The night before the dance.

Roman sat on the blanket in the middle of the woods. He watched Ashton adoringly. She looked so innocent. "Well?" He asked.

"What do you want to know?" She asked looking up at the sky.

"What was your childhood like?" He asked. Ashton held out both her hands, gesturing for him to take them. He did.

February 13th, 1408

There was a little girl with bows in her hair. She had long red hair and sparkling innocent green eyes. She stood next to a boy that was a little taller.

Ashton and Asher Anghelsecu.

"Come on children time for the celebration." Vivian entered the room. Her hair was in a bun and she wore a big dress similar to Ashton. She took both their hands and led them down the steps of the house. A crowd of all their neighbors stood around a table. They cheered at they saw the twins.

"Happy birthday." Everyone shouted.

The twins were turning six. Asher looked at his sister and grabbed her hand with a smile. They had a smile cake with candles Vivian made. Leaving over they blew out the candles and Ashton kept her eyes shut.

"Hey darling." She opened her eyes to see her father. He scooped her up and began to take her out the front door.

"Where are you taking me daddy?" She asked. They say in the grass, Enzo was careful not to ruin her dress. He dug into his pants pocket and pulled out a long gold cord. Two charms dangled from them.

"This is for you, my love." He smiled down into her green eyes.

Ashton got her red hair and green eyes from her father. All her siblings did also.

"The charms are pretty dad."

The scenes changed.

There was an older Ashton sitting on her porch. Her hair was in curls and she wore her dress. She looked sad.

"Ashton, what's wrong?" The voice came from a tall boy about the same age. He wore brown pants and a white button down shirt.

It was Roman Grigorescu.

"I lost my necklace, the one my father gave me." She frowned.

"Does it look like this?" He dangled it in front of her. She smiled lauching herself off the porch.

"Thank you so much Roman." She cheered wrapping her arms around his neck. Involuntarily she kissed his cheek. Ashton pulled away and stared at him with big eyes. "I'm sorry."

"It's... Okay." He had a small smile on his face as he backed away. "See you later." He began running down the road out of site. Ashton stared down at her necklace with a big grin.

Roman looked down at Ashton as she released his hands. "Where is the necklace?" He asked

"I don't know." She averted her eyes. "I lost it when I lost my father years ago." The look on her face was painful.

"Oh man." Roman laid beside her and grabbed her hand. "You aren't the only one without a dad." He sighed.

She didn't want his pity. "Roman, are you excited for the dance?" She asked trying to change the subject.

"Of course, I get to show you off." Roman smiled.

"I've never been to one before. I'm not nervous it's just... All those teens. And I'll have to keep an eye on you." Ashton stared up at the sky.

"You've never been to a dance before?"

"I've been to a few Ballroom parties, but there was always a different motive." She sighed.

"I think you would like you. But you don't have to go-"

"I have to, Carolin will be there." Ashton jumped up flipping her hair. Roman laughed. He reached up to pull her down.

"You don't have to impress her-"

"I'm just letting it be known that you're mine." Ashton interrupted him. He smiled leaning over to plant a kiss on her lips.

"I know, you can tell the whole world." He whispered. She smiled, high off excitement and love.

"It's getting late." Ashton stood. Roman got up to fold the blanket they were on.

Ashton watched him waiting. Once he finished she took his hand and they both began walking towards her car. The drive was silent as Roman thought about Ashton.

He was curious to how sex with her would be. The fact that he was deep in love with her made him want her even more. He loved the way she acted when he touched her in that way. He was eager to discover her.

"Why are you so quiet?" Ashton asked glancing over to him.

"Uh no reason. Have you gotten a dress?"

"Mia helped. We're both going, although I'm not sure who she's going with."

"We know not Elijah." Roman shook his head. He practically told her off after she helped him realize he needed his brother.

"Elijah was out of line. He shouldn't have snapped on Mia that way." Ashton looked angry.

"You were great for standing up for her." Roman gave her a smile. "Really great."

"Thanks." She turned into the drive way of his huge house. "Tomorrow night just might be the best night of your life." She leaned over and kissed him. Roman pulled her all the way over the armrest and kissed on her neck.

Ashton ran her fingers through his soft hair loving every minute of his lips on her skin. Their lips met again, passionately.

"You gotta get in there." She leaned back away from him. "Good night."
