Sorry I didn't update yesterday... forgot. I'm currently at school and I just remembered lmao. Enjoy the chapter! ❤️
"Good morning, sleepy head." Lily mumbled, coming out from the bathroom, pulling her hair up into a loose ponytail.
"Morning, gorgeous." He squinted, as she leaned down and pecked his lips.
"Hardly." She sighed.
"I am entitled to call you gorgeous." James exclaimed, putting on his glasses.
"One must not tell lies, James." She gave him a small smile.
"I would never lie to you, gorgeous." He said, virtually rolling out of bed to walk up to her, as she was leaning on the dresser. He put his hands on her waist, and hers rested on his bare chest.
"Get dressed. Your mum will be calling us down for breakfast soon." She briefly kissed his soft lips, lingering for a couple of seconds, before removing her hands and going to sit on the bed. "Well then, off you trot." She motioned him towards the bathroom, as he rolled his eyes at her.
<>"James, honey. I have something to tell you." Dorea sat on the sofa, the fire blazing in front of her. "Your father won't be coming home for Christmas."
Her eyes welled with tears, and James just looked at her. "You can't be serious."
"Honestly, James we have tried everything but he's on a long term mission and he won't be back until the 28th-"
"It's fine, Mum. It's fine." His words got quieter and quieter as he spoke, no emotions painting his face at all.
He got up, briefly hugging his mother and walking out of the room, running his hands through his hair. He leaned against the wall in the hallway, hands behind his head.
"Mate, you alright?"
"I don't know." James replied honestly. "Dad's not going to be here for Christmas."
"Oh." Sirius said blankly. He looked at his feet. Charlus had been like a father to him over the past couple of years, but he had been James' father his whole life. They won't have ever spent a Christmas without each other. He shuffled his feet. Even though it was hurting him, it was hurting James more.
"I'm sorry, Prongs. But I guess there is nothing we can do about it now, he'll be here for New Years though. You'll get through it, you've got your mum, and me and Lily and Remus and Peter- although I'm not sure Peter can make it this year, something about a 'family emergency '. But anyway-"
James let out a light hearted chuckle at Sirius' rambling; his best friend was stupid, but he was his brother, and nothing was going to change that.
"Ah, there's a little smile in you isn't there." Sirius grinned, his eyes lighting up mischievously. "Let's go and have some fun."<>
A dogs muffled bark was heard, as it emerged from the snow, rolling around and panting happily. On the other side of him, was a stag, prancing around, not so gracefully I might add, in the thick snow. They chased each other round the wintery gardens at Potter manor, Dorea had gone Christmas shopping.
After about half an hour, the stag and the dog started to shift, becoming two well built young men: James Potter and Sirius Black. They high fived and started to walk back towards the manor, when they saw a horrified figure standing at the window, watching them.
Shit, James thought- she saw. She was supposed to be in the Manors library, catching up on her reading and whatnot. Oh god.
He started to sprint into the house, kicking off his shoes and pulling off his coat and rushing up the stairs. He saw her walking down the hallway towards her room.
"Lily-"
"How could you not tell me?!" She shouted, absolutely horrified.
"I don't have to tell you everything you know!"
"We're supposed to TRUST each other James! What's going to happen if you don't?"
"Lily it doesn't matter if I'm an illegal animagus! It doesn't change the fact that I'm still me!"
"That's not what I'm mad about James," she lowered her voice "You didn't trust me enough to tell me. I'd trust you with my life. But now I see that you wouldn't do the same." She concluded, before walking back to the guest room.
She lay face down on the bed, breathing heavily. Did he really not trust her? What had she done wrong? That's the first time they have fought since they've been together, and Lily wasn't ready for it.
James slammed his door shut, running his hands through his hair and pacing up and down his room. The only thing he could think of was: I've upset her. I've made her sad. And those words were enough for him, because he loved her. He trusted her. And now there is a scratch on the surface. Thanks to him. It was all his fault. She was upset, and he couldn't comfort her, because for once, he was the one to blame.
