would be so different. My family would be shocked, maybe angry. But I knew I had Mia's support.
There was a knock on my door that scared me. It was Elijah. His eyes were wide with excitement and confusion.
Taking a deep breath, I opened the door and got out.
"Ash," Elijah stares at me with a loving stare. Then i began to understand how much my leaving affected him. He snatched me up in a big hug, swinging me around.
"Elijah." I smiled.
"I hear another presence? Don't tell me you brought Michel back." His eyes widened.
"No it's a... long story. Short version, I had a baby." I said moving to open the back door. Celeste rested in his car seat, with his head tilted.
"A... baby? How is that possible?" Elijah asked as he reached in to take Celeste out of his seat. He held him close to his body, feeling his heartbeat. Elijah beamed at me, more excitement in his eyes.
"What?" I asked.
"We missed you Ash. We had no idea what happened. Asher is tore up about things. He misses you a lot. All of us." He turned toward me with sincere eyes.
"Well I'm back. So is anything different?"
"Asher and Mia are broken up. Zaria is... dating someone." He said that last part with an odd tone.
"Who is he?" I asked.
"I'll let you meet him. They're actually on their way over. What a surprise you'll be," Elijah's green eyes were set on me. Celeste shuffled in his sleep. He woke up to see Elijah holding him.
"Momma?" He called out.
"It's okay, this is your uncle Elijah." I gave him a simple smile as i touched Elijah's shoulder.
I could feel my brother's hope. He thought that because I had Celeste my thirst to kill was going to change.
But it wasn't. Nothing changed about me but the fact that I was a mother. I didn't care what my family thought of me I never wanted to impress them.
"Let's go inside. Get out of here." Elijah said walked towards the front steps. As we approached the steps the front door swung open and there Mia stood. Her blonde hair was messily up in a bun and her large blue eyes seemed weary.
"Ashton!" She cheered pushing past my brother. She jumped on me, excited to see me.
"Mia." I said back.
"You finally listened." She said.
Elijah's head snapped around to look at me. "What do you mean Mia?" He asked. Mia stares at me awkwardly with wide eyes. Elijah stares between us in the silence, trying to figure it out. "So you've been talking to Mia?" He asked, raising a brow.
"Yeah." I responded.
"Wow Ashton, really?"
"Look you can either dwell in the past or be happy I'm home." I wanted him to drop it. My relationship with my family has been messed up from jump. Especially Elijah and Zaria, who always judged me for my bloodlust.
"Welcome home. Asher's been out since this morning. And I'm waiting for Zaria and Myles to come back." Mia told us both. She noticed Celeste in Elijah's arms. She beamed with excitement. "He's gorgeous Ash, looks just like you!" She beamed at the baby.
"So his name is Myles?" I frowned. The name seemed familiar, I just encountered a Myles.
"Yeah what's wrong?" Elijah asked, handing Celeste to Mia.
"We'll just have to see when Zaria gets here." I said looking around my house. Everything was the same, the paintings of me hung over the brick fire place and along all the walls. Maybe my family really did miss me. But I brought back way more things than Celeste. Especially if Myles was who I thought he was.
"In the meantime, do those bags mean you're here for good?" Elijah asked gesturing towards the car.
"Yes." I said. He smiled before quickly going to get my things. We all went into the living room where the plus couch was. Elijah and Mia began to talk to Celeste as I just say tight. I was worried about Myles and him dating my sister.
"Why you so quiet?" Mia asked, reading me. I quickly breathed before waving her off. I didn't want her to know anything because she would panic. She didn't budge but she knew well enough to let things go.
The time spent waiting for Zaria seemed like forever. I felt my anger boiling inside of me. No one saw exactly how angry I was but I was heated. If Myles has hurt Zaria in any way he is dead.
"She's coming." Mia said beaming. I felt for the energy in the room. By then I had put Celeste to sleep.
Zaria was beautiful, I always felt a special way about her. We were close as sisters, although I was closer to Asher. She came in and saw me. She froze, her eyes were full of excitement. "Ashton?" She said to me.
"Zaria." I said back. But I was more focused on her beau. Of course Myles Moore walked into the living room from the hall. He smirked once we were able to make eye contact.
"Ashton Angelescu." He chuckled.
"You know Ashton?" Zaria asked.
Myles sighed, "No I just recognize her from somewhere. Through a... Michael?"
He has the nerve. The NERVE! Myles is underestimating me I'm guessing his daddy didn't catch him up to speed.
"They know him." I smirked back.
"How do you know him?" Zaria asked. Her eyes never left Myles.
I smirked even more, knowing whatever his plan was would be blown if he told Zaria who he really was.
Myles Moore is Michael's son. His mother was Katherine Moore, Michael's ex-wife. My secret was that I killed Katherine, only to find out she and Michael have kids. Four of them; Myles, Mya, Michelle and Malcolm. When Katherine and Michael met she used some witch's magic to get pregnant four times. She wanted kids bad, even when she knew he was a vampire. Then eventually she chose for him to transition her. And their children followed suit.
This crazy thing happened when Michael looked for me, and Katherine was jealous and toxic. She tried to kill me but I prevailed. I don't even want Michael anymore, but she pushed my buttons.
"I was one of his boys, those dudes that handle his dirty work for him." He lied smoothly, I was familiar with the men because I sent one to shake up my doctor. Of course he knew that.
"Mm you never told me that." Zaria was no idiot, but for the sake of an argument she brushed it off. "Ashton is my baby sister. Asher's twin." Zaria lightly touched my shoulders. "You know she's Michael's...."
"I'm not Zee." I waved her off.
Myles shifted his feet loudly. He probably wanted to kill me right this moment. But I'm sure he couldn't take Elijah. And then not even Zaria.
"Drinks anyone?" Mia said loudly trying to break the ice.
"Of course lets go make some." Zaria chased everyone out of the room, leaving Myles and I. Well more like Elijah left the room.
Myles glared at me, with a lot of disgust. "The plan is finally coming into play." He mumbled smiling satisfyingly.
"What plan? What are you doing dating my sister?" I asked rushing him. I threw him into the wall and gathered his throat in my hands.
He laughed. "If I tell you that ruins the fun. Just know you'll lose your family Ashton."
"Like you lost your mom." I responded. "Welcome to the motherless club." I continued teasing him. "Right now with this... plan... you might think you got me. Maybe you think you can kill me." I leaned closer to his ear. "Katherine thought the same thing. And look where she is. I'm sending a message to your siblings." I dug my hand into his chest, pushing through all the mushiness until I could feel his heart in my hand. "Kiss mommy for me." I yanked his heart out, watching him go lifeless. I stood there while he fell to the ground, dead.
"Nice job." Asher said from the doorway of the living room. He smirked. "So what'd you do?"
I threw the heart down, sighing. "Nothing." I lied.
"You just ripped his heart out before drinks. In our house." Asher pressed. "Besides what are you gonna tell Zaria when she walks back to find him dead." He said.
"Hide his body. Or just blow it up he doesn't have to come back here." I said back. "Ash help." I pressed. He rolling his eyes and picked Myles up. In a second he was gone.
We would definitely discuss this later.
