Derrick's POV
I like my team mates. They seem pretty cool. I mean sure they like to play around with me a lot but they are good friends.
Nadia always told me that I shouldn't trust them. Especially after my mom died in the crash two months ago and I went to them for help. I miss my mom a lot, my dad always works and it sucks cause when I need help on homework he isn't there.
I walked into the locker room to get changed and out of no where I saw a basketball coming my way. Over the years of being with them as a team, I've learned to be quick and catch the ball with one hand. Now my coach calls me sticky fingers instead of butter fingers like when I used to drop the ball a lot.
I caught the ball and then the captain of the team came out. "Good catch, dumbass" he said.
I laughed. "That was a good one... you got anymore?"
"I'm saving them for the court, dumbbell" he said walking away.
I laughed again. He's really funny.
Nadia's POV
After practice..."Hey Nadia" Derrick said catching up to me.
"Hey Derrick, how was practice?" I asked smiling.
Derrick always gets me to smile at anytime. "It was good, it was fun."
"That's good, you got homework?" I asked.
"... No"
"Don't lie"
".... Yeah, I don't get it. We are Seniors and we get a lot of homework"
"It's a part of school Ricky, look come over to my house and I'll help you, okay?" I said turning around.
He nodded. "Do you need a ride?"
"Na, I can I could just take the bus if you want to be alone"
"No, come on I'll take you"
"Okay" he said. He followed me to my car and got in when it was unlocked. The drive was silent and when we got to my house I unlocked the door and went in.
12 minutes later..."Okay, that was the last question... your finished." I said.
"I am?" He said shocked.
"Mhmm"
"Wow, thanks N." he said smiling.
"Your welcome"
He left an hour later, he wanted to see if he could help me and he actually helped me get the right answers. My mom came home and by then I was in my room watching TV.
"Hey sweetie" she said knocking on my door.
"Hey mama" I said.
"How's everything going?"
"Good, I was just texting Derrick and watching TV."
"Oh, how is he?"
"He's good."
"That's good..." she said. She started to walk away but came back to ask me something.
"Hey, have you ever thought about dating Derrick?"
"Mama he's my best friend... that would be extra weird." I laughed.
"Oh... okay. " she said awkwardly and then continued to go down stairs.
Now that she brought it up, I couldn't stop thinking about what me and him being together would feel like. I mean it's not like I was gonna ask him how he felt but I really am curious on what he thinks.
But until I ask him, which that will never happen, it will remain unknown.
