"You're wasting your time. Why are you going to school with stupid humans?" Ashton asked as she saw her brother and sister dressed in a private school uniform.

"This is merely stupid, I want to get an education that the kids these days are getting. Maybe find a 'high school sweetheart.'"

"You're pathetic, looking for love from a human. Look at what you are, find love in creatures like yourself." Ashton spat in disgust.

"Why don't you join us sister? It's far more better than sitting around here with mother all day." Elijah proposed. Ashton was fond of her peaceful brother, but she frowned upon his diet. She thought vampires, especially men, she properly feed.

"I'll see to it, but I'll have to bend the rules a little. It will be hard enough when I can read everyone's thoughts." Ashton walked right out to Elijah's car. She wore dark denim jeans, a soft hoodie and some boots. Her hair was in some type of pin up.

By lunch Ashton was irritating and feeling the urge to kill. She spotted her siblings eating in a corner of the big room.

"What have you two been up to all day?" Ashton asked.

"School is rather entertaining. Apparently we're here in the middle of the year so there's lots of drama." Zaria looked excited. Ashton rolled her eyes.

"I've met a friend, Candice. She's quite artsy. Here she comes," Elijah waves her over. "Candice, this is my little sister Ashton." He greeted.

Candice had medium blonde hair and innocent brown eyes. She gave Ashton a friendly smile and was surprised when she didn't get one back.

"Hello Ashton." She greeted awkwardly.

Ashton grabbed her by the neck and slammed her against the wall inside the booth where they all were sitting. "She's a witch what do you want with her? Is this why we moved here? You know how I feel about witches." She gripped tighter on Candice's neck making her skin red.

"Let her go, now." Elijah demanded. Ashton kept her hand there for a few more seconds before releasing her. She turned to her big brother.

"Now what? I let my siblings engage in activities with a witch? Why not with Mother?" She turned to Candice and bared her fangs. "If I find out you're plotting against my family I will kill you myself." She said and then stood. She walked towards the door but bumped into a tall male. She looked up to see a gorgeous boy.

He was human but he was very good looking. He had crystal blue eyes and dark wild hair.

"I'm sorry I should have watched where I was going. I'm Roman." He greeted.

"Ashton." She replied staring at his eyes. He smiled.

"You must be new here." He continued.

"Yes and I must be going." She had to get away, she couldn't take interest in Kole.

"Will I see you again?" He called after her but she didn't reply just left.

Ashton found herself walking on a dead road alone. She didn't want to go home but she didn't want to stay at that school.

"Hey little sister." She turned knowing exactly who was there, her twin brother Asher. He walked alongside her smiling gratefully.

"Where are you Asher?" She asked with a hopeful tone. She wanted her brother to be there with her.

Asher and Ashton had a psychedelic bond. They could talk to each other from miles and even continents away. It would be like they were physically there, only Ashton was the only one that could see Asher if he was there.

Asher was worse than Ashton. He disobeyed his mother's wishes and killed every human he came in contact with. He didn't value human lives.

"I can't tell you. You have to take care of Mother and our family. You are the strongest."

"That's not fair, I can't play bodyguard all the time this is your family too." She said angrily.

"Ashton-"

"Get out of my head." She raised her hands to her head. Asher disappeared.

Ashton returned home to find her mother in the kitchen reading her gremoir.

"Something is troubling you, tell me." She looked up at her.

"Why can I read minds? Why am I so different from Elijah and Zaria?"

"You are not ready for the answers to those questions." Vivian stood, pointing her fingers at her.

"Why not?" Ashton snapped.

"You are not mature. You are irresponsible."

"I'm here protecting you!" Ashton yelled.

"And I'm protecting you Ashton. You aren't ready to know the truth it's too risky."

"Whatever." Ashton left the house.

She sat outside the bar where drunk teens came out. Ashton watched as one girl was even more drunk and stumbled behind. She saw her window of opportunity and ran up to grab her.

"Tell me your name." She demanded to the girl.

"Mia." She responded with a drunken grin.

"Nice to meet you Mia. I'm Ashton. We are going to be great friends. Let's go I'm taking you with me." Ashton pulled her along. "And we're getting you a little makeover." She smiled.
