Right Mind

Nadia's POV

Since Derrick's dad left him to fend for himself, we had to take him in.

We have 2 extra rooms, one is just a guest room and the other was supposed to be my younger brother'vs room.

Unfortunately, my mom had a miscarriage and almost lost her life while trying to give birth to a dead baby.

Derrick took the guest room cause no matter how hard you tried, you'd never be able to convince her to let someone stay in her dead son's room... it's just not gonna happen.

Anyways, we moved all of Derrick's things from his house to ours and since we are both about to be 18 in a month or two, My mom said she wouldn't adopt him.

Derrick still isn't in his right mind to do anything. It's like he's fallen into this state of I don't give a fuck anymore cause he's acting really different.

At school, Derrick wouldn't talk. I don't blame him. It was just an extremely quiet day for me.

I had volleyball practice after school I think Derrick has after school basketball practice today.
Derrick's POV

I just wanted to get through practice and go home. I wasn't in the mood for anyone and I wasn't going to suck up to anyone in practice either.

"Aye Derrick" Someone called.

I turned around.

"You're nothing but a piece of shit..  hope you know that" Jared said.

I didn't say anything back.

I walked out of the locker room and accidentally bumped into Nadia.

"Sorry" I said.

"It's okay" she said smiling.
After practice...

I was walking to my car and Nadia caught up to me.

"Hey... you okay?" She asked.

"Yeah I'm fine" I said.

"Well, well, well... if you guys aren't the ugliest couple I don't know what is Jared said.

"Can you just go?" Nadia said.

"No... why are you even with this loser?"

"I like him" she said.

"You like this piece of shit? Wow, that's something new"
Nadia's POV

Derrick punched Jared in the face and then picked him up and slammed him on the ground.

My jaw dropped to the floor because I've never seen Derrick do that.

He got on top of Jared and punched him even after he was unconscious.

"Stop Ricky!" I said pulling him arm.

Derrick got off of him when Jared friends ran over.

"What's your problem?!" They said ready to fight him.

"I'm tired of him fucking with me!" He said.

One kid walked up to him and Derrick knocked him out with one punch.

Over and over until all 5 guys were on the ground including Jared.

Derrick got in his car and drove home the long way while I drove the short way.
30 minutes later...

I walked in the house and put my backpack down on the floor in my room and changed clothes.

I got a phone call from my mom and I answered it. It was my mom telling me that something happened to Derrick...
