Yeah okay so I haven't updated in like a gazillion years... fight me. This chapter is super long and I worked really hard on it so I hope you enjoy it :) ♥

"So Lily, what are your plans after Hogwarts?" Charlus asked Lily, as he sat in his living room, opposite her. Charlus had arrived back home safe three days ago, much to his family's relief. he was extremely unhappy that he had missed Christmas with his family, but he treated it as a memory of the past. this was a gift that Lily considered all of the Potters had, they had the ability to move on from things quite quickly, because you can't change what has happened in the past.

"Well, I was considering becoming a healer- I want to make a difference in peoples lives." as soon as these words had left Lily's mouth, she knew that she had lied. Lily did not want to become a healer. Honestly, she wanted to be an aurour, working full time in the ministry. She knew that most people would disapprove of her decision, so she just generally told people that she wanted to become a healer.

"That's good. I wanted to become a healer, you know. before I discovered what an aurour was. I loved the idea of being able to bring justice to the world." he said, smiling a warm smile at her, before turning back to his book. When Lily discovered that Charlus had a secret love for reading, she was delighted. So they would sit there, reading, and enjoying each others company.

"Lily, dear! Will you come and give me a hand in the kitchen, please?" Dorea called from the kitchen.

"I had better go." Lily sighed, but smiled at the same time, putting down her book on the coffee table in front of her.

"Well, when duty calls." he commented, looking at Lily over the top of his glasses, winking at her before she left. She loved the Potters.

"Hello, love of my life." James said, swiftly walking into the kitchen and kissing Lily's brow, before picking up one of the brownies set out on the table.

"Hello, pain in my backside." she smirked at him, as he jokingly glared at her, before shoving the entire brownie he picked up into his mouth. "James! Those are for later!" she exclaimed, furrowing her brow at him and moving the brownies away from him.

"But Lils..." he moaned, dragging out the 's', "We've just had a very intense Quidditch match outside and I need to regain my energy." he put the back of his hand on his forehead, dramatically sighing.

"You'll just have to wait, then. Won't you?" she said, knowingly, flashing him a smile.

Dorea peered behind her to watch her son and his girlfriend interact with each other. She hadn't seen James this happy for a long time. He talked about her for years and years on end, writing home from Hogwarts about her, and how amazing she was, about how much she didn't like him. And she was so proud of his son for flipping his attitude around for this Lily, who had such a big heart that she could tell was full of love. She was definitely growing to love Lily, because, she knew, that one day, she would most likely be a part of the family.

"Mrs Potter, I'm just going to go and take a quick shower before tonight, is that alright?" Lily asked, pulling the tie on the back of her flour-covered apron, lifting it over her head. It was New Years Eve, and they were having a small gathering, just with Marlene, Alice, Frank, Remus, unfortunately Peter couldn't attend, something about 'family business' or whatever.

"Of course, dear! I'll just finish up in here." she grinned, taking Lily's apron out of her hands for her.

"Thank you." beamed Lily, daintily waving at Dorea and James, walking out of the kitchen.
